I came here for an outdoor performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night by Dark Horse Theatre. I had…read morea good experience. Patrons were physically distanced outdoors for the performance. It was clear that the venue cared about patrons' health and safety. I would have preferred a better sound system to hear the performance, but I'm not sure whether that has to do with the venue. In any case, I didn't get to see the inside of ArtSpace, but I would be curious to learn more. I hope they continue holding outdoor performances this summer.

Pops is currently showing here along with his fellow artists from Building 10 at the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center, so husband, Moms and I went to the wine and cheese reception they held to kick off the show. Curators and employees are friendly and knowledgeable, and the caliber of artist is exceptional (no bias here, really). All the pieces on show are for sale, and the gallery also has a little gift area selling smaller pieces like stationery, jewelry, and pottery. Husband and I picked up a miniature ceramic vase for a steal. ArtSpace is a bit isolated and remotely located near "Old Town" Herndon, but it's worth seeking out.

Trisha is a pleasure to talk and helpful when making an art selection or commissioning a custom painting. It's a small space with refreshing light and comfortable seating while you enjoy looking at the artwork. I've bought a couple of her paintings and love them more every time I see them. (Fair warning - they do sell fast. Someone else bought one of the paintings I liked before I decided on it so I didn't delay on the next one.) She works on the paintings right there in the studio so you can see what's about to be ready. The gallery is in the Herndon historic district right next to the bike path. The three of us joined three others on a Saturday morning for a class using the pottery wheel. Rezgar Mamandi was our teacher- he was patient, kind and I learned so much! He has a wonderful rhythm to his teaching that allows all to find success - he demonstrates each step while thoroughly explaining, gives you time to try it while supervising and supporting, then allowing all to try and answering any and all question. out pieces were fired and we came back a few weeks later to paint our pieces. I picked them up today and I just feel so proud of the three pieces I made...and I can't wait to take more classes!

Seating was rather limited, so I would go early or reserve a spot (which I believe you can do). There is a variety of colors to choose from and have samples to know how the paint will look when fired. Some people have already mentioned it, but I highly recommend doing multiple layers. Our mugs ended up streaky in some spots. The paint dries fairly quickly, so it wasn't too bad applying layers. There were a lot of pottery pieces to choose from. I wish there were more like basic pieces though to have a more blank canvas. The prices were reasonable for each piece! The prices were written on the bottom. The firing process took about a week. My boyfriend and I have been using our mugs almost every day and they have held up well! Paint on mine did chip on the side, but my boyfriend's mug has been completely fine.
