Mosquitoes were a real nuisance and bird flying around in restaurant were ignored by wait staff. Not a place for good food. Usually have to wait 1 1/2-2 hours to get your food after they take your order. Bad attitude specifically the owners sister that is the manager and she loves to argue with the customers. Some of the food that we have experienced were served cold and some even reheated. We have tried it several times in the last 12 years and it hasn't change a bit... Still bad service. Only tourist keep going there because they may not know any better, but the locals do not go there. They go to the other restaurants around the area that have way better food and better service with a smile. Not recommended. read more

Make sure you get a seat by the water because the only thing you are paying for is the view. Painfully slow service, sat for 20 minutes and finally got up and got our own menus. Only then did she get our drink order. Took another 30 minutes to get our food. Food wasn't terrible but below average. Waitress never followed up after we got our food. Fortunately my wife is a slow drinker so i had something else to drink. Then had to get up to request our check. And to top it all off there was no soap or paper towels in either bathroom. i hated this place. this is the worst restaurant i have ever been to and i've been to thousands. we arrived at 6 and the waiter did not show up for 40 minutes. we ordered and the food did not arrive until 8 pm. we asked for water repeatedly and it never came. all meals were terrible. i got a burger and fries and i've never had worse. the fries were like drinking straight up oil. my sister had spaghetti which i thought was impossible to mess up. i was proven wrong. the music was so loud and obnoxious we had to ask for new seats which resulted in more waiting. the seats were uncomfortable and the ambience was way below par. don't waste even a minute of your life coming here let alone 3 hours. read more

Annie's Place is a typical Puerto Rican beach front patio seating restaurant with local cuisine. It boasts a beautiful view and would be a great spot to watch the sunset. We stopped in to have some small bites so I didn't try the main dishes. Don't be fooled by the prices (you'd think you'd get like 5 cheese balls) because when our 4 apps were brought out they had large portions. I was getting about 14 cheese balls. We wanted some ham croquettes but they were out of them so we were offered cordon bleu bites, which never made it out to the table, but magically appeared on the bill. Service was mediocre and that's why I gave this spot 3 instead of 4 stars. I think they could do a better job. However, I would still stop by here and recommend this restaurant because the small bites we got were delicious! read more

I'm only giving this a one star review due the ill-mannered owner/manager or boss lady. I could have anticipated this if I had seen some of the online reviews before coming here. The place has a beautiful view and decent traditional Puerto Rican food right as you arrive to the Combate beach. This was the second time my fiance and I were visiting PR together and we were excited to come try this restaurant because it sits right on the beach. Don't expect the food to come out in a timely manner, waiters seem uncomfortable and owner/manager or boss lady can be a bit loud with waiters. It was an extremely long drive to get there and trust me as we found out later you can find many more restaurants also on the beach with memorable experiences at the downtown Boqueron beach (poblado) boardwalk. We arrived 10 minutes prior to Annies Place opening, and parked at the restaurants. The restaurant has a lot of open space to sit so I was able to see one of the waiters and asked how soon would they be opening. He replied "very soon" and with excitement I made him aware that we would wait for them to open. We waited outside the entrance for the restaurant to open and who we assumed later on to be the owner/manager or boss lady drove around the curve to yell at us that if we parked there (meaning restaurant) she would have our car towed. She must have assumed that we were using the parking space to go to the beach. I took it lightly and forgave her rudeness at that moment because from the looks of it they don't have much parking to spare (approx. 4 compact spaces in front of building) and I'm sure people take advantage of the great location however I made her aware that we were waiting for her restaurant to open and that's the only reason we were parked there. Mind you, she parks there as well instead of leaving that space for a potential customer. She immediately asked the waiter why we were there and I'm pretty sure he responded with the same information we provided her. She then made a call and had another older gentlemen come and stalk and harass us by taking pictures of our rental vehicle and watching us closely beside our car until he confirmed we entered the restaurant. It was a ridiculous dramatization as if he was an agent with a notepad and camera and as she was filing a report. We followed through in eating there because we had already made a long drive to get there. What an AWFUL and embarrassing experience for tourist especially when PR is in such a condition that needs the profitable support of tourism. This is not the PR I know! read more

