    Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo

So, this restaurant came highly recommended. I was unfortunately disappointed in this place. When we walked in, there are tables right there and the hostess station is next to the bar behind all the tables so you have to make your way back there to check in. . We had a reservation for 7:30, we got there about 7:20 and had to wait which was fine because we wanted a drink at the bar first. I ordered a drink, but before our drinks were made the bartender asked me if we had a reservation. When I said yes, he proceeded to make our drinks. My old fashioned was really, really good, totally worth the $12, I even ordered a second! We finally sat down, around 7:30, finally had our order taken around 8, took 35 minutes to get our salads and another hour to get our food. For a Saturday night at 7:30 they were out of ALL filet dishes, which was ok because we all wanted pasta. My friends ordered shrimp Alfredo, after about an hour of waiting we were told that they only had enough shrimp for one meal, so one person had to change their meal. My friend and I ordered chicken Alfredo, which in a "nicer" place I expect a grilled chicken breast on top of my noodles. This dish had small chunks of chicken mixed in, which overall was fine, just not what I was expecting. The flavor of the Alfredo was ok, nothing special. I would go back for drinks but certainly not food. My friend ordered a refill of coke and was handed a can of coke- unopened and not poured into her glass. it was very odd. We were never asked if we needed more drinks, we had to flag her down and ask for them, also there was no salt and pepper on the table, when we went to find our server, she was sitting at the bar! There are only about 12 tables in the whole place and service was not the greatest. Will most likely not return to this place.

Anthony's is a secret Liason, an Amore, justly described by a previous review. We came to see for ourselves. It's simple exterior hides a woodsy log interior where dining is intimate and exceptional. I asked that the Walleye be skinless, and I was handsomely accommodated. We have been Wisconsin natives for five decades, and we simply didn't imagine a custom fine dining experience the likes of Anthony's existed near Woodruff. The charming couple that began this restaurant, Katy and Tony, served us barside (Katy) and grill side (Tony). It's clear from listening (eavesdropping at the bar) that they have their hearts on this little bistro, and the patronage on a Sunday was surprising, a day when Chicago patrons would have been gone. The Walleye was the finest I've had, and I've had a lot. Don't bring the kids, bring your date. It's a little pricey, but your date will find your knowledge of the Minocqua area's fine dining to your credit. Try Amthony's.

Absolutely delicious. Enjoyed meeting the owners Tony & Katy and learning their personal connections to the Northwoods, one could make the case that the historic Milwaukee Road depot that houses Anthony's Restaurante is the perfect melding between Star Lake and Tomahawk, WI - their respective home towns. Loved the historic, charming, and kitchy atmosphere of the log railway depot. We've driven by a hundred times and never taken the time to stop, honestly one of my bigger mistakes as the hospitality at Anthony's Restaurante was genuine and "home town", and the food was excellent. Our entrees were delicious; she had the seafood alfredo and I had the Jamison Filet. Both served with icy crisp house salads and cranberry butter for the slices of french bread. This was our first visit and most certainly will not be our last, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our meals. Thank you Katy and Tony for making us feel so welcome.

BEWARE a $20 plate fee is charged if you share a meal!!!!!! Food was subpar at best. Pasta should not be expensive.

I mentioned this to him and he insisted he wrote it down the way I told him. I explained I read it directly from my sheet and showed him the sheet, again. He finally agreed to have another pizza made, correctly, but after I had to 'act like a Karen', unfortunately. He was rude and seemed annoyed when I came in saying I wanted to place a to-go order. I don't think he would have fixed the issue if I hadn't made a big deal about it. The gentleman was very rude! We have been getting pizza there every year for 30+ years on our vacation. We will NOT be going back.

We received our meals with a comp loaf of bread. I'm GF so passed on the bread. My husband said it was average and appreciated. He had the prim rib and I had a tenderloin steak with mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes which the first couple of bites in the end was chewy but as I moved to the next bites it was very tender. I enjoyed the Hungarian mushroom soup and my husband enjoyed his clam chowder. We were too full for dessert and I took 1/2 of my meal home to enjoy for lunch the next day. We didn't try any cocktails. We would go back to try more menu items, maybe something light so a dessert could be enjoyed.

While not as chic as a fine dining establishment in a metropolitan area like Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago or New York, it's as classy as it gets north of highway eight. We made a reservation for a Saturday evening - they could have accommodated us as walk-ins (and walk-ins are welcome) but I'd err on calling for a reservation and securing a table, especially on a popular day of the week. With a reservation we were promptly seated and waited on. I started with a dry martini and my wife picked a wine from a pretty decent wine list. It was a great martini--see my photos. Many of the items on the menu are what one would expect, but there were a few that piqued my interest, in particular the schnitzel. As a frequent visitor to the Austrian Tirol and Bavaria, I had to give it a try. My wife opted for salmon. The entrees included soup or salad. I went with lobster bisque and my wife went with chicken noodle soup. The bisque was rich and flavorful. Though the bread stick was out of a box as opposed to baked in house, it was an acceptable accompaniment to the soup. As for the entree, the schnitzel was prepared the way I like it--pan fried and not deep fried. With a properly breaded, seasoned and crispy crust, the pork itself was perfectly cooked. I could eat a schnitzel like this every day! The Spätzle was fine and the sauce tasted good but it was a little thin. The red cabbage was definitely sour but lacked the sweetness necessary to balance the acid. I'd suggest that the chef check out the red cabbage recipe from Alinea which has an excellent balance of sweet and sour. And one more suggestion to mimic the schnitzel I've had in the Tirol and Bavaria, a dollop of sweet jelly to spread on the cutlet--preferably a white wine jelly fortified with herbs like rosemary. That said, the dish was great and I would order it again. I only took a bite of my wife's entree, but the hollandaise and salmon was good. She especially liked the kale. To end the evening we shared a dessert. My wife makes a DG tiramisu and we've had some great tiramisu's in Italy. This one was right up there, though the espresso soaked lady fingers were a bit weak. Nevertheless, as you can see from my photo, we demolished it. A nice grappa or Tirolian schnapps would have been the perfect finale but alas the bar was not that well stocked. All in all a decent dinner, a place I will return to in the future, and a great addition to the culinary scene in the region.

We were in town for my daughters wedding and I called at about 5:30 to get a 6pm reservation for 6. They easily accommodated, and after being there for a few moments one of the ladies told us there was only 3 people working, but let me tell you, they never skipped a beat. Everything we ordered was delicious, and I highly recommend a crock of their house made soups. I had the French onion and it was so good. For mains my husband ordered the steak tips with spaetzel, friends got the pasta, but the real star was the empress chicken! It was perfect! Also.. I would be a let down if I didn't tell you to order the cheese curds. Fried perfectly, light and crispy, not greasy.. and so so so good!
