What an Oasis!…read more Everyone at this hotel was kind and helpful. The restaurant (thanks for the menu adaption) and surrounding lounge area (with many books of local interest/history!) has great views of Boston's goings on, and it is steps away from many medical centers. So- a welcome stress reliever for patient and caregiver! Our room was spacious and quiet, and the warm pool is one of the best I've been in- with views of the city! Smallish, but has a spot with a current so you can just swim - or just relax at the end of the day. Valet parking was worth it, and it is 24/7. LOVED IT- will be back!

We always chose the HGI in Brookline as it was always clean, comfortable, welcoming, and conveniently located in close proximity to area hospitals. Bonus points for the awesome on-site restaurant, Punch Bowl. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend the hotel. Furthermore, I advise people to use extreme caution when checking in to the hotel. Sadly, the culture there has changed for the worst. I was absolutely astonished by the behavior of the general manager, and their staff. We were in town as I was receiving infusions at Brigham. We decided to use our rewards points for a total of FIVE nights. Booking and redemption of my reward nights were not an issue. The issues started brewing the second night into my stay. As a diamond member, you are eligible for $10 food/beverage credit, per day/per guest. We frequently dine at the on-site restaurant, Punch Bowl. This is where the problems really kicked off. I approached the desk on the second day of my reservation. I had to fight and argue to get the food/beverage credit added to the folio. This is a reoccurring issue that repeated itself every day of my stay. In addition to having to fight for my F&B credits, I also had to deal with them constantly charging my credit card the incorrect amount. We even had other people's meal charges billed to my folio and credit card. It became such a problem that my card company shut off the card and are fully prepared to fight the property for a full refund of all charges. I spent over four hours over multiple days working with multiple front desk staff and front-desk managers. This was all visible on their surveillance system that is directly above the desk. On the night before checkout, I went down to try to resolve the folio and the charges on my credit card. After two hours, the night shift manager and the desk attendant both profusely apologized for the errors on both the folio and my account. They advised they were UNABLE to articulate the folio and the amount charged to my card. I was completely floored and astounded. I have spent over 400+ days with Hilton over the past year and a half. I have always had an easy to read, easy to articulate folio. Furthermore, the manager advises me their on-site restaurant is unable to process the receipts, so they're input manually when you charge the tab to your room. They admitted that they had charged someone else's charges to my folio and credit card. I was infuriated. After two hours of time wasted, they both agreed that the amount I referenced was correct. The night attendant and manager both advised that the folio would settle after they did their night audit and that both the folio and credit card would be rectified in the morning. This morning, I wake up to an emailed folio. As expected, the issues were still rife. Fed up, I headed down to the desk to lay down the law. I met with one of the managers that I had dealt with a few days prior. He basically blew me off and ignored everything that was discussed the evening before. He continually told me to "have a nice day" and told me it was resolved. It was not. I asked for the controller or general manager. With a straight face, he tells me they do not have a controller. Every hotel has a controller to handle the financial transactions of the property. After a half hour and missing breakfast, I had enough. I spoke above normal conversational level and advised others in the lobby to check their folio. This immediately produced a magical response. The rep at the desk finally admits they have a General Manager. He calls the GM. Not two minutes later the GM comes flying off the elevator. It was a gentlemen in his early 50s-60s. Immediately, I could literally feel the anger and disgust towards me. I knew it wasn't going to go well. I was right on that. I attempt to explain how I had spent hours the night prior and that I had a handwritten post-it from his manager with the proper amount to be charged. I told him that I'd bet it was the same color post-it as he had behind the desk. He smirks at me and his staff and calls me "crazy". Additionally, I pointed to the camera directly above us. I told him to go and check the camera from last night and that he'd see us standing there for two hours trying to resolve the folio. Again, he smirks and calls me crazy. He asks me when my reservation ended. I advised that it would be at 12PM. He replies: "Great, pack your stuff and get out of my hotel." I was absolutely stunned by his behavior. I explained that I needed proper folios that are clear and concise. He continued to tell me to "get out of his hotel" and "deal with my bank". I told him I can't work with my bank without a proper folio. He continued to get in my face and continued to escalate the situation. It hit the breaking point when he asked me to "step back into his office".

There's a great breakfast every morning, there's a pool, an outdoor BBQ, a gym and lots of self parking. The room was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal, do business and get a great night's sleep. Also, an added bonus is the location; close to Cambridge and Harvard Square plus Arsenal Yards, a great open air mall with Restaurants, shopping, beauty and Ben & Jerry's, is located right across the street. I can't end this review without mentioning Sandra Lee, at the front desk, who was so warm and welcoming, and also a big help when I had to make changes to my reservation. This hotel is a total winner!

