Let me preface this review by saying that the dentist himself and all the receptionist staff were…read morevery nice. If it wasn't for them, this would be a 1 star review due how rude and condescending the hygienist - Jody was. This was my first time at Bridgeport family dental and I just needed to get a cleaning since my insurance allows for two a year and I'd only had one so far. I usually go to the west loop but I found these guys had great reviews and were much closer to me. Let me get right to the point, my dental hygienist was extremely rude and condescending the entire 45 minute visit. Her tone of voice and the way she would talk were just unbelievable. Let me give you an example. One time while she was cleaning I let her know it was hurting and was a little rough. Some background: I have no problem with the dentist and don't have any nerves. I don't ever get uncomfortable or really feel any pain during a normal cleaning so this in itself was unusual. Jody's response was - "Oh so you DON'T want me to get the tartar out" in an extremely rude tone! Is that seriously how they talk to a patient here? This was just one of many examples. When the dentist came in, I was ready to let him know my experience but Jody was still hovering behind so I decided to write this review instead. I've never been treated like this at a dentist office and I really expected better from a place with so many 5 star reviews. Jody needs some serious training. Suffice to say I'll be going back to my normal dentist after this.

Now,I have to go through extensive dental work which will cost thousands of dollars. I found his behavior to be deplorable and unethical. Not to mention he had an attitude. Make sure you get everything in writing. When I was a patient at Advent Dental woman who answered the phone would not give him my messages. I did talk to him about her, but the behavior didn't change much. I had begun to think that maybe she just didn't like people of my ethnicity. I have called the office trying to get dates of service nobody calls back. This is been a horrible experience. If only I had known I would have never, ever, ever, gone there. I see all this to say, yourself. Make sure you get everything in writing. Ask how long is this denture or whatever supposed to last and if it doesn't what will you do to help me? Get that in writing.

The front staff are all very courteous, Connie is so sweet and great with insurance/pricing questions! My hygienist, Alyssa, was very thorough and careful (I usually hate cleanings, they can be painful when you have sensitive gums), and doctor Shawn Lin is very meticulous with his work and kind. We have had fillings, crowns, cleanings and nightguards made here. I highly recommend Dr Shawn Lin for any dental work.

This left me with a $75 charge, when i called Dr. Merbaum's office to get a refund, I was told that I would most likely not get a refund because all their x-rays looked the same. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't even able to make it into the office before the negative experience began. The receptionist at this office condescendingly talks to you as if she's doing you a favor by letting you grace the good doctor's scheduling book. Now why would you want to do that to potential patients? Being later in the day, I chucked the initial call over to her just having a bad day. Fast forward to a week prior to the appointment when I find out I've a last minute business trip out of town and call to reschedule. The same lady answers and proceeds to argue with me as to which week we're scheduled for. Even knowing that I wrote down the date as I made the appointment and definitely didn't make a mistake, I apologized and asked to reschedule. She proceeded to snap "Why don't YOU call us when YOU figure out when you can definitely come instead of me having to constantly call you?" 3 letters, W-T-F. To my knowledge, this was the 2nd conversation we've ever had and out of the 2, she only called me once. I didn't realize making appointments for new patients were such an inconvenience for this receptionist. Hey lady, get off the Kool-Aid, remove that 10ft pole up your rear, and check that crappy attitude of yours at the door. Here's when I can come in - does NEVER work out for you? I don't have to put up with your condescending attitude. **Update** Shortly after I wrote this review, I received a call from the Arnstein office asking to confirm this Friday's appointment (I WAS RIGHT so you can shove it Ms. Bitchy Receptionist).

Dentists are not my thing. I had a bad experience around age 8 when a dentist slapped me because I…read morescreamed out in pain. So, when I got dental insurance I picked Dr. Arnstein. Not knowing anything about him and yet hoping he would take care of me. Dr. Arnstein did my first cleaning and told me I had great teeth! (Yeay since I haven't seen a dentist for over 2 years). I also had a root canal that had not been filled and instead of recommending an expensive crown as another dentist had, he said that it could be done with a filling! Another YEAY! My anxiety to have the filling done was mounting....I had to reschedule the appointment. The receptionist who is a complete sweetheart, got me in on a cancellation 2 days later. Love her. Had the filling done and it is amazing. It feels like I have full use of my mouth again. Dr. Arnstein seems to know everything about teeth. A plus when he is poking around in your mouth with sharp objects. The way he handled my filling was nothing short of spectacular. He was so quick and it wasn't totally painless but the tooth was in really bad shape. But, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. With no real pain the next day....I was pretty shocked because I thought I was going to be out the whole weekend.(My appointment was on a friday) If you have a choice with insurance or just want to go to a cool dentist who leaves you pain free, Dr. Arnstein is the guy. He and his staff made me feel like I was part of a family. Honestly, I hope I don't have any more dental issues soon but I know if I do they will take really good care of me.
