This place has incredible potential. My review really is somewhere between a 3 and 4 but I am rounding it up because I truly hope they stay in business and are able to work out some of the kinks. The menu was varied and it was really nice to have some Spanish tapas flare in between a thousand fried clam shacks. The atmosphere was relaxed and quaint with a romantic backyard magic. I was simultaneous transported far away while still feeling the New England charm of dining in the forest. Our meals were decent enough- we ordered a salmon burger, the watermelon gazpacho and a salmon salad. The salmon burger was good, but it was literally just a sandwich on a plate. No fries, no sides, zilch. For close to $20. The salmon salad was the best part of the meal. It was cooked to perfection with a quail egg, gorgeous baby greens. Really good. The watermelon "gazpacho" needs to be removed from the menu. If not removed, then served as a drink. It was cold clear liquid with three or four corn nuts floating in it. For our dining experience, things went down hill due to the service. We went on a Tuesday night- so it was pretty quiet. Our waitress didn't write anything down any time she spoke to us and inevitably screwed up everything we ordered, every single time. It seemed almost too ridiculous to be true, She brought the wrong drinks, in the wrong sizes. She brought us something we didn't order. We would get to the end of saying what we wanted and she would repeat it back 100% wrong. It was actually sort of interesting to try and imagine where her mind was at. I think this was their first summer in business and I hope it is not their last. Damariscotta is a tough town to "make-it" in as a new restaurant and I hope they find their quiet tourists who are looking to step away from the chaos downtown. We are excited to go back next year and see how things are going!

Cozy and charming, with great caring service and delicious food. We had dinner on a Wednesday evening, and the place was quietly busy. One of our party had a food allergy, and rather than limit her, the chef made a special effort, sending out separate bread service and making substitutions. The Caesar salad was excellent. The fish entree, mahi mahi, was perfectly prepared, moist and flavorful. The Brazilian beef special was massive but so good my husband devoured every bite. We will be back to try paella, which another patron recommended highly!

The Seafood Chowder is possibly one of the best things I've ever had (and I've had my fair share of food). It was made fresh and such a nice size portion. They brought complimentary GF bread and hummus, Caesar salad was also great and our coconut curry mahi was soooo good. This spot has a cool vibe, delicious food, and great service. They also had really good gluten free options!

Food was delicious and they even made slight changes for us. Server, Christy, is super sweet. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed out food and the music. There are also picnic tables in the lawn. Very cute place

Great new place in Damariscotta, an absolute jem! The food, ambiance and service were amazing. Do not miss this place, literally nothing like it in the region. You will be blown away by the food!

What an incredible farm-to-table meal at Primo in Rockland!…read moreThe setting is fantastic--it feels like an old home that has been beautifully converted into a restaurant. Each level has its own personality, with just a handful of tables in each room and different décor throughout. And the food? Amazing. The portions are just the right size--perfect for sharing...or for holding onto your plate so nobody else gets a bite! Everything we had was beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The staff really puts the experience over the top. Extremely friendly, sociable, knowledgeable, and more than willing to offer some excellent recommendations. Make your reservation WELL in advance. With an atmosphere this unique, fantastic farm-to-table food, and service you'd expect from a Michelin-level restaurant, it's no surprise Primo fills up fast. Can't wait to get back to Rockland--and Primo will absolutely be on the itinerary!

My wife and I have been celebrating as many anniversaries as we can at Primo. With the exception of…read more2020 and 2025 we haven't missed a year. However. This year made us realize that this is our last year. It was our 25th and we were looking forward to it. It started with the hostess who was annoyed that we showed up 7 minutes early for our reservation and told us they were running on time and to take a walk in the garden and come back at the exact time of our reservation. Which we did. We were seated by the manager who seemed impatient. He handed us the menus and walked off. A detail I didn't consider until I noticed that the other manger handed the menus and went over some drink specials and menu specials. Our server was nice in the beginning although seemingly distracted. We found out a little later they had a wedding party upstairs and the kitchen was behind. We didn't mind because we were there for the experience as much as the food. However as the night rolled on and things took longer and longer, the staff seemed more and more annoyed with us for ordering our meal. By the end of the meal, our server asked if we wanted a cheese or dessert service and seemed very annoyed when we said yes. At this point we were 2 1/2 hours in and they wanted us out. However, we were still there because it had taken so long for our service and food. In the end we split a strawberry shortcake, which was very good, I had a coffee, and we got out of there. They wanted us out and we didn't want to stay any more. What is sad is we have been celebrating our anniversary for 20 years there as often as we can and this, our 25th was the worse experience we have ever had and we won't return. It broke our hearts.

It was creative and delish. we had Calamari with a basil olio and of course I asked for more lemon, hey I'm Greek. We ordered the lamb chops with greens (horta) and potatoes. the lamb was from upstate Maine and was very fresh and cooked perfectly, the potatoes were crispy. The restuarant was in a nice homey neighborhood and we found street parking no problem. The restaurant is lovely inside, light and airy with an island feel. the waitstaff was very nice and friendly and our meals and drinks came out in perfect time. we met Nancy the owner who we became fast friends. she smart dedicated and creative.
