I would not recommend this clinic. While their affordable pricing may be appealing, Murphy's Corner Animal Hospital truly reflects the saying "you get what you pay for." Our first experience was an annual visit for our two cats. We scheduled the appointment three months in advance due to their long waitlist, only to arrive and learn our appointment had been canceled. They have a policy of canceling appointments if you do not confirm a call made 48 hours prior -- however, we never received a call. Staff could not provide proof that a confirmation attempt was made and admitted the phone number may have been entered incorrectly. Despite an unhelpful front desk experience, the veterinarian was kind and apologetic, so we chose to overlook this initial issue. Two months later, one of our cats began experiencing urinary health problems. We contacted the clinic and did receive a same-day callback. Their recommendation for obtaining a urine sample, however, was to lock our cat in a room and wait for her to urinate on the floor so we could collect it. No alternative guidance or medical instruction was provided, and I ultimately had to research safer collection methods myself. The clinic processed the sample the same day and suggested a possible infection despite test results not clearly showing one. As a precaution, they prescribed antibiotics and a urinary supplement. The following night, our cat's condition worsened significantly -- multiple accidents, excessive drinking, and clear behavioral changes. We called the clinic about an hour before closing and received no response, which we initially understood given the timing. However, the clinic then ignored three additional calls over the next 48 hours. There was no callback, no follow-up, and no check-in, despite the office closing daily from 12-2 p.m. for administrative work and returned calls. Concerned for our cat's safety, we sought care from another veterinarian due to the complete lack of communication. We ultimately had to go to Murphy's Corner Animal Hospital in person just to obtain her test results because they would not return calls and apparently do not communicate via email. At the new clinic, we were informed that our cat had been misdiagnosed, and the supplement prescribed by Murphy's Corner Animal Hospital was actually worsening her condition. Please consider taking your pets elsewhere. I'm unsure what is happening internally at this practice, but based on our experience, patient care and communication do not appear to be priorities. read more

I got quoted 2,000$ for an amputation, and they understand my financial situation and told me 700$. My cat came out super healthy, no strings attached, even sending me a txt asking how her healing is. 10/10 best place to take your furry children ESPECIALLY when you can't afford it. Dr. Donna is very knowledgeable and listens to me when I tell her what is going on with my pet. I have never been over charged and I find her rates much cheaper then other vets. They also have grooming there. The staff is also awesome and very kind to my animals. When I bring my dogs in for their visit they happy to see the vet they are happy to be there and enjoy all the people. I am very happy with this clinic and recommend it highly. read more

Fails to properly keep records about your pets, missing test results that were paid for, failed to properly treat and diagnose ongoing conditions, office staff will become hostile if you question them on treatments 8 year old dog had neuter surgery 04/2024 because a lump was found. He had cryptorchidism which meant they also had to cut into his abdomen. Nearly $800 for the surgery, which included a $200 fee for the lump to be sent for biopsy that we never got results on. Shortly after, my dog began experiencing chronic pain in his spine and hips. He had a limp tail, trouble walking, stiff muscles, etc. This vet swore it had nothing to do with the surgery and wrote it off as age related and prescribed medication. Then when he was brought in again for the pain, it was actually an injury to his tail - more medication. He was brought in multiple times for this. When I called to inquire about an arthritis injectable, I was met with hostility and the response I got was that my dog wasn't old enough and it was just an injury and rest was needed. And if I believed it was something more serious than I needed to take him somewhere else because they couldnt treat it there. This was over a year after his surgery. And he is 9 years old now. For over a year my dog was drugged with no real diagnosis, no xrays, no tests. He still suffers from chronic pain. I recently called to refill his medication and was told they wouldn't do it unless I paid off a balance with them from over 10 years ago. A balance that was incurred from a cat with bladder stones, which they didn't treat correctly and resulted him repeatedly having to go back. They kept my cat for nearly 4 weeks without letting me see him. I have spent thousands of dollars at their clinic since then. Where are my dogs biopsy results that we paid for? Did he have testicle cancer? Does he still have cancer?! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Donna and the whole staff at the Animal Hospital on Murphy's Corner. They were able to see my bunny Arjun on an emergency basis the day after he broke his ankle, while all other reputable vets in the area were booked out for a month! They X-rayed and bandaged my baby boy's foot up and charged me less than $250. I have had bad experiences in the past with vets who gouge pet owners for emergency visits to the tune of thousands of dollars. The vets and techs at this hospital are not only honest and competent, they are also friendly and approachable. I will definitely utilize their services again! read more

