    Kite Festival (We're stoked!)

Today my son and I stopped by Ansin Park, after a long day running errands, to check out the facility and see what they had to offer. We popped into the office to inquire about the track and gym facilities and to find out what we could take advantage of as new residents in the area. The staff members were very helpful (I wish I was better with names to properly shot out the gentleman who helped us-I will find out and come back to update as he was really great) and gave us a tour of the various areas for fitness and recreation. They made us feel welcomed and generated good vibes, as I asked 60-11 questions-getting a feel for the parks offerings. Needless to say, they had something to offer for the whole fam, from my 7 year old (Art and Youth Programing) on up to a nice weight room for the boys and a state of the art Olympic style Track for my runners, the most athletic of our bunch. I will be returning with my five kiddos to sign up for the monthly resident pass ($20!!) so that we can get the Rona-stillness and idleness out of our bones and get active. It makes me excited to see such community focused efforts. I'm more than excited to utilize the FRIENDLY, CLEAN and SUPREMELY WELL MAINTAINED facilities at Ansin. Thanks for the tour!

Ansin Sports Complex is a refreshingly clean and well maintained Track and Field stadium. I've been here several times and they have always been very well organized. The field, prior to sustained abuse from competitors is always flawless. Image a 15 pound weight flying 40 meters to crash into grass... there will be potholes! That said, the grounds crew does a great job of fixing it up for the next event. Fortunately, every time I've been here, it's been a clear sky kind of day. I usually end up leaving with a nice sun burn. My only complaint is the lack of shaded areas... but frankly, I'm not sure where to put them other than the edges of the track. On a previous visit, I got to tour the internal lockers and they were in great shape. Bottom Line: Great place to have an event, but bring something to create some shade!!

I love the covered stadium. I did not need to bring my tent. I was very comfortable.

If you do not live in Miramar they will charge you $2 to use the tracks. It's also always full.

As such, it has very little shaded areas aside from the covered shelters, playgrounds & amphitheater. I come here couple times a week for the boys soccer events and practice. The lawns are usually well kept and even. It's great for many types of workouts, walks, etc. It's a great spot to catch a sunset on a clear day as well. The bathroom facilities were ok, sparsely located for this sized park.

The park features multiple large open fields, playgrounds, and baseball fields. There are also bathrooms conveniently located throughout. We visited for the Miramar Kite Festival, which was such a fun experience. The city did a fantastic job organizing the event. There were multiple food trucks, a DJ, and a variety of tent vendors, including the city, fire rescue, PDQ, and other local businesses. One of the highlights was that the city gave out free kites to all guests. The turnout was great, and the atmosphere was lively. One large field was dedicated to kite flying, while a baseball outfield was set up as a kids' zone with several bounce houses for different age groups. We brought a picnic setup and beach chairs and truly enjoyed spending the day here. Overall, it was a wonderful event, and this park is a great place to visit!

This is not the case at all! In the front of the park, there are 3 pavilions, a playground and splash pad. One of my parties was in this area. And it was great. You can enjoy the party while watching your kids play on the playground or the splash pad as everything is in close proximity. There is one pavilion that is a little further away but not too far away. The second party was in the nature center that is technically connected to the office. There is a closed in area and back patio. The back patio is where the second party was as it was a picnic theme. In addition to that the park offers a walking trail and someone mentioned that there is an area to see animals. I am not sure of the extent to that.

My friend and I have a pact to run every Saturday this month while exploring parks around Broward and this first Saturday of September we ventured to Miramar Pineland Park. I was not looking forward to this run since the first photos I saw were a trail with no shade but luckily, 3/4 of the trail were covered by shady trees! This park has the standar $1.50 per person entrance fee for weekends and holidays. Once you enter, the first part has a few pavilions for parties and a big playground with a splash pad (currently not in service.) If you keep driving, it leads you to the new Nature Center (I think) that isn't open yet and the beginning of one of their trails. This is the one we chose to take. It was very hot at 10am but we welcome the covered trail. Along the trail, there's a pathway that leads to a gazebo which overlooks nothing at the moment. If you run around the trail twice, it covers one mile. The nature center looks really nice and looks like it could be used for a wedding party or larger gatherings. The only thing is parking seems limited so I'm interested to see if they add any later. Driving out of the park, we noticed that there is also a "Wetland Trail" so you bet this is going to be one of our future runs. Hopefully we remember to bring sunblock as it looks like this one doesn't have any shade.

You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.
