My 14 year old chihuahua had an infected carnassial tooth and a slightly mobile canine tooth, which caused her sudden swelling and a visit to the vet. Our vet gave her antibiotics for the infection but communicated to me that in time the infection would return. He recommended extraction, but due to her age and the required anestesia, he referred me to a specialist for the surgery. He assured me that Dr. Van Nice at ADS was someone he really trusted. I have been taking my dog to our vet, Dr. Fanous in Newport Beach, for over 10 years so I really trust his expertise and opinion. I called ADS and made an appointment. Honestly, I was terrified of the possibility that there could be a complication. I overthink everything and I started to panic that she could die during surgery (ridiculous, I know). However, I knew that I would feel worse to let her deal with the pain and sensitivity she was experiencing for the past few weeks. I made the decision to go through with the surgery. Bella had 8 teeth removed, due to loose and rotting teeth mostly in the back of her mouth. This was all explained to me at her consultation, where they were able to examine her and give me an overview of what to expect. On the day of the surgery, I was updated throughout the process and that gave me some relief, as I was very worried and stressed. It has been 6 months since Bella's surgery and she is so happy. She is back to being playful and does not look miserable or sad anymore. I wish I would have done the surgery sooner. If anyone is reading this wondering if they should take the risk- I highly recommend this team of professionals to help your pet have a better quality of life. Thank you so much Animal Dental Services! I am so grateful for your help.

From the first greeting with Tammy all the way up to my fur-baby's procedure discharge with Dr. Mirchel, the experience was more than what I could have asked for. As a nervous pet mom, I greatly appreciated how everyone welcomed Rigby like on of their own. (He's ALSO a very nervous little guy). In addition to the excellent service, this facility sent me text messages to alert me of my little guy's process. This was extremely helpful because I didn't have to keep wondering about him. I'm very thankful for Dr. Mirchel, Beatriz, Tammy, Stephanie and all of the other members working hard for our furry family members. Thank you!

My happy toothless baby

I wanted to leave a review because I'm a crazy cat mom who read's reviews before doing anything with my fur babies. My cat had stomatitis and I tried everything before her vet recommended extractions. I will say we are on the extra side because her vet did not recommend specialty care but I wanted the best care for my babies procedure. All surgeries can be scary and me and my Sofia had anxiety leading up to it but ADS made it not worth any anxiety at all. The whole surgery day went perfectly and I couldn't have asked for better people to take care of my daughter (my cat Sofia). They were in constant contact with me so I didn't worry at all. Dr Van Nice called me after her procedure to tell me it went great! The other doctor Dr Merchel (I think is her name) is amazing she helped us with her discharge and post op recheck. I brought blankets for them to give to her after her surgery and they followed all of my wishes. They are extremely caring people. You can trust them with your most precious cargo. You can tell they are very organized and thorough. Worth every $1. Sofia's nurse was so caring her name was Stephanie. She went above and beyond to meet my wishes. They checked on us the next day to see how she was doing. My cat had just turned 2 so for us it was about the best quality of life for her many years ahead of her. Thank you so much for helping my gummy bear ADS team, she's doing so good with no teeth. I'm so happy for her. She is her normal crack head self unfazed by having no teeth now. Really could not have gone better. We are so thankful. - Natasha & Sofia

My dog fractured her upper carnassial and needed a biopsy on a lump on her gums. My primary vet referred me to a dental specialist for treatment options. She did not refer me to Dr. Van Nice, but I had already done some research myself after I suspected she broke her tooth. In my hunt, the two dental specialty offices in the OC area that came highly recommended were the one she had referred me to and Animal Dental Services. I called both offices on March 19 to see when I could get a consultation. I knew before contacting the offices that getting an appointment would mean patience, as there are so few "doggie dentists" in the area. The specialist my vet referred me to had an opening on April 17, and Dr. Van Nice could see my dog on March 27. While both were highly qualified, I had already been leaning towards Dr. Van Nice since he is board certified; he's part of the Advanced Veterinary Specialty Group, the same as my dog's orthopedic specialist -- both in the same building; but the earlier appointment time was also a HUGE bonus. Consultation appointments are held from 8-9:30 am and the fee is $97. You have to give a credit or debit card to hold the appointment and I was told they will charge you the full amount if you give less than 24 hours notice of cancellation. Similar policy to my human dentist. Dr. Van Nice is the nicest man and was very gentle with my dog, who is beyond terrified of vet offices. Looking at the molar, he immediately diagnosed a slab fracture and gave me the option of a root canal with a crown or extraction. He laid out the pros and cons of each procedure, post-surgery recovery for each, but never once did I feel he was pushing me towards one versus the other, or that I would be doing my dog a disservice by doing an extraction instead of saving the tooth. He even took the time to explain how this fracture happens on a model of a dog's jaw and gave me tips on how to check if a chew is teeth-friendly. He was thorough and answered any and all questions I had. My dog had her biopsy/surgery on April 10 and as stressful as this situation was, I couldn't be more pleased with the level of care she received from everyone. I'm not sure what could've prompted the reviews saying Practice Administrator Julie was "difficult" because that wasn't my experience with her AT ALL. I had been expecting Nurse Ratchet judging by some of the other reviews, but she was efficient, knowledgeable, friendly and thorough in her post-op care instructions. I even requested a phone call after the blood panel/x-rays were done to make sure everything looked okay to proceed as planned, and she was more than willing to accommodate me. In the end, my final bill even turned out to be $200 less than what I was initially quoted. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my dog back to Dr. Van Nice and Animal Dental Services if ever the need should arise again. But with that said, I hope I never have to!

