Our son's Ram 2500 diesel was having transmission problems and we took it to Empire Automotive on a Thursday for diagnostics. Chris called me the next morning to let me know the transmission was in fact toast and would need replacement. However, he had good news for us. He saw a warranty sticker on the transmission and called the company and found out the transmission was still under warranty. The transmission company sent out a replacement transmission free of charge and helped cover the cost of the installation. Chris installed the new transmission and made sure it was all dialed in by the following Wednesday. I was only charged for the diagnostic and installation of the transmission, which was very reasonably priced and I will get reimbursed for a big chunk of it from the transmission company to boot. I appreciate their honesty and integrity with their customers, and I never felt like they were trying to pad their profits. Just good folks looking out for their customers. They could have just as easily ignored the sticker, like I'm sure occurs more than we know at other garages, and charged us for a transmission as well, since we had no idea the transmission had a warranty when we bought it. They have certainly won my trust and I will not hesitate to take my vehicles there going forward. The vehicle was at 1800-2000 miles since the last oil change at the time that I brought it in. After I paid them, I asked how the inspection went and if there were any notes. I was told there were no notes. I asked if that meant everything was fine. They said yes. On Monday 10/12 I had to have my truck towed to them due to engine knocking. When they inspected it the next day, they said the engine was destroyed and there were 4 1/2 quarts of oil missing. My brother went to their shop and asked if they check fluids during the inspection on 10/9. They said no. When I called later that day, Tony admitted that they never did the inspection despite charging me $185.00 for a COMPLETE motor vehicle inspection. They then quoted me $7000.00-$8500 for an engine replacement. I called them to try and contact the owner to see if they would discuss the situation with us. They refused to put us in contact with the owner to try and make it right. I was recommended to bring my truck here based on the reputation of the previous owners and I regret doing so. They misled me, lied to me several times, and refuse to communicate with my brother and I about the situation that they put us in. They put me in a vehicle that was not operational and they assured me they inspected it when they did not. They even tried to tell me that the diagnostic for the oxygen sensor (which takes under a minute), was the inspection that I paid $185.00 for. Their negligence is costing me thousands of dollars. Do not bring your vehicle to them for even the most basic services. They will screw you over and lie to your face.
