Prices are very fair for both tokens and merchandise; they're definitely comparable to or slightly cheaper than bigger stores. They also have a trade section for blind buys and a fun game to try for more prizes if you turn in your empty capsules! Plenty of parking in their shared public lot. My older daughter was having trouble deciding so my three year old son kept tossing around a dog he had decided on. While doing that he dropped it a few times on the floor, where a worker brought that to my attention, understandable, so I placed it in my basket. Finally we had all decided on a jelly cat and my son changed his option to another one I took a look at the dog and he was still in great condition so I put it back. When we were about to pay the cashier bluntly expressed if we would purchasing the dog since my son a dropped it. It wasn't the situation that frustrated me and it was the way I was approached about it. You know what I bought them all because I didn't want to ruin my children's experience that I had hoped would be different. She then tried to be nice about the situation but honestly my husband and me felt uncomfortable. We witnessed another child tossing and licking other stuff animals and left without buying anything, yet here we were buying 3 jelly cats and then almost forced to buy a fourth getting rude customer service. TL;DR: The win rate on the machines seems to have gone down significantly, and more than half of…read morethe machines now seem to offer items in blind bags, which are close to impossible for claws or kids to grab compared to plushies and other items. The value-to-experience ratio just isn't what it used to be. We've come to Top Canvas multiple times before and always had a great experience. We've even recommended it to friends. They still have a really wide variety of machines, but unfortunately, the experience and service seem to have gone downhill. In the past, the workers were incredibly attentive and would help our daughter and her friends rearrange items to make them easier to grab. They weren't just giving things away for free, but they made sure the kids had a reasonable chance of actually winning something. The win rate on the machines was also relatively high, and the prizes were generally easy enough for kids to grab. It was a great, albeit slightly expensive, value. Our most recent visit was very different. The machines had a close-to-zero win rate, and even when a worker rearranged a couple of items for us, they basically just tossed them around in the container and walked away. They didn't actually make them any easier for a small child to grab. We left with one small item, and while we completely understand that winning isn't guaranteed (that's the nature of these games) that's not really what made Top Canvas great in the past. What made it stand out was that it felt accessible and fun for young kids. Unfortunately, that no longer seems to be the case.

Give yourself a good amount of time to check out all that you can. Go through the store twice, because chances are, you will miss something the first time around. I love all the fun Miffy and Monchhichi items available. And there are other popular characters like the Peanuts gang, Moomin, and the newest edition Zilly Tales created by Zillymonkey. The store is pretty well-stocked...until it sells out - worst feeling ever! Pricing is subjective. Black Friday prices were pretty cool. Anyway, you can order online too and pick up in-store. Unfortunately, our most recent experience was really disappointing. We purchased several items, including three gifts for the same child, and simply asked if they could be gift wrapped together. Instead of just wrapping the gifts or politely explaining the policy, the employee repeatedly insisted that they charge for gift wrapping on items under $10, even though the three gifts we wanted wrapped together totaled well over $50. In total, we spent close to $200 during our visit. The interaction quickly became argumentative and unnecessarily uncomfortable. The owner was present and ultimately wrapped the gifts herself, but rather than helping de-escalate the situation, she allowed the interaction to continue in an unprofessional manner. To make matters worse, when we got home, we realized we'd been charged twice for one of our purchases. I called to have the extra charge reversed, and while they corrected the mistake, I also shared how disappointed I was with our experience in the store. Instead of receiving a sincere apology, I was met with what felt like a dismissive, backhanded response. Mistakes happen, but it's how they're handled that leaves a lasting impression. We genuinely want to continue supporting local businesses like this one, even if it means paying more than shopping at a big-box store. Unfortunately, after this experience, it's hard to justify returning. I hope this feedback encourages the owners to prioritize customer service, because that's ultimately what keeps loyal customers coming back. *also to add at the end of all of this I realized I had forgotten to get a birthday card so I wanted to grab one after checking out with all of our items and they wouldn't accept card or Apple Pay for a $6 birthday card. I needed to purchase something else to make it a $10 purchase or cash only (who carries or accepts cash anymore?) Like in what world!? Of course they wouldn't make an exception. The icing on the cake of a bad experience! This response is back to the owner- Thank you for taking the time to respond. I understand that small businesses need policies, and my review was never about expecting special treatment or criticizing those policies. My disappointment was with how the situation was handled. At no point was it explained that the $10 minimum applied to each individual item rather than the gifts being wrapped together. That had never been our understanding from previous visits, so the interaction was confusing and quickly became argumentative instead of simply being explained. One of the reasons we've continued to shop at your store, despite paying more than we would elsewhere, is the convenience and service, including gift wrapping. When purchasing multiple gifts for the same child, wrapping only some of them defeats much of that convenience. While you mention they were wrapped as a courtesy, that only happened after an uncomfortable exchange, which is the part that left a lasting impression. I appreciate your apology for the duplicate charge, but when I called, I was hoping for acknowledgment of the overall experience, not just the billing error. He threw my figures down on the counter and told me it wasn't his fault I wanted to "get rid of this shit." He then told me to leave. When I pointed out that throwing my belongings on the counter was rude, he started screaming at me, aggressively saying I shouldn't call him rude in his own store, and demanded I get out. He kept screaming and insulting me and wouldn't even give me a chance to gather my things and leave. I will never come back here, and I would not recommend this store to anyone. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had at a collectibles shop.
