Highlights: Run-down, sub-par service, clean, and comfortable. The receptionist took no time to tell me about the site's amenities, so my visit wasn't off to a great start. The common areas are clearly recently updated, but one of the two elevators is currently broken. Outside the common spaces, it's clear that this Courtyard has seen better days. The room experience is just fine. The bed is comfortable and it has all the things I need including a desk and a safe. The windows are clearly thin because I could hear a honking horn as though I was standing next to the car. My shower ceiling was cracking and peeling away (shown in photos). Staying here because I have a nearby event to attend, but won't choose to stay here again unless I find myself in a similar situation. Note: they do have shuttles to the nearby hospital which is helpful if you are staying for that. How does this have such good reviews on Marriott's site?

Chipped tub

Where do I start! Room wasn't ready at 3:00, waited until 3:45. Mirrors in bathroom dirty, toilet tipped to one side. Ripped carpet & wallpaper coming off walls. Employees barely speak English. We saw our housekeeper spray chemicals into glasses that were being left for us, and then take a rag and clean them. Disgusting. I could go on and on but, in a nutshell STAY ANYWHERE BUT HERE.

Aside from the extreme up-charge due to the weekend's massive graduation ceremonies, I could see myself with a 50/50 chance of returning to give this hotel another try. Gripe 1, having to wait an additional hour to check in due to the slow turnover of rooms. It makes me no never mind what is going on in town, hotels need to have their staff or extra staff on hand to accommodate the high occupancy of guests...principally when the room rates are tripled. Gripe 2, the need to request Housecleaning to come & reset my room around 3pm the following day. The flip side, is that the Housekeeper was very apologetic & personable & even gave me some extra in-room goodies. Gripe 3, each time I needed the front desk, no one would answer after 10 rings. Therefore, I or a family member would have to go down to the front desk in person, such an inconvenience. Non gripes, the Bistro staff was accommodating when they were open. Additionally, the late night staff was kind indeed for opening our bottles of wine & providing us with wine glasses oppose to the 'rinse your mouth after your brush your teeth' bathroom cups. The prices were not as extreme as I anticipated, same goes for the mini-market tucked in the corner by the ATM. For your grab-n-go they offered compact meals, non alcoholic beverages, snacks & personal items. Side note, don't ever waste your money on microwavable frozen pizza...if the young teenagers can't stomach it, you know it's horrible. Our rooms were modernized & comfy, with free WiFi, movable flat screen TV's, & a mini fridge. The dresser is designed as an old school trooper footlocker, a cool & retro touch. The lobby, furniture & decor was contemporary & staged well done. The property is a quick walk to various stores, eateries, the Coolidge Corner Trolley Stop, & a few miles to Fenway Park & Harvard Square. If I can get a better rate under $250 (even with my corporate code) & assurance my room will be reset without asking, & the front desk will answer the phone, the percentage in me returning could increase a tad bit.

I was staying in Brookline for one night only, for a work event. I got in around 2 PM and unfortunately my room wasn't ready. The girl checking me and was so sweet and she told me she would give me a call as soon as it was ready. She said I would probably only have about a half hour wait. She was exactly right. She found me in the lobby a half-hour later and my room was ready. I received a complimentary upgrade to a king suite on a high-level. It was beautiful. It overlooked the entire city with a breathtaking view and a very spacious and accommodating room. Sometimes with a Courtyard Marriott, you end up getting a really nice property, and other times it is a tad more basic and uniform. This was an occasion of having a beautiful property. They offer a fitness center that is 24 hours. Also, an indoor pool, a small snack and beverage station, as well as a restaurant open for breakfast and for dinner that also includes a bar. Of course they have their outdoor, courtyard area as well as beautiful lounge area. The customer service was great, everybody was so kind! I loved the area, as well. I didn't know too much about Brookline, but I was excited to discover everything. I walked outside and there was so much to do. There is many bars, restaurants, shopping, and even theater and entertainment. My only issue is that I was only staying for one night! Everything seemed to be going perfect until it was time to go to sleep. At about 3 o'clock in the morning I could've sworn there was a drilling convention being hosted right outside of my room. There were power drills, hammers, and just about every annoying construction noise one could imagine. I thought to myself, this can't last for too long. What would the residents of Brookline have to say about this? I used my mobile chat to reach out to hospitality within the hotel. They got back to me and said that they went outside and couldn't hear anything but they could move my room. I thought to myself, the only thing more annoying than this drilling noise is the thought of having to pick up all of my stuff and move at 4 o'clock in the morning. I'm not exaggerating when I say this continued all the way until the morning. I wanted to sleep in but I figured I might as well wake up because I wasn't really getting sleep anyways. Aside from the lack of sleep, and annoying sounds, I was really just upset because I was having a perfect stay up until this happened. For how much money it was to stay there, it was really disappointing that that was my experience. Unfortunately, because of that nightmare of a nighttime experience, I probably wouldn't return to that property because I would never know if that situation would arise again. I do want to recognize that the customer service and property was beautiful.

