I am in the market for a new dentist and figured I'd give this office a shot based on my friend's recommendation. I'm sorry to say that I wasn't even able to make it into the office before the negative experience began. The receptionist at this office condescendingly talks to you as if she's doing you a favor by letting you grace the good doctor's scheduling book. Now why would you want to do that to potential patients? Being later in the day, I chucked the initial call over to her just having a bad day. Fast forward to a week prior to the appointment when I find out I've a last minute business trip out of town and call to reschedule. The same lady answers and proceeds to argue with me as to which week we're scheduled for. Even knowing that I wrote down the date as I made the appointment and definitely didn't make a mistake, I apologized and asked to reschedule. She proceeded to snap "Why don't YOU call us when YOU figure out when you can definitely come instead of me having to constantly call you?" 3 letters, W-T-F. To my knowledge, this was the 2nd conversation we've ever had and out of the 2, she only called me once. I didn't realize making appointments for new patients were such an inconvenience for this receptionist. Hey lady, get off the Kool-Aid, remove that 10ft pole up your rear, and check that crappy attitude of yours at the door. Here's when I can come in - does NEVER work out for you? Dentists are not my thing. I had a bad experience around age 8 when a dentist slapped me because I screamed out in pain. So, when I got dental insurance I picked Dr. Arnstein. Not knowing anything about him and yet hoping he would take care of me. Dr. Arnstein did my first cleaning and told me I had great teeth! (Yeay since I haven't seen a dentist for over 2 years). I also had a root canal that had not been filled and instead of recommending an expensive crown as another dentist had, he said that it could be done with a filling! Another YEAY! My anxiety to have the filling done was mounting....I had to reschedule the appointment. The receptionist who is a complete sweetheart, got me in on a cancellation 2 days later. Love her. Had the filling done and it is amazing. It feels like I have full use of my mouth again. Dr. Arnstein seems to know everything about teeth. A plus when he is poking around in your mouth with sharp objects. The way he handled my filling was nothing short of spectacular. He was so quick and it wasn't totally painless but the tooth was in really bad shape. But, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. With no real pain the next day....I was pretty shocked because I thought I was going to be out the whole weekend.(My appointment was on a friday) If you have a choice with insurance or just want to go to a cool dentist who leaves you pain free, Dr. Arnstein is the guy. He and his staff made me feel like I was part of a family. Honestly, I hope I don't have any more dental issues soon but I know if I do they will take really good care of me. read more

I got my teeth cleaned and a filling redone, and the service was spectacular! Dr. Arnstein is hip and talkative, but not in that annoying kind of way! The receptionist (an older lady) was such a sweetheart! I got some kind of discount, and I'm not quite sure for what, but hurray! Lots of exclamation marks in a review = 5 stars! read more

I'm sorry that the above person had a bad experience, but I feel it's important for me to speak up and say that I had a very opposite experience. I went to get my teeth cleaned here yesterday, I thought the receptionist was perfectly nice (I see it's been like 7 months since the review, maybe someone different?), the doctor did the cleaning quickly and gently, and only charged me $40 because he said my teeth were pretty clean and he couldn't justify charging me full price. read more

What i found reassuring about Dr. Arnstein and his practice is the equity with which he approaches each case. Dr. Arnstein will unequivocally assess your necessities, and will neither pressure nor compel you to get started with procedures that may not be warranted - in fact he encourages to solicit a second opinion and provides you with cost-effective referrals. Dr. Arnstein explains the options you have with clarity, he does does not rush his work, and his general amicable approach to patients is a respite from what I have encountered in the past. The staff is always friendly - in-person and over-the-phone. They do their best to accommodate your scheduling needs and are vigilant enough to alert you of any cancellations, so that you may come in earlier. I have no reservations in fully recommending Dr. Arnstein to anyone in need of dental work - I have NEVER left his office dissatisfied, and plan on continuing my dental care with him in the future. read more

I've been going to this dentist and his father for at least 25 years and never had a problem. In fact, I have an appointment tomorrow. Both the reception staff and the dentist are very friendly. He takes all kinds of insurance and won't cheat you if you lack coverage. He's on the 2nd floor of a medical building with an elevator and a parking lot. The other professionals in the building are great also, especially the psychologist. read more

I called for an appointment and as a few other reviewers have posted, got bad attitude from the receptionist. That is not a way to make a first impression. I informed them no thank you, I will find a different dentist. Dr. Arnstein may be great for all I know, but who wants to deal with a receptionist who acts like you're inconveniencing her by asking her for an appointment? read more

I had a minor dental emergency, and the awesome receptionist was able to fit me in right away. Dr. Arnstein is great, and I was in and out in 40 minutes. Due to an insurance snafu, my coverage doesn't kick in until next month, but the cost to fix my tooth was extremely reasonable. Greatest dentist/dentist office OF ALL TIME. I'm actually looking forward to going back for a cleaning and check-up! read more