I am really ticked off at our situation and this clinic. We called several times because our cat hasn't been eating/drinking for days and is vomiting bile. My cat was perfectly fine, went in for vaccines, 5 days later still sick and now my other cat is ALSO sick. I think he picked something up from this clinic and has now passed it on to my other cat. I called and asked what to do and it's been beyond 24hrs and still no call back. No return calls. Now my cat is at an animal hospital--- when I called and explained the situation to ER they said it was an emergency and we needed to bring him in immediately. This is pure negligence not having anyone return our phone calls. We will be transferring care at this point. I cannot believe how we've been treated-- or really, lack there of. Do not take your animal here please do not take them here. We've been taking our animals here for 2 years now and it used to be a lot better than what it is now. The workers here are awful and mean and you can tell they don't care about their job or the animals that come in. Our baby was 15 years old and had no health issues until recent when he started losing muscle mass and appetite, the vet just pushed appetite stimulants on him and didn't take blood work or an X-ray to see what might be causing the issue. We would call many times because they never answer and the people working the front desk would never relay the information to the vet, one person who's name is Leslie even said "please stop calling multiple times a day we have caller id and can see it's you" and was so incredibly rude when our dog had a seizure and we didn't know what to do or what was happening with our baby and we needed to talk to someone on what to do after his seizure. We ended up taking our baby to the emergency vet and they did an x ray right away and saw a mass the size of his stomach and we had to put him down. If this vet would of taken the time to actually look after our animal maybe we could of caught the issue earlier on and had more time with him. Like I said please don't take your babies here. They over book, they don't answer or call back, they don't have knowledge and they don't truly care. read more

There are not enough positive words in the dictionary to say how great this clinic is. It is difficult to reach them by phone, but if you leave a message they will call back. Dr. Donna loves the animals so much. It is apparent by the way she talks to them. Our fur baby is an excellent judge of character, and he loves her. I literally showed up for my puppy's appointment for an anal gland express yesterday. Which should take 5-15 minutes in and out. But it literally took me 45 minutes to be helped and to pay. I'm over it. Yesterday, I walked up to the gal with the iPad, Checked in, and waited in my car for 20 minutes PAST appointment time for what was supposed to be a quick visit. I then get a call from the receptionist asking me if I want to reschedule because I was a "no-show", while still waiting in their parking lot. It's hard for me to write this review. But I have given this vet location multiple times to figure their system out, even with Covid. Also, to only hear other friends Poor comments made on this same location. They just can't seem to get their times and system in order. EVERY time you call, you were placed on hold unless it's an emergency. When you show up. You cannot prepay for a quick visit like an ear cleaning, or a anal gland express, or blood test. So it's double the waiting. (Which are not short wait times) They always seem to be low on staff. There's always and only one receptionist working in her iPad.. Which creates long lines and wait times. She's the same person checking people in. So there's interruptions. And It's always hard to make an appointment. Donna has been great with my puppy. But this location is just not worth the prices and the wait times anymore. Also, the parking lot is awful. Maybe 15 spots, and with how busy they are, it's always full, right off a very busy street. read more

