If this store didn't have cute squishmallows I would not shop here. Both cashiers have stuck up attitude. I get it, people have questions and you're busy talking about your personal life with your friend but that's literally your job is to help people. I remember Animation Magic being somewhere I looked forward to going as a kid (the Ala Moana location), but now as an adult, I can honestly say that this location bothers me. I like Squishmallows, but the Squishmallows are priced at an extremely unreasonable price. Furthermore, the staff doesn't seem to help anyone that is in the store. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's because they're the only store in the area that sells what they sell, but honestly... I don't mind going all over the island just to avoid this place. read more

Customer service in the mall is by far the worst prices are way to high for Hawaii and if you ask them if they have a item in stock they'll automatically assume they don't have it and won't even bother looking then bring it out 10-30 minutes later for another customer read more

If it was my choice, I'd give this place zero stars. The one sales clerk never made eye contact or greeted me, even till the end. She passed me a couple of times. The store is a mess with items on the ground. I was at the counter waiting for several minutes to be helped or even acknowledged...never happened! She was a couple of feet from me helping another customer, but she could have acknowledged me or let me know she'll be right with me, but it never happened. I saw an opening, so I said "Excuse me, may I take a look at that bag please"(which was a few feet from her and me), she said "After this!" There was no smile or sweet explanation or apology for not getting to me...NOTHING! WOW, what terrible customer service! Not personable and no aloha here. Therefore, I walked out I was actually going to buy that bag and another one in a locked case. They just lost a paying customer. Whoever was working there tonight was rude. She didn't greet us and when we asked for help, she responded by saying "what do you want" in a hella rude voice. Cute stuff for kids. Great place to find gifts. I'm thinking people shop here for all the nice merchandise, not the customer service. Last week I bought a total of 7 things as Christmas gifts. I just looked in the bag today to start my Christmas wrapping. I know, I know... one week later. I should've checked my bag earlier. That's my lesson. I noticed one product was missing (an 8" squishmallow). I figured I tell my story to Animation Magic and be honest. I understand from their perspective that it looks suspicious and I'm sure they've had their share of stolen merchandise. But I lost out on $15 so I needed to tell my story and hopefully they'd understand. As a disclaimer, I did look all around my house to see if it could've been dropped or misplaced. Anyway, worker did not apologize. I guess I shouldn't have expected one with my previous experiences of poor customer service. I did get the squishmallow (not the same one). Then she told me if I do happen to find the original to come and return it. I just looked at her in awe. But, if you'd been there before, their register area is very disorganized, tons of toys all over the place. So you can probably also see how it could've easily not been bagged. Anyway, my daughter loves that place but I told her we can find another store to find products like that. So in conclusion, if you don't mind poor customer service and a messy counter (the rest of the store is displayed well), then Animation Magic is a place for you and your kids to find cute toys and merchandise. Not once was I ever greeted or asked if I needed help with anything, 2 young girls were too busy trying to figure out what they were going to order to eat on the computer; couldn't decide if they wanted toast or hashbrowns, really? This store is overly stocked, cluttered, etc. A girl coming out of the backroom carrying a lot of stuff couldn't say excuse me so just bumps me and looks back as if she dropped something then keeps walking. When browsing thru Pearlridge shopping center with the kids, we stop by this place. Toys are a little more expensive than lets say ToysRus, but for specialty items like t-shirts and stuff, it's worth the price. My girls are both 4 years old and their backpacks are cheaper than Target or other places. They are really sturdy, come with handles and rolling wheels and lots of storage room, storage pockets, and water bottle holders. read more

WAS MISLEAD & POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. The manager, "Ashley" from the Pearlridge store would not make an exception to trade a duplicate Mystery Mini that my son bought today for my birthday (he bought a total of 3). I spoke to her in great detail about the incidents below. Went there yesterday, 2/18/17 bought 3 Mystery Unicorno's and was given the chance to do a trade (which I did) therefore my son went back today to buy 3 more with the same intention and was told it's against policy to trade. According to yesterday's staff as long as the figurine was within the same series and same value we could do an even trade. Today, 2/19/17 the assisting cashier had to call Ashley the "manager" whom said she had no authority to make the exception after I tried to negotiate this transaction. Per Ashely I would have to wait till owner Janis Mizuno comes back from a trip. Really? I also asked for her contact number was told she couldn't provide that to me. Yesterday's decision may have been an honest error that was against company "policy" however because of this error they should have considered making an exception today. I spent over $70 yesterday, $25 today and WAS a regular shopper here. It was a poor management decision that what wouldn't have caused any tangible lost. I could literally see the one I traded yesterday thru the front window however today we couldn't do the same for our new purchase. I am a firm believer of supporting local businesses however I will never come back here again and I will continue to share my story to others with intentions of not avoiding this experience happen to others. read more

It's really funny how people complain about not getting a hello or they asked if you needed help. Like, if you need help, then ask. Ask and he shall receive. Plus, don't lie and say you've always been greeted upon entering EVERY store you've been in. Just because you've had one bad experience you're gonna tell everyone. It is just so pleasant to be greeted in a very genuine manner when entering a store. I am always greeted by at least one of the staff warmly. Have found the staff to very helpful when in need of assistance finding a product or size. There is such a wide range of fun shirts themed around popular childrens favorite shows and movies. read more

If I had a choice is rather not give this store any stars. How difficult is it to greet your only customer that walks in to the store? Even as I stood over the register trying to take a peak of the frozen items. This location and the Ala Moana location need to learn to at least say hi to their customer and acknowledge that there even is a customer in their store. I've been to multiple location several times to look for frozen items for my daughter in the past couple of months, not once was I greeted, asked if I needed any help, or asked if I wanted to take a look at something, and mind you I was the only person in the store. The sales associates constituted to chit chat about what ever business they were chatting about before I walked in. After several attempts to make a purchase at both locations I've given up and will no longer be shopping at this store. I don't demand full attention but a simple hello would be nice! read more

Cute variety of things that always catches my boys eyes. But I was so bummed I bought two items and found out they were $8 cheaper each at Target. This store has no customer service at all! All the workers do is talk story and not assist anyone. They never greet . I don't know why we have to give any stars. I was Very disappointed in the customer service we received. Their were 2 sales people on the floor when we entered & not one of them greeted us which is fine until I needed help. I asked the sales girl Maya if I could see a backpack I couldn't reach & she seemed annoyed that I was bothering her, while I was looking at the backpack she just stood there looking at me to hurry up & make up my mind in the mean time my daughter asked her what was the difference with these 2 stuffed animals they looked exactly the same but were different prices again she seemed annoyed & had to check. She went to check & came back & said it was a mistake and should be the higher price I asked her if they would honor the lower price & she said No! I asked her to speak with the Manager his name is Ash & he said No as well because people like to change the price tags. At that point I felt very offended I felt like he was accusing me of changing price tags I told him look at your cameras & see if I did something like that! I think the way Ash handled the situation was very rude, they said they couldn't honor the lower price of $2.00 because they are a small business. I ended buying nothing from this store & never will. I went to ToysRus across the street and ended up paying $4.00 less for the same item. Maybe Animation Magic should spend some money & teach their staff Customer Service. It doesn't matter if your a small or big business treat your customers with respect! read more
