Everything they did was great. Red did custom drapes from previous house and used old drapes to make lining of comforter

Fourth Ward, Downtown

If I could give this company and its employees 6 stars, I absolutely would…read more **Pictures to come** Backstory: I needed window coverings for a new construction town home in West Houston. My townhome contains between 20 and 25 windows. I wasn't sure what type of window coverings I wanted due to questions about purpose (heat resistance/aesthetics/etc) and cost. Scheduling: I requested a quote using Yelp on a Saturday. Within 30 minutes, I had a reply informing me that my request had been received and John would give me a call shortly to schedule a time to see the house and discuss my options. John called, set up the appointment, and arrived 5-10 minutes before the scheduled time. I'm a big fan of punctuality. Our checklist: We knew we wanted shutters, but budget was a concern. John explained the cost in a very transparent manner. No hidden fees, surcharges, etc. I also wanted one of the rooms to be as dark as possible as it was primarily going to be used for watching sports and I didn't want glare. John took the time to explain his different offerings to achieve that goal. I ended up with cellular shades which perform wonderfully. All said and done, we ended up with shutters on one flood, cellular shades and roller shades on another, and wood blinds in the bedrooms. Also, there were a ton of options to customize color, shutter trim, valance options, roller fabric, and many more. Installation: All of the window coverings were installed with the care you'd expect someone to use in their own home. John was very flexible with the appointment scheduling. There were 2 different appointments, one for the shutters and one for the rest of the coverings. His installation job was quick and efficient without being hasty. Overall: All said and done my wife and I were happy with the customer service (that actually played a huge part in our choice to go with this company because of some previous bad experiences), the scheduling, the installation, and, of course, the cost. I would recommend Blinds and Shutters to anyone whether you know exactly what you want or you have no idea (like us).

If you planning to buy shutters or blinds from Home depot, don't be surprised if you are contacted…read moreby Rockwood Shutters. Home depot works with this Houston based company. I recently got the shutters installed from Home depot. I would give five stars to Rockwood Shutters for their professionalism. Their designers and installers are very informative and patiently answer to all the queries. There was mistake during the measurements, and the shutter frame was cut small. The installer ensured it was reordered and installed back in a week time. The Rockwood staff promptly followed it up. A special thanks to the designer Sarah Bettin and installer Herb. As far as pricing is concerned Home depot gave a very competitive quote. It was better than Costco. Home depot does have a financing available for shutter projects. You can always put them on 24 month interest free finance on a home depot credit card. I would say you wont be disappointed if you are considering home depot for custom shutter installations.

I would strongly recommend AVOIDING Rockwood Shutters and Home Depot for window treatments…read more I spent over $8,600 on window treatments through Home Depot, with Rockwood responsible for installation. What followed was more than six months of installation failures, damage, missed appointments, and repeated promises to fix problems that were never actually resolved. One treatment fell from the wall the morning after installation and damaged my wall. A second later fell from another wall. A Rockwood installer told me the original screws were too short and caused it to pull out of the wall. I have no assurance that the remaining treatments were actually installed properly. Three other treatments had to be removed and replaced, leaving approximately 12 holes/damaged areas around my windows. Rockwood promised in writing to repair the drywall. They never did. They promised to check the remaining treatments to make sure they were securely installed. I never received confirmation that happened. They approved compensation for the damage. I never received it. Then one of the newly replaced treatments failed within about a week and had to be reordered. Another corrective appointment was scheduled--and Rockwood didn't show up. Throughout this process, I kept giving Rockwood opportunities because I kept being told the problems would be corrected. They weren't. Eventually I had two replacement treatments sitting uninstalled in boxes, unrepaired wall damage, and no confidence in the installation. After months of this, I was no longer willing to let Rockwood continue working in my home. This wasn't one mistake. It was a pattern: something would go wrong, I would be promised it would be fixed, and then it either wasn't fixed or another problem followed. Eventually I had to pay someone else to finish and repair an $8,600 project. I would never hire Rockwood Shutters again. UPDATE: After MONTHS of allowing Rockwood to try to fix things and them making it worse every time, I hired a handyman to repair my walls and hang the treatments that have been sitting in my basement. We opened the boxes- they sent the wrong replacement. They have literally messed up at EVERY step. I have emailed asking for the correct treatment to be sent. I will update if they actually do the right thing. Rockwood's response below leaves out important context. I declined to allow them back only after more than six months of repeated corrective attempts and failures. They had 5 appointments in my home - how many times do you let them come back when all they do is make a bigger mess every time? During that time, two treatments fell from my walls, multiple treatments had to be replaced, one replacement failed within about a week, promised wall repairs were not completed, promised compensation was not provided, and Rockwood missed a scheduled corrective appointment. I gave them numerous opportunities to make this right before I finally lost confidence in allowing the same company to continue working in my home. I asked Home Depot, who hired Rockwood for the job, to offer an alternative that was NOT ROCKWOOD.
