We've had multiple great experiences with West Highlands Auto Repair. We got quotes from other shops about nonexistent issues. West Highlands Auto Repair examined the car and showed us there were actually no issues. I've been here for multiple other small issues and they have always done a great job. I highly recommend them. Honest, quality work is what I have experienced.

They also walk through issues with you in a way that non mechanics can understand. They caught, unprompted, an issue we had been taking our car to another mechanic for years before which that mechanic recommended bandaids cuz they couldn't figure it out. These guys are fair priced....maybe not the cheapest you can find (or honestly, maybe the issues my cars had weren't the cheapest haha) but man they know their stuff and they use really quality parts so worth every penny. The ole' silver bullet was having some problems of late - constantly alerting me to a coolant problem, idling pretty high, that weird thing where my trunk popper won't work. (Yeah, I know, I'm not sure what's up with that.) The great thing about Auto Know How is that they will troubleshoot with you over the phone to see if it's really necessary for you to come in or to figure out just how major your problem might be. After talking with Laura on the phone for a few minutes, I knew that my coolant issue wasn't urgent but after several months of that persistent dinging alarm going off every time I got behind the wheel, I decided it was time to finally take it in. Turns out I needed some extra stuff done too, which I was happy to have them repair. Considering I've never had major work done on my car and it's 6 years old, I think that's pretty awesome. Particularly since it was less than $300. That's almost a miracle. Be prepared to leave your car overnight, even if you're just coming in for an oil change, because they do get busy these days. I've also found that my final bill tends to be a little less than they have quoted me, which is also awesome. Oh, and my trunk? Apparently I have a valet switch that kept getting locked. Who knew?

AAA gave me some BS about getting there in a couple of hours and it felt like every car flying down 38th was going to rear end my disabled vehicle. My friend waved over a mechanic from Arturo's across the street and they were able to push my car across 38th to the shop. Arturo's replaced my clutch with OEM parts for a reasonable price and I had my car back in a couple of days. It was such a good experience that I came back to Arturo's when my starter started to go out. They took a look and said it was just a cable. But, they also noticed that my anti-freeze was empty and fixed the leak for me, preventing me from having future problems. They take cash, check and credit card. Unfortunately, there is only one person with the "square", so if you show up and he is not there, you have to wait until he gets back to pay by card. I'm hoping this is a problem they will rectify soon.