Awful experience here. I'm giving it 2 stars for its scenic location. We arrived there hungry and excited. The hostess sat us down in a nice spot, in the corner overlooking the ocean, great view. The waitress can by rather quickly and took our drink order, a Mojito and a couple of water bottles. Upon getting our drinks, about 20 long minutes, we ordered a sortido( a mix of fried finger foods) usually amazing to eat, except at this location, some fried calamari , chicken wings and fries. This is were it starts to go down hill. While waiting for our food, we were bombarded with flies, they were swarming from everywhere, not an exaggeration. This battle continued until we left the restaurant. Our waitress was missing in action the whole time. After about 20 min another waitress brought out some fries, we got excited thinking the rest of the food was coming as well, which it did not. Another 20 minutes go by and still nothing, the fly battle still continues, eventually we get our sortido and fried calamari. The calamari was nasty, like thick over cooked rubbery onion rings, not good at all. The sortido had cheese balls that were over fried to the point were the cheese was missing (is it still a cheese ball). We ended up eating about half of our sortido. At this point we were about an hour into this meal and no waitress to ask if we needed anything. I eventually went to the counter and asked the waiter for a few more water bottles and if he can check on the wings we ordered an hour ago were ready. He then quickly brought our water bottles and the room temperature order of chicken wings. Overall this experience was terrible for us. Great location, swarming flys, subpar food and horrible service, you decide. read more

Worst place ever!!!! After spending $80 on average food and that's being nice. They wouldn't even let us use the restroom!! Avoid this place at all cost!!!! Food sucks the owners are horrible!!!! So we were nervous to stop here on our way home from the beach because none of us are big on seafood. But I am so glad we did because the food was amazing!! First off, the view is beautiful..overlooking the beach. We even got to see huge fish in the water when it got dark. Our table got fajitas (chicken/pollo) and mofongo con cerdo/pork. I had the churrasco steak con chimichurri and tostones. Mine was soooo delicious. Best I've had in PR so far. Our food was so good that I took the time to write this review. I wanted a Miami Vice and they didn't know what that was so I explained it and they made it for me. Atmosphere is fun, started to get crowded as we left at nighttime. Don't hesitate on this one. GO! Annie's Place saved our vacation. El Combate is more of a weekend destination and many restaurants are closed during the weekdays. Annie's is open 7 days a week. It's crazy busy on weekends and chill on weekdays. Also their food is great. I recommend the stuffed mofongo, whole fried snapper, fish fillet (I had criollo sauce and garlic cream sauce and both were good), and the empanadas. read more

We had two problems in our visit. We ordered some "pastelillos" to go, and the wait was extremely long. When we received the food some items were missing. The other problem is insect bites. This problem is at night. If you go during the night I would recommend to use insect repellent. It gets pretty nasty. About the food we ordered, it was OK. But not worth the trouble. read more

HELLO? I AM DYING OF THIRST! I stopped in yesterday and while I always know what kind of service to expect in Puerto Rico, the service here was truly abysmal. I happened upon Annie's just poking around the area. It was perhaps around 2 PM or so and it wasn't even half capacity. I sat at the bar and I am pretty sure that there weren't more then 4 or 5 other people sitting at the bar the entire time I was there. Well, the long and the short of it is that I was neither greeted nor acknowledged when I sat down even thought the bartenders were practically in front of me. I had to wave my hands to ask for a shot and a beer. All in all, it was next to impossible to get anyone's attention without standing up and doing a fire breathing routing. We ordered CHEESEBURGERS. CHEESEBURGERS for Christ's sake. It took more than 40 minutes to get a cheeseburger which was overcooked, rock hard and sitting on a bed of warmish shoe string French fries. My advise is this - while the view may be excellent, if you're going to the beach in that area, pack your own food and drinks as if you have to wait for the staff to acknowledge you, you could very likely die of thirst. P.S. to the owner - you probably could make a lot more money if you staff were a bit less oblivious to patrons who would like to drink! read more

I loved Annie's Place. I went there with friends who are Puerto Rico natives. We went there twice, during our visit to the island. The food was great. We had several different flavors of empanadillas, asopao, conch, a sampler platter, which was outstanding, and some breaded grouper bites. The drinks were flavorful and well priced. We went there once at night, and once during the day. The daytime view is beautiful. Annie's is located directly on the water, with a beautiful beach steps away. It was a very busy weekend, when we were there. The service can be a little slow, but they are very friendly, and there is a great view. Annie's has more of a local feel and not a tourist feel, not to say it isn't tourist friendly, because it is. I am saying that by the time we left, the first night, I felt very at home there. The next day, I was greeted with a sense of familiarity by the staff. We had the same great quality both days. I can not wait for my next visit to Puerto Rico and to Annie's Place! read more
