This place has moved recently as of this writing, and is now in a building which appears to be shared with other businesses and is another on a list of good places I've found in (checks notes) Abingdon Virginia. The dessert part is at street level on the back, and you'l walk by ostentatious indoor and outdoor seating to get there. The spread was mouthwatering. Desserts are sold on looks, and there was plenty to ogle for a minute before I decided. Despite many chocolate options and some house ice cream, I was tempted by a dessert that looked like a lemon (some effort must have gone into texturing the skin), but was in fact a mousse with blueberries in the middle. Lemon blueberry is a southern thing and I didn't used to think much of that flavor combination, but the more times I've had it done right the more it's grown on me. The creation here was moist and layered, with macerated blueberries forming a sharp counterpoint to the bulk of the flavor. Realistically, this is one of those places that if you have special dietary needs is probably not for you. And if you're just trying to avoid calories, get out fast before you're tempted to eat one of everything. But my philosophy has always been if I'm going to do dessert, it'd better be great, and this is a quality dessert. read more

Greeted friendly by young lady. The display of options was absolutely beautiful. I purchased tiramisu and it was light fluffy and divine. I asked the ladies favorite which was the s'mores, oh my God she was right it was a fluffy chocolate mouse inside with a marshmallow topping in the shape of a beehive, adorned with 3 little chocolate bees with gold adornment's . My first time in new location saw Anthony coming up the dumbwaiter with more trays of gorgeous deserts. This is a must go, must eat and serve these at your next gathering. I still a have a bright yellow lemon shaped desert to try filled with blueberries can't wait. Awesome first date location. Outside seating as well. Can't wait for fancy coffees to be up And running. Nothing but LOVE!! I look forward to every trip to see my daughter and I will always come here every time. We were running through and only had time for a quick grab as we were on our way to other places. Next time I'm putting a cooler in the car. What was this madness of delicious I walked in to?! We grabbed some things that would hold throughout our travels. I should have known better. Swiss meringue that looks like a beehive and mousse bubbles?! Ugh. I hate myself for not indulging and making a mess...especially with being here only twice a year. Next time better planning will happen. Brownies here are heavenly and thick and rich and amazing. My son has to have one every time. The eclair was delicious. The choux was perfectly cooked. I tip my hat. Key lime pie was perfectly tart. Peanut butter cheesecake is always a winner. I can't tell if it is plastic or something, but I am not ever buying their bakery items. Please understand that Anthony's Desert has really good quality. Matching Black Bird. But in my opinion too expensive. but not to expensive to treat your self once and awhile. the problem is have Anthony. Rude and make ups rules when he is at the cashier or alone in his store. example. we have stop there many time and purchase a ice cream cone. filled with two flavors. Yesterday he said we one do one flavor cones. as long as it is the same amount of ice cream. what dose it matter ( you may need to clean two spoons) made no since. also i ordered a crème brûlée and he would not torch the top like i have had done many times before. My family visits this place weekly. We have considered it a must stop every weekend. We however will not be returning again after the customer service we experienced on 11/23/24. The individual working the counter went above and beyond to make us feel a bother and not welcomed, which is fine. I know my 50 dollar or so a week purchase is just a drop in the bucket to them. I am a firm believer in treating a customer with decency and respect. We were made to feel as we were a bother and not welcomed. Excellent coffee & tea place. They also sell ice cream cones & pints/quarts. Had we known, we would've come here instead of the place down the street which says ice cream but was quite expensive for a tiny scoop on a cone. Their desserts in the case here look INSANE. Amazing desserts! My husband and I stopped by here on our way back from Tennessee on our honeymoon. Wish this place was closer! We got a slice of the caramel macchiato and a raspberry brownie. No matter where we travel my mister has to find a sweet spot. He got his sweet tooth satisfied with the peanut butter pie and he convinced me to get something even though I was full from my lunch. Highly disappointed:( not on the taste of the food but, I called to place a special order 2 pies for my dad's birthday one PB Reese cup pie and one key lime pie for his birthday party. Anyways not one time did the lady that answered say these are single serving pies like 3 bites lol! We pick them up and ask because we special ordered them the lady says we don't do whole pies anymore. Oh my goodness, I said so even at Thanksgiving??! She said not at all. We have always ordered many of pies and love them and loved the single serving ones too but, not what we was expecting. So my Dad loved the pie but we had to buy cupcakes too. I entered the store just to take a glance because I was on my way to dinner but couldn't resist the dantiy cakes. My friend and I got tiramisu and a raspberry cheesecake. Both were on the sweet side for me but still delicious. The tiramisu was creamy with a rich espresso flavor. Excellent little desert place in the center of town. It smelled of freshly baked cookies as we walked in the shop. My parents enjoyed the homemade ice cream in a waffle cone. My girlfriend and I were in from California to visit my family in Bristol, and we decided to take a short drive to Abingdon. We checked out the information center, and on the way out, we asked about any good bakeries in the area. The worker there was quick to suggest Anthony's. We took a drive up and down Main St. and the Sinking Springs Cemetery and didn't get to walk due to the rain, and then we went over the Anthony's. There is free parking in front of the store, and it seems to be available on weekdays without any issue (I'm guessing weekends get a little busy on the main strip). The bakery is simple, and the owner and his staff/friends are behind the counter constantly prepping things to go in the oven or the display cases. This let us know that whatever we ordered would probably be fresh, at the very least. It turned out to also be amazingly delicious. We ordered a caramel cheesecake, coffee, and a tea. After eating the cheesecake, we had to order some more items to take on the road. We ended up staying and eating some of the orange-basil sorbet (they have fresh, homemade ice creams and sorbets here, too), which was refreshing and good for a summer day. We stocked up on a variety of cheesecakes to take to family: vanilla bean, black cherry, caramel, and key lime. I also bought some cream pies, cookies, and a lemon tart. All of them were delicious and well-received by my family. We also found that they all keep well in the fridge for at least several days. Overall, this is an outstanding establishment that makes quality dessert items. I wholeheartedly recommend the place to anyone with a sweet tooth who may be passing through the Abingdon area. read more

I had a mean sweet tooth that store bought cookies or ice creaming weren't doing the trick for so I stopped by and let me tell you.. that craving was beyond met! I got a butterfinger cheesecake and key lime pie, one word; YUM! The cheesecake was rich and not overly sweet. The key lime pie was the perfect blend of tart and sweet and had a great consistency. Oh my goodness!!! What a heavenly smell when we walked in. The young lady at the counter was very nice and helpful! She told us the the cheesecakes are their sellers. I had the Oreo cookies cheesecake and we had the chocolate peanut butter pie along with a white chocolate mocha. We did take a health brownie with us. It was all delicious but the pie was the best. What a wonderful place to go to for desert! All pastries are homemade and you can watch the owner make them in front of you in his bake shop. The only downside: you don't know what to get 'cause they all look equally delicious... and let me tell you they all are!