As others have mentioned, no one available to answer the phone for even basic questions or communicate information on instructions, recommendations from the vet, or follow up. It took me far too much time away from my own work to bring my pet to them (twice!) and in the end-- they were never able to do the procedure or answer simple questions re: treatment plans or concerns. Dr. Donna is nice enough, however I'm pretty sure she killed my bunny and had no look of sympathy when she knowingly put a senior rabbit under anesthesia that was supposedly "very light". I've been taking my bunny to see Donna for over a year. She just recently neutered my bunny, and it all went great. I decided to write a review after seeing all really uneducated people write reviews. So want to clarify and defend this place. Making appointments: First it is a busy vet, Donna is amazing with animals. So obviously it's going to be a busy place as she's very intelligent and knows what she's doing. Secondly, it can be hard to make in appointment in a sense that you will have to be put on hold in the morning. Have non of you people called a doctors office? I've been on hold more with doctors for myself than at this vet. The check in the morning can be busy, but of course most people want their animal to get seen first thing in the AM before they go to their jobs. So if you get overwhelmed maybe make an appointment in the afternoon. Emergency situations : This is not an emergency vet. So don't treat it like one, even if my animal had an issue and Donna had seen him for years, I would be understanding and take him to an emergency room for animals, not his primary care. I have never taken myself in an emergency situation to see my primary care doctor, so I chucked reading some of your reviews. Also when I was there someone was having an emergency and guess what, she still she helped and brought them in. Cost: Northwest animal hospital quoted me $800 for his neuter, he had an appointment there and was $100. His surgery was less than $300, and his meds have always been $60 dollars cheaper than any vet, so for people complaining, if it was seeming outrageous some other place probably would have just put your put down or made you paid thousands on thousands. Unfortunately, with higher population rise in Washington state means more stupid people, so they don't have a rating this is just. If you decide to come here, please be patient, and understanding. I've been to tons of vets, with other animals, even with my bunny and I've had vets, near drop my rabbit, because they have no idea what they are doing. Donna is the only person that I have seen hold (he won't even let me hold him)and treat my animal with such care. I feel confident saying that I would trust her judgement with my bunny anyway. And since I've lived around the world and in many states can honestly compare because I encountered many vets. Donna has a true heart and love for your animal. She has integrity. I'm so upset right now, my poor dog has been treated with such flippant disregard. She being a puppy had a spay and nose nares surgery to open up her nasal canal. The day after she was showing signs of great discomfort, I brought her back in to make sure everything was okay. I was told it's normal healing, 3 days later brought her in yet again, told the same thing. 3 days later back in, told she's healing up fine, (as a owner I could tell and her nose wound had a stench of infection) at 10 days post op I marched her back down. They said yet again, healing looks great! I thought otherwise.... (am I now being a freak about my dog?) I could not take another round, so my wifey went down for suture removal. That evening I could still not only visually still see sutures, I could see infection of green and orange. Back down too the clinic the very next day, removed those stitches. Still my poor dog looked, acted like her nose was infected and still smelled horrible. Now at 3 weeks post op, we took her to another vet for a second opinion. Guess what? They found even more stitches, ( removed them )and they said it's CLEAR it's infected. She's now back on pain meds, and for the first time given antibiotics. The poor girls gone through the ringer, her nose looks like it will be horribly disfigured for LIFE! read more

Doctor Sowder DVM and her staff are AWESOME, in every way, at what they do!! I have been a loyal customer of this vet clinic for about 10 years. Unfortunately my last 2 experiences here have been not good. I took my cat in for some labwork on a Saturday morning, mid- May, due to concerns about my cat drinking a lot of water and vomiting on occasion, at which time Dr. Donna did not ask me about my concern or let me know the process or follow up regarding labs. The tech brought my cat back to me, said I could wait 18 minutes for the labs to run, or I could go home and receive a call back regarding results. Fast forward to three weeks later, I had not heard back about the test results. I have called and left 3 separate messages requesting a return call. Finally had the opportunity to call again today and talked with front desk staff. The reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 is that the prices are quite reasonable, and I do like Dr. Donna, I just wish she was able to provide better care & communication. I've been bringing my cat there for 2.5 years and consistently the front desk staff is rock bottom for professionalism, friendliness, and punctuality. The experiences have been abysmal! Please read the reviews about the office staff. You will feel like it is you who are bothering them and disrupting their day by simply calling or arriving for an appointment. If you call in, plan on being asked if you have an emergency. If you don't have an emergency, plan on being put on hold for 15-20 minutes or more. Last time I called to make an appointment for my cat's yearly check up and immunizations, I waited on hold for 20 minutes and finally hung up and called back again thinking she must have forgotten about me. She of course said is this an emergency? And I said "Hold on a second - I've been on hold already for 20 minutes and I just need to make an appointment." She got defensive and said with a tone "Yes, but I am the only one here right now so you'll have to wait on hold, or I could call you back later when I have time." Are you surprised to hear that she never called me back? Time is precious - don't waste yours here. A little customer service goes along way and you won't find it here. I immediately searched and found a new vet I am very happy with. Even though my new vet requested my cat's files from here, I still received a reminder card in the mail for my cat's check up a couple of months later. Dr Donna had been seeing our dog for 8 yrs...since she was a puppy. She has always diagnosed correctly, tried to save us money, has been available for emergencies, and is honest. Her staff is efficient and knowledgeable. We love her full-time groomer, Jamey Harting!! Jamey has been grooming our dog for almost 8 years as well. I wouldn't let anyone else groom her. Jamey loves our dog, gives her a great cut, and goes the extra mile to make her look well groomed with clean teeth. She's prompt and has a fair price. A stray cat ended up In my yard after being hit by a car. It had blood in its mouth and two broken back legs. I live right by this place I called them and explain the situation that this cat was in agony it had no collar and was definitely a stray. They actually had the nerve to tell me they were too booked up to euthanize it. It was 5:30 PM on a Thursday and they close at 6-they basically just didn't want to stay open. This is shameful for a vet office that is supposed to be in business to help animals. They did not care that this poor animal was suffering and instead told me to call an emergency vet and good luck. It had no home no family and this place didn't even care I would never bring an animal here after that experience. I found out after calling another local vet that there is what's called the good Samaritan clause so if you have a animal that is not yours that is clearly suffering and you want to bring it in they can take care of it. This place chose not to. Please think twice before giving your money to a place like this I'm so disappointed in our community vet. read more

