Ok this place is super cool. I can't believe I only found out about this venue recently!…read more To get to the theater, you go around the corner from the bar entrance and through this back alleyway door. It feels very covert, like you need to know a guy who knows a guy with a password to get in. You can also enter through the bar (I think). We initially went through the side door to get our tickets scanned in and then went in and out of the bar between acts to grab a drink. We weren't able to bring drinks into the actual theater, but not a huge deal. If anything, keeps the venue cleaner. There aren't any seats, just tiered standing platforms. Honestly, even with it being packed, I felt like we had a pretty good view of ~80% of the stage. The one thing I will say is that with everyone standing, you would think there'd be more movement/dancing. But alas, this is still Seattle and most people were bopping their heads to the music while I just wanted to swing around and feel it in my soul.

This theater is definitely full of character and history. it was built in 1917 and is in an obscure…read morelocation. There is available street parking however it can be tricky and limited due to the narrow streets. The theater shares an entrance with a jazz bar which provides a comfortable seating area to enjoy a drink while waiting for a show. We came to see the Rocky Horror Burlesque Pastie Show and was impressed at the capacity of this small theater. Beyond the hallway, patrons are immediately welcomed to second bar and a sea of padded chairs. The theater was packed with Rocky Horror Picture fans with some proudly wearing costumes of their favorite characters. The show started a little later than advertised however we were kept entertained during the slight delay. The seats were comfortable and we had an unobstructed view of the stage. This was our first time seeing a Rocky Horror Show in burlesque and we didn't know what to expect. Audience participation was encouraged and specific names (which I will not repeat) were yelled out when either Brad or Janet took the stage. Overall, a wonderful group adventure night full of sing-a-longs, heckling, and cocktails. Drink prices and show tickets were cheap compared to other venues.

This is my first time to the Georgetown Carnival (The event is free) I honestly I don't know if I…read morehave heard of it before or not since there always seems to be going on in Seattle each weekend. Especially with the warmer weather coming around. There is so many different kinds of things to see here! There is a section where there are all kinds of food trucks where you can get pretty much anything you want. If you desire something a bit more relaxing then you can also go in all of the eating establishments in the neighborhood that are open and ready to receive guests who want to sit and relax. After making it past the food trucks there are just all kinds of vendors selling pretty much anything you can think of as well. From crafts to shirts to jewelry and so much more! There are performers dressed up as clowns, fairies, drag queens and various other kinds of personas that people are totally prepared to be in character for. Throughout the day there are free concerts that take place too! There are events that happen all day but the events I saw was the power tool races where contestants assemble old power tools like saws and sanders into vehicles in which they drag race each other. While it appears that every racer is confident that their vehicle is dependable and fast when it comes down to it sometimes it just doesn't work out at all. Which is part of the quirky charm with this event. The races have very odd and hilarious homemade metal trophies to whoever is the best racer at the end as well as who qualifies in various categories. So much fun! There was also a clown side show where magic tricks were being performed as well as a fun house of sorts where many carnival antiques are housed along with clown masks, face painting and various other activities. Fun! I will definitely keep my eyes and ears open for when the carnival rolls around again next year because I would love to see more of those power tool races again!

Went last year and this year was not as much fun as last year. There were more interesting vendors…read moreand activities last year. This year was quieter and seemed smaller.

As far as I'm concerned, SIR is the ONLY backline vendor in the greater Seattle area. Dave has…read morefielded countless unreasonable requests from me over the years & has NEVER let me down. I was in a pinch. I was looking to rent a bass amp for a show, and my original place fell through…read moredue to their rehearsal studios losing two bass amps that week. So I looked around, and a friend of mine told me about SIR. I didn't know there was one in Seattle, as I was only familiar with their large Hollywood, CA location. I took a look on their website and saw what they had available. I really only needed a combo amp since the venue was small. So I called them, and the staff there was very friendly. I asked about a bass combo, which is something they don't get a lot of calls for...so all they had was an Ampeg BA-500, which is a pretty solid combo and would work for what I needed. It was a bit tough to find the place, as it is only a block East of Stone Way. I got there and talked to Dave and Andre, who found out that two hours after I called THAT amp went out too. So they took care of me and gave me a deal on a GK 800RB head and a 4x10 classic Ampeg cabinet. A bit more than what I had anticipated on hauling, but good thing my girlfriend has a good sized back seat in her car. The gear got me through, and the process was quick and painless. The show went off great...and my bass sounded amazing. The lack of selection of combos was what was teetering between a 4 and a 5, but their service pushed them over the top. They were friendly and they knew what they were doing. If you need a quick rental, I highly recommend SIR.

The second Saturday of every month Nota Bene offers a $5.00 tasting at their winery in South Park,…read moreyes you read right South Park. Who knew people were producing wine in South Park, I didn't until a few months ago. This past Saturday being the second Saturday of the month I decided to grab a friend and head down to South Park to taste their wines. It's in an industrial warehouse so don't expect a cute cozy tasting room but expect to taste next to the equipment and barrels which is always cool. For my $5.00 this past Saturday I was able to taste eight of their wines. I enjoyed three of them the other five were just OK but none made me go OMG this is good. The '05 Syrah, '04 Kestrel and '05 Conner Lee were my favorites that day, each of them different but with a big berry taste, I must have been in the mood for berries Saturday. As we all know everyone's palette is different so you may go and enjoy all eight. Tim the winemaker and Carol his wife were on site to answer any questions you had about their wines, Washington vineyards, or other wineries in the area. They've been making wine for distribution since 2001, prior to that they were what one would consider to be home wine makers. If it's a second Saturday and you're down in South Park check out Nota Bene cellars you might learn something new about wine. The one odd thing to me was before you could taste you had to fork over your $5.00, I know I have to pay but it was a little cold to be forced to pay before having a chance to pretty much look at the wines. Oh and if you decide to buy a bottle like most other vineyards your $5.00 tasting fee will go towards your purchase, I didn't buy anything here.
