This was an awesomely positive experience, which is unfortunately rare these days…read more Sunset provided a quote by email, after I provided words and pictures to describe what we were looking for. Their guys showed up on time. They were courteous. They were respectful of us, and respectful of our home. They asked for our input when they got to a part that required some judgement. They performed mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and drywall work. All done nearly to perfection. And they passed the acid test; after they left, I noticed two small things which I thought could have done better. They returned immediately and made these right. And they sent an invoice almost a week later (giving us an opportunity to discover any other issues, which we did NOT), and the invoice was for the exact amount of the estimate. They accepted my credit card payment over the phone. Our job was a small one, but they have definitely encouraged us to contact them again for our next job - small or large. Exceptionally excellent experience.

I cannot stress the relief my husband and I felt when Mark said Sunset Tile and Bath have a roofer. The gentleman's name, also Mark (I'll refer to as roofer Mark) was as competent, meticulous and professional as every other member we have encountered through Sunset Tile and Bath. Roofer Mark assessed, photographed and answered questions regarding our roof needs. Roofer Mark completed everything a week before our heavy rains occurred. His cleanup was remarkable---I found 2 nails---that's it! My husband and I are grateful to have a company that takes pride in their professions. Many thanks to Roofer Mark and his crew---and to Sunset Tile and Bath. Maureen M

I had an amazing experience with Josh at Shelves that slide. I wanted to take a cabinet in my new…read morekitchen that has a depth of 11" and wanted to add a slide out shelf. I found shelves that slide through Google search because a sliding shelf for that size cabinet is not a standard size. (This was a new kitchen where I placed the cabinets under my seating area at my island. A slide out would make it easier for me since I put my kitchen aid mixer and a blender in there). I called and spoke with josh. He told me exactly what I needed and we did the measurements together. Josh made it so easy. The cost was so in line and I am very happy! About a week later, the shelf arrived and the install was nice and easy!

Tracy, the installer, made a house call and gave us some great suggestions about what kind of shelving would work best for us. The price quote was reasonable and less than I expected. We gave him our order and he was back in a couple of weeks with 6 finished roll out shelves, custom sized to fit our cabinets. Tracy installed 4 shelves in our pantry and 2 larger ones in the cabinet over the refrigerator and it only took him an hour! This company uses quality materials and the final product is clearly assembled by skilled craftsman. We love our new shelves and highly recommend this company.

Such a great experience, and I keep staring at my new kitchen with wonder…read more When we bought our house 7 years ago, I did not love the kitchen. It was serviceable, but the honey oak builder-standard did not go well with the grey floors. Oh well, we made it work. After 7 years in the house, the finish was wearing, and some of the drawers wouldn't stay closed; we could finally say it was time to make the kitchen ours. I got quotes from several contractors and ended up going with Dan from Better than New Kitchens for several reasons: 1. He spent TIME with me to understand what I wanted; he also wasn't afraid to make recommendations to change what I initially thought in the interest of budget and what would actually work for my needs. 2. The quote was detailed. It included all the special features that we discussed, including separate pricing for some options I wasn't sure would fit the budget but wanted to consider. In quotes from other vendors, I couldn't tell if they had actually had listened to me and they did not include all of the features and options discussed. I work in requirements myself (software) and having all of it spelled out was very important to me so for sure I knew what I was paying for. 3. Dan's passion. This guy loves his work, and you can tell. All of that came to fruition in the build. Super efficient, professional team, and my kitchen is beautiful. No surprises! We didn't just refinish the existing kitchen; we also extended the kitchen against the back of our dining area wall. This gave me an amazing appliance garage, a mixer stand that pops up from a cabinet, and way, way more storage space. Highly recommend Dan and his team.

We just finished refacing a large kitchen with 39 year old oak cabinets …read more We found Better than new Kitchens just by internet shopping and posted reviews . When possible I like to support small independent local businesses and made the call for an estimate . Dan the owner spent a lot of time at our in home visit to review the scope , made great suggestions on 2 new pots and pan drawers and assured us we would not know they were refaced but would look like new cabinets . We chose a beautiful Maple wood with new drawers on amazing soft close silent hardware . The work crew was professional , skilled craftsmen that figured out every little corner and angle to perfection . I am amazed at the quality of work . The transformation is stunning . My adult daughter just saw the new kitchen today for the first time and was so impressed she thought it was all new boxes from the ground up ! We recommend better than new Kitchens 100 % for refacing .They are an honest local company that delivers on their project promise.

Consignment stores are loads of fun. They're like very high-end thrift shops, and most sell a…read morelittle of everything: furniture, nick-knacks, dishes, paintings, jewelry. Whenever I go to J&B, I see some really interesting pieces. Just a sample: Living room sets. Brocade fabrics. A baby grand piano. Folding bookcase. An old ice chest, still sporting the original metal manufacturing plate. A hand painted pine hutch. Even six stackable stools of wood with leather cushions, probably meant for eating close to the floor. Today I bought a leather couch. After spending much too much time looking on Craig's List and traveling all over creation to try out some really dreadful couches (owners are not always the most objective), my friend told me about a great couch at J&B. We went there, sat, and it was perfect! Everyone in the store is very nice. The owner, Barb, works hard to bring in unusual and lovely items. She cleans them to make sure they're free of stains and pet odors, and then puts them on display. Sellers get a contact for 90 days. After 60 days, the store offers a 25% discount to move the items. Barb told me that she'll hold the items for you if you can't pick them up right away. You never know what you'll find, because merchandise can change daily. And because the items are gently used, some might be antiques. Give this store a try. You might find a treasure.