I've been taking our dog to Dr. Donna Sowder's Animal Hospital at Murphy's Corner for the last few years. Yesterday, our little guy passed away in her arms as she was trying to keep him alive. He was old, diabetic, and blind ... and very tired. Still, we thought, as did the staff, that he'd be coming home to us. I have to say that Dr. Sowder's staff and she, herself, went above and beyond every, single time we had to take our fur baby in for 'whatever.' They are so kind and welcoming ... and yes, you may get put on hold for a time when you call in and you might have to wait a bit when you arrive for your appointment - but rest assured that when it's your turn, your needs will be met, your questions answered, and your animal will be given the best of care. My husband and I are retired and Sowder's staff knew how important a family member our little man was to not only us, but our 10 kids and all the grandchildren. I can say that yesterday as we were saying our final goodbye, the room was filled with love and compassion. Tears were shed, hugs were given ... if you want a loving, caring, professional, competent group of people to care for your cat or dog (and at one point I even saw a rabbit in there) ... this is the place to come. My pets had been patients of Dr. Sowder for the last several years. I cannot speak more highly of the care they have received from her and if I had a choice we would have remained loyal clients. Instead, I have been forced to transition their care to a different veterinarian because I cannot get anyone at the front desk on the phone to make an appointment. After multiple phone calls placed at different times of the day, on different days/weeks/months, I have been unable to make an appointment. IF anyone picks the phone up they immediately ask to put you on hold. I have been forgotten THREE times on hold for periods lasting for 12-20 minutes (before I hung up). I am not the only one experiencing this issue. In the course of trying to get one of my pet's records sent to another clinic I mentioned to the receptionist that I had given up trying to reach this clinic by phone. She told me that she's frequently experienced the same issue when attempting to contact them to obtain records, and has had clients relate similar experiences. This is an unacceptable lack of service on the part of the front desk and a terrible disservice to the clients and pets. read more

I drop in with Louie for a nail trim, anal expression, ear exam and cleaning, vaccinations and general check ups. They are alway so accommodating and happy to see us. I have seen clients come from this clinic very unhappy and discouraged, It's unacceptable with how long their wait times are on the phone, you can not ever get ahold of them Being a worker at another clinic when its an emergency to get records over, they seem to not care. I don't ever write reviews and it makes me sad to have to write this one b/c the Doctor really is a sweetheart as a person. I've gone to this vet a few times now -- every single time I was put on hold for at least 10-15 min before I could even speak to someone. And when someone finally picked up, they were extremely cold and rude. You can tell the front desk girls are literally always stressed -- it's evident over the phone and when you walk in. I had both of my dogs on one visit to get their nails clipped and had to wait 20 min just for someone up front to check me in. These aren't one off occurrences, this has happened every time I've brought my dogs in. They do not have an exam room where you can walk in, speak to the doctor and get your questions/concerns answered. Recently my dog had an itchy rash all over her and when they went to call us in to see the doctor, they took her from me and wouldn't allow me in the back b/c there was a procedure happening. I told them I have questions and would like to be with my dog during the exam so I can talk to the doctor. They finally let me go back and the doctor gave an exam to my dog on the floor about 10 feet from an animal being operated on. I thought it was odd but I was willing to overlook it. Over the last couple of days my dog has been showing signs of a UTI and I know you don't mess around w/those b/c they can turn into bladder infections really quickly so I called the vet this morning -- once again was put on hold for 20 min -- then when she finally came back she told me to bring in a urine sample and they'll "put it in the machine to see whats going on" -- I asked if I needed to bring her in w/me when I brought that in, they said no and that they'd just "send me home with meds or something" after they look at the urine sample. Every time I've had a female dog w/a UTI they want to SEE her physically to make sure nothing else is happening and they usually gave them shots to knock the infection out quickly and sent them home w/antibiotics to make sure it stays gone. It seemed really odd to me that they would prescribe meds without even seeing the dog. So I called another vet in the area, they said they'd absolutely want to see the dog first before prescribing meds, they were kind and patient over the phone and depending on the experience at her appt today, we will be switching vets. This place is very affordable, super cheap -- but I'd pay more if it meant my pet and myself were treated better by the staff. Pet health problems are already stressful enough. read more