to say that Dr. Nice lives up to his name would be an understatement! We drove 2hrs for a consult with Dr. Nice and his team, it was worth every mile. The staff here at Animal Dental Services is very professional and caring; our appt. was our 9mo. pup that is a distemper survivor with enamel hypolplasia. Dr. Nice was very hands on and caring with our Roscoe, giving him a throrough yet gentle exam and analysis with recommendations for longterm care. I was so relieved and grateful!! I would highly recommend Dr. Nice and office to anyone.

Van Nice was very kind and understanding about our dog's anxiety, as he tends to be reactive to strangers.

This review is long overdue. I've been bringing my dog, Chelsea, to OC Veterinary for 10 years,…read moreever since I moved her down from the Bay Area. Chelsea recently passed away at 17, almost 18. She had such a long, happy life because of the care she received here. Chelsea was my baby, and I know how hard it can be to find a good vet. Pets can't talk, but you can see when they are genuinely cared for--and Chelsea got the best care at OC Veterinary. From the receptionists to the doctors, she was loved by everyone, and I am so grateful for that. Chelsea saw both Dr. Horn and, mostly, Dr. Nikki--both are exceptional veterinarians. We saw Dr. Nikki the most, and we had a very special connection with her. After Chelsea passed, Dr. Nikki even reached out to check on us, which was incredibly kind. She is practical, compassionate, and everything you could want in a vet. Chelsea also saw the groomer, Heather, who was very gentle and careful with her. Chelsea had back issues and was an older little lady, so it was comforting to know she was in safe hands. Sandra and Steve also made a big impact on Chelsea's life, especially Steve. They cared for her like she was their own family. Steve even called to check on us after Chelsea passed, which meant so much. I'm sorry this review comes so late, but I feel Chelsea would have wanted me to write it, and I want to honor her memory. No one enjoys visiting the doctor, but I am so grateful that we found such a wonderful facility to care for Chelsea. I loved her with all my heart, and after our family, OC Veterinary loved her most.

The surgeon demonstrated a very high level of skill and confidence, which gave me immediate trust that my dog was in the best possible hands. The procedure itself went smoothly, and it was clear that great attention to detail and expertise were applied. Equally important was the care provided by the staff before and after the surgery. The team was attentive, compassionate, and consistently kept me informed with timely updates on my dog's condition, recovery progress, and overall well-being. That level of communication made a significant difference and provided real peace of mind during what can otherwise be a stressful time. Overall, I felt fully supported from start to finish, and the combination of surgical expertise and outstanding post-operative care exceeded my expectations. What went well, and what you did best, was the combination of expert care and consistent, thoughtful communication throughout the entire process. From the moment we arrived, everything felt organized, professional, and focused on ensuring the best outcome for my dog. The surgeon's skill and confidence stood out immediately, and the procedure itself was handled with precision and care. What I appreciate most is how attentive and communicative the staff was before and especially after the surgery. I was kept informed with regular updates on my dog's well-being and recovery, which provided a great deal of reassurance. The team showed genuine compassion and took the time to answer questions, making sure I felt comfortable and informed every step of the way. That combination of surgical expertise and compassionate, proactive support is what truly set this experience apart.

I took him to a different hospital at first, and the experience there was very poor and depressing. It felt like they were just doing business, not caring for a living being who was terrified and hurt. Three weeks later, Pepper suddenly stopped eating and began throwing up everything he tried to eat. That's when I brought him to Lee Animal Hospital. His liver had started failing, and the chances weren't good. My daughter and I went to pick him up each day during his three days of treatment, hoping he might have another miracle in him. From the beginning, Dr. Lee was clear and honest about Pepper's condition. I appreciated that more than anything. He didn't try to give me false hope or push unnecessary treatments. I never once felt like he was taking advantage of the situation -- he was simply being truthful, patient, and compassionate during an incredibly painful time. The rest of the team was kind and tried their best. Many of them were very young, but you could see they genuinely cared about Pepper and wanted to help. Even though Pepper didn't get better, I'm grateful for the integrity and care Dr. Lee showed, and for the effort the whole team put into supporting us through Pepper's final days. Pepper was a fighter -- gentle, loyal, and braver than any little dog should ever have to be. After everything he survived, he deserved honesty and compassion at the end, and that's exactly what Dr. Lee gave him. For that, I'll always be thankful.

My initial review will be short and sweet!…read more I walked into Lee animal hospital with no appointment seeking a quote to get my pup spayed. The front desk was so friendly, they were patient, thorough, and answered all of my questions (even the slightly neurotic ones lol) The hospital is clean, spacious, and makes both you and your fur baby feel comfortable and safe (my pup was happy as a clam in the lobby as I asked my questions) First impressions really do matter because it took all of 10 minutes before I decided to schedule and book my pup's spay. In addition their prices are super reasonable (and I've visited every vet within a 20 mile radius of this one over the past couple of months) I will follow up with another review once my pup has had her spay!