I got this hotel because I was going to see a concert close by and I'm glad I found this hotel. Upon entering a beautiful and nice welcome by Roger, who was funny, had all the best recommendations and broke all the details down about the hotel. The entrance area (waiting area) was so cozy and beautiful. They had an assortment of fashionable chairs, a beautiful fireplace and this place was so colorful which I enjoyed, very brought. The breakfast was delicious a good assortment of everything. And a huge area to eat downstairs or go up to your room and enjoy. Now when you head up there's so much artwork everywhere, I love this. The room was so cozy and big, the bathroom was HUGE! I got a suite, so it had a kitchen, a room with a pull out couch and a pretty nice sized bedroom and a huge bathroom like I said. Upon entering we had a street view which I enjoyed and realized this place was so well put together. The vibes were just perfect. The bed was super comfy. I literally had no complaints at all. I've never stayed at a hotel in MA that has shopping plazas and markets right near by, walking distance this is so convenient. I would for SURE stay here again. The employees all were very kind, didn't matter what shift they all were attentive and kind. Great job, I loved it.

When we got here, our room only had 2 sets of twin bunk beds so that was pretty weird sleeping in our own beds on a newlywed getaway hahaha. The room was tiny and had no windows to outside, and some of the outlets didn't work. they had to take a $317 charge on my card although we already paid in full with the gift card; I'm told we'll get $250 back so we'll just pay $67 in fees. The email from Giftory when we booked with the gift card said there may be fees so that wasn't a surprise. So as long as we get the $250 back I will keep my review at 4 stars. But that is a high amount to hold! I see lots of complaints on the continental breakfast but 1. I was pleased to find out they even had one because many hotels have nothing, and 2. there were lots of yummy pastries, bagels with cream cheese, oranges and apples, and cereals. The hotel is clean and stylish. Coffee, tea, and water available 24/7. Right across from the T so that was super convenient for going into other parts of the city.

Various pastries, fruit, etc., your usual fare (though nothing fancy). Staying this time (I'm still here for the next few days), the breakfast is reallly lackluster now. Bagels, bread, some spreads, cheese, and that's it. There's nothing for protein outside of peanut butter. Three years ago, they used to offer a spinach feta croissant alongside various danishes. Like I know it's continental breakfast, but this is like minimal...even other guests at the hotel have complained as much during breakfast. Now outside of breakfast, the rooms aren't bad...but they need a lot of touch ups. Our toilet flushes...really slowly. The lid of the tank doesn't match the tank size so when you flush, the plug doesn't come up all the way so it takes much longer to flush. The shower water doesn't come up to temp easily either and our shower handle is so loose it can come off. Like it doesn't align to the proper temperature either so you have to guess approximately where it is. Also when we checked in, whoever did housekeeping forgot to give us a comforter. I ran with it the first night thinking maybe due to summer that it was just the sheets. But then I went to my parents room and my husband and I realized they had a comforter. So then we had to request for one from housekeeping... On top of it all, while they offer your usual toiletries, the bottles are so small they only last for three showers or so. In turn, yet again, I had to grab more from housekeeping. Honestly, I wish the previous company came back...cause the current one, really isn't cutting it as a three star hotel. This is starting to function like a 2.5 star hotel situation.

I honestly don't understand the positive reviews…read more This hotel price gouges during events in a way I've never seen before. While we were checking in, we overheard the front desk changing a room rate down to $600 per night because, as the employee put it, "our prices were insane." Let that sink in**. $600 was the discounted price.** They had been charging over $1,000 per night simply because there was a concert in town. That's absurd. The hotel itself is basically an old motel with a fresh coat of paint. It's clean enough, but the old, dingy carpet, outdated feel, and cheap finishes make it feel like a budget roadside motel trying to pass itself off as a boutique hotel. Their biggest "luxury" amenity is a record player in the room, which feels more like a gimmick than anything else. Parking was the biggest disaster. Before we arrived, we specifically called and asked if parking would be available because we knew there was limited capacity due to the concert. We were told yes. We arrived literally five minutes later and were told there were no spots left, forcing us to pay over $300 in parking during our two-night stay. To make matters worse, as we walked to our room, we watched them valet another guest's car right in front of us. Nobody had left. A spot didn't magically appear. They told us it was reserved for special guests. Sorry my assumption for paying your outrageous prices for this motel was that I would be included in this special guest category. (update special guests were for the trailers they keep in the back) What made everything even worse was the staff's attitude. Customer service was nonexistent. Yes, the location is convenient, but Boston has countless hotels in great locations. Do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else. This place is an overpriced, dingy motel with a boutique price tag and some of the worst customer service I've experienced.