Very nice, close to BU and good customer service. For students looking at BU or parents it's great.

They do both reservations and walk-ins but it's safer to make a reservation ahead if you can. It's pretty easy to make one as well; we only booked a day ahead for a Friday night. Amazing first impressions as well. They make a tiny space work perfectly; I did not feel claustrophobic at all even with full house. They have really cute decors and the space is decorated well. They have their seasonal cocktails that you can choose your choice of liquor for and martinis (both vodka and gin). They brew their espresso fresh as well so the space smells so good every time it is brewed. I got a Peru Plunder and it was fruity and light (a dangerous one). Their apple pie old fashioned has an interesting aftertaste in a good way. The bartender and the server were attentive and friendly as well. I had a great time and will definitely be coming back. -9.1/10

Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Socialite Isabel Weld Perkins and her husband Larz Anderson purchased their first motorcar in 1899…read moreand continued to purchase a new motorcar almost every year through Isabel's passing in 1948. As their collection grew, most of their retired vehicles were stored in the Carriage House on their estate in Brookline. In 1927, the Anderson family opened their collection for tours and, upon Isabel's death in 1948, she bequeathed her estate and automobiles to the town of Brookline with the stipulation that both be entrusted to a non-profit organization for the public. Today, the Larz Anderson Auto Museum features rotating exhibits on the ground floor and select vehicles from the museum's permanent collection on the lower level. It's a small collection, with only about 10-12 vehicles on loan from others on display in the rotating exhibits and 16 vehicles (4 of which still run and drive) from permanent collection on display at any given time. At the time of this review in September 2024, the current rotating exhibit features several post-World War II vehicles from the US and Europe, along with a small display of print and television advertising campaigns. Given the size of the museum, you can easily view the collection without rushing in about an hour. The museum hosts events on its vast lawn during the spring, summer and fall, including Cars & Coffee Boston gatherings that are open to all makes and models and other themed events that cater to specific genres of automobiles and motorcycles, including European, American, custom, Japanese tuner, alternative fuels, trucks, hot rods, and motorcycles. The museum also hosts occasional track days at Palmer Motorsports Park. Check the museum's website (https://www.larzanderson.org/) for more information. PRO TIP: The museum and its lawn are also available for rent to host private events, such as weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, and corporate team building events with indoor capacity of 150 for a standing cocktail style reception or up to 100 for a formal seated dinner.

I was very unsure which area to stay in, but I'm so happy I chose CCB because the location is absolutely perfect. Back Bay is very nice and safe. You even have a wonderful park just outside the doorstep to walk around, and the lovely Boston Commons only two blocks away. Check-in/out was one of the most seamless experiences I've had with hotels/airbnbs. I didn't have to check in with anyone, and I received the door code a few days before. They have a lovely dining room for guests with homemade cookies, fruit, coffee and tea. Unfortunately I didn't take advantage of the breakfast, but I'm sure it's great too. CCB is really the perfect mix of a hotel and bed/breakfast. I was unsure about doing the solo room with a shared bathroom, but other than having to wait for the other guest to finish his shower so I could take an urgent bio break, it was no issue at all and I would hands down do it again. I'm pretty sure the other floors have a bathroom if you absolutely need it though. For the location, price, comfort, and amenities, College Club of Boston is a no brainer. I got the please to quickly meet the GM on my way out, and she is super sweet. I even left my airpods in the room, and without hesitation they are shipping them back to me. 5 starts forsure.