**Amendment to my previous review** As a result of my previous 2 star review, Dr. Arnstein called me personally to discuss my dissatisfaction and offer me a re-do cleaning for which I took him up. If you do not enjoy being belittled because you have not been able to afford Dental insurance in the past, or you have any form of dental issues that you're embarrassed of and looking to improve on, keep looking. This facility will have you looking for the first rock to crawl under feeling two inches tall. People who have Dental problems have enough issues with self esteem and are very aware, if not scared to open their mouths in public, or smile etc. When you finally have the means of getting dental work done, Dr. Arnstein has the bed side manners of a rabid dog. Years ago I suffered trauma to my teeth and jaw. The hospital had the most severely damaged teeth extracted, but warned me I would continue to have problems in the future if I don't have a multitude of expensive dental procedures done asap. I had multiple hair line fractures in many other teeth, that would eventually start to deteriorate and break apart, it was explained that because I had certain teeth extracted after the trauma, others would also start to shift and cause problems. To add to my future dental problems, I was told I had a severe underbite, as well as grinding my teeth in my sleep. Unfortunately I, like most middle class workers did not have dental insurance, or a trust fund to dip into when these future problems arose. I did the best that I could to delay this nightmare by cutting out sugar, brushing twice a day, and even bought a sonic toothbrush. I visited this facility today, and tried to explain to the secretary/assistant that I was very sensitive about the issue and have even avoided smiling for the past two years. I may as well have explained that to the lamp, as I received the same response. Then comes Dr. Arnstein. I attempted to tell him the same thing I told his assistant, and was rushed through my feelings and my mouth was opened in the fashion of a veterinarian. Immediately the berating began from there. My appointment was to have two teeth pulled that were fractured and pressing against one another. In fact, one tooth was shifted completely sideways, and the pressure felt as if I had a credit card pounded between them. Immediately I was told all my problems were due to nothing more than lack of hygiene on my part and decay. I tried to explain my previous issues and diagnosis's, I was rudely cut off every time and told it was all due to decay. I tried to explain multiple times how much I brush and avoid sugar. He just kept cutting me off again and again in an agitated tone, and told me this could only be due to not brushing. I asked if the one tooth shifted sideways because I allegedly was not brushing. He became agitated and started tapping other problematic teeth and repeating, "Decay! Decay!" I said I understand there are other problematic teeth, but this is precisely the problem, "I can only afford to fix the two that are causing me this unbearable pain." Once again I was accused of poor hygiene; oddly as I was well dressed and have always been known to be a well dressed and cleanly cut gentleman. By this time I had been interrupted, ignored, and belittled enough to rip off my bib and tell him to look into bedside manner and walked out without any work done to a single tooth. I had been ignorantly roasted in a chair for as long as my dignity allowed. Thank anyone for reading this far into my review. I promise on my own health this is not a rant, it's a precautionary tale for others to avoid embarrassment and frustration. And to sum up his repeated claims of "DECAY!", if you take two fresh red apples and crack one in half; what apple do you think will decay first as well as accelerated??? read more

I have had horrible experiences with this whole practice . They give you a time to show up but the dentist is to busy being a jerk talking to other people crazy he never keeps track of his time. I complained to him for weeks about nerve pain in my tooth and he gave me this stupid excuesd that may be because my top tooth needed a filling it was causing the bottom to hurt.....with him being the "Expert" i went along. Safe to say that wasnt the problem so i make another appointment they set it 2 weeks out so im in horrible pain for that long until July 5 . so i go back to get this tooth pulled and he tells me he sees nothing wrong with the tooth like he can feel the pain im in. So he put something cold on my tooth and i almost kick the stand over because it was painful. So he proceed to numb my gums ,he leaves for 20 min comes back in and just starts to pull to the point where i feel like he is about to break my lower jaw . i yell for him to stop , he gives me this long speeach about how my jaw works as a fulcrum my response is i know but my jaw can only go so far before it breaks so he starts again even harder not 30 seconds in i feel the same horrible pain . i ask he what else can he do he looks at me likr nothing then i get to the front desk he says i need to be put to sleep to have the tooth out buth the follows up by saying i didnt let him try and split the tooth in half i look at him like "f" off . But now my tooth is in even more pain because he was pulling so hard it loosend the tooth to where im getting these headachs and my gums are very red and swollen. I called back today to a very rude receptionist who puts me on hold or so she thinks she talks the this very rude dentist who says he will not work on my tooth she picks back up and says he wont do it then hangs up. I advise anyone if you want good service please dont go hear i was warned by a older lady in the waiting room to leave this guy alone she only came to him because hes the only dentist thar does a porslin dentures. Dr. Arnstein is an excellent dentist, great service all around from everyone in his office. Have been seeing him for many years, grew up in Bridgeport with Dr. Arnstein as my dentist, have since moved to the north side but still return to his office. Could not ask for more. read more

Great friendly reception. Love Dr. Arnstein, he has a great personality! Been to see him at least a dozen times. Great truly efficient service. Always willing to fit me in a last minute emergency. Coworkers always in disbelief how pleasant my visits always are. read more
