Twenty of my family had lunch at Ann's and all of us left VERY happy! Decor is far from fancy but the food and prices are the star here. The special that day was TWENTY FIVE shrimp - fried, grilled or boiled - with 3 sides for $13.99 - you won't find that kind of bargain anywhere else. The shrimp were medium large and we could tell as the platters passed by our noses that they'd be perfection. Owner Elaine was very gracious, and she's a hoot! This place looks tiny and inconspicuous when you drive by. But upon entering it's huge and decorated with all sorts of Americana. The menus are on the walls but they also have menus you can hold. I had the catfish and shrimp and it was delicious. Served with coleslaw and pinto beans first and fries and hush puppies with the meal. The pintos were so good. Food is always good. Prices are fair. Atmosphere is ok, like a mom and pop cafe style restaurant but has a huge amount of clutter around and statues of animated characters. The tables are clean but the restaurant is so stuffed with life size characters and other things there is no way to keep all that wiped down and dusted. There are handwritten signs everywhere about religion which can be offensive to some. With prices like they are, and in the case of some people that don't eat a large meal, sometimes people would like to share a meal and there are signs saying no sharing. This the the most "I feel like home" place that I think I've ever been to. The decor is nice, the people are kind and talk to you like they're your grandma. I ended up getting the 25, piece shrimp plate and let me tell you, it's an actual 25 piece shrimp plate! Not small shrimp either, but nicely breaded jumbo shrimp! Normally you have to buy this (11.99) with a drink (2.50 ish) but I didn't know that and they let me buy a brownie to replace the drink. The shrimp itself was quite nice. The breading wasn't falling off and the seasoning went a long way. They have ketchup and tartar sauce at every table and if you don't have any, just ask and they'll give you some. Overall: Probably the best seafood place in all of liberty and some of the kindest people here! I would easily recommend this place to anyone in town. read more

My husband and I ate at Ann's many times for several years. They had great service and treated customers like family then one day we were looking forward to our usual fare at Ann's and we're shocked that the food was so awful! I had boiled crabs and gumbo and my husband ordered his usual meal of fried catfish, the food was sooooo bad we both decided to leave! We never went back. Don't know what happened in the kitchen but I hope for Ann that things changed!!!!! I liked eating there and would like Togo back but I'm Leary of getting the same bad meal! This is my second trip here as I wanted to be sure the first time was no fluke. The catfish was unbelievable! (I am not a catfish eater). We had the "All You Can Eat Catfish" and combo plate and it was just as good as the last trip. Lots of choices from Alligator bites shrimp and just about anything that swims - including crawfish. Last trip, I tried gator for the first time and really liked it. I will however, still pass on the crawfish - but if anyone can make it taste good I am sure Ann's can. No frills down home atmosphere. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant ,keep going. If you want good food make sure you stop in. PROS: Taste was outstanding, portions were plentiful and the service was very friendly. (Note traveling to Houston) My wife and I decided to stop at Ann's (first time visit) and we are glad we stopped here. Liz was friendly and the food was hot and delicious. They sell a variety of local jellies and got a jaw of Strawberry. When we got home, we had biscuits and the jelly is some of the best strawberry jelly I've ever eaten. Excellent food! Nice selection of lunch specials, but you must pay attention to all the sign boards around the room. I had the grilled shrimp lunch special with marvelous slaw. My daughter loved the beans and grilled cheese sandwich as well. Has restrooms which are large enough for wheelchair, but no lever handles on doors or water faucets. This place had the worst service I have ever seen. We ordered our meal and an hour and a half later we walked out of the place paying for our drinks. They wanted to charge us $95 for a meal we didn't even get to eat. The waitress and Manager were rude.
