Our cat died in the ER at this hospital. We rushed her in for what initially appeared to be gastrointestinal distress. She was stable when we arrived, but overnight her condition deteriorated rapidly. Throughout the night, we were repeatedly told that her body temperature kept dropping after sedation and medical interventions began. We were left wondering whether her response to the sedation or medications may have played a role in her death. We understand that emergency cases can be unpredictable, but we left with many unanswered questions about the course of care. Ultimately, we went home without our beloved cat. Losing a pet is heartbreaking. Experiencing it this way, with uncertainty and unresolved concerns, made it even more painful.

This Place did not give me a good feeling, it seem like a money pit, the Doctor at first was telling me that my dog who had a urine track infection would need surgery and that I might have to put her down, they said they needed to do test on her totaling over $2,000.00, where almost $800.00 just for medicine and then said that it was an infection and want me to keep my dog there for 2 day at a cost of $10,000.00. After reading a lot of the reviews, I have to agree, VCA is a Money Pit with over charging for there services, do not take you animal to this place unless you like to get ripped off

I was then referred to take Bruiser here to be seen by the internal medicine department. Luckily they were able to squeeze me in with Dr. Cieplucha. Dr. Cieplucha and her assistant were AMAZING. I'm sorry I can't remember her name. Her consult was thorough and she answered all my questions and concerns. Finances were an issue for me and she literally did what she could to help me out conservatively. Unfortunately my sweet Bruiser boy is in the late stages of cancer and there is nothing more we can do for him at this time. I am glad I came here to see a specialist because they answered all of my questions and help me decide what is best for my sweet boy. I wanted to give kudos for the wonderful ladies at the front as well because I was so nervous coming today but they were the sweetest individuals ever. Usually vet medicine is scary but I have ever felt so seen, heard, and welcomed. Thank you Dr. Cieplucha, her assistant and the wonderful staff of AVSG. I'm devastated to receive bad news but I couldn't have asked for a more amazing team to treat Bruiser.

The front desk person, as well as the nursing and supporting staff, were polite and kind, but that's the only compliment I have, unfortunately. Since my dog was suffering post-op, I was filled with worry and stress, and needed and expected medical guidance I could trust. I feel like I did not get that from my dog's attending vet and head of the department, Dr. April Summers. Dr. Summers did update me every day on my dog's status, but I felt that she failed to concisely communicate sound options for next steps. Her thoughts seemed scattered and sometimes contradictory to me, and she admitted during a phone call that my dog''s case "frustrated" her. This made me wary of my dog's treatment. My feelings were heightened, when during a visit, I found my dog's tail covered in urine. Even more concerning, during that same visit, we were taken to a room where we were provided with a tank of oxygen, which my dog needed. An hour later, my mom wondered if the tank was on. She asked a nurse who confirmed that it was off and turned it on. Because of my negative experience with Dr. Summers and her team, I would never advise anyone to leave their pet's care with AVSG Critical Care at this time.

From the moment we walked in, the team (Brandon especially) stood out. Brandon was incredibly kind, patient, and communicative, which made a huge difference for us as anxious parents. He loves labs too and mocha loves being loved! Toni, Julie, Serena and Marcela were amazing with mocha too and really helped calm some of her stress too Dr Sohn took the time to thoroughly talk with us, gather Mocha's history, and understand everything that was going on. We never felt rushed or brushed off, they made sure we were fully informed and prepared for each step. Most importantly, they helped keep us calm during an overwhelming situation. They didn't try to oversell unnecessary tests, but they also made sure to run a comprehensive set of diagnostics so that no possibilities were overlooked. It felt like they genuinely cared about doing what was best for Mocha, not just checking boxes. Overall, we felt supported, heard, and confident in the care Mocha received. We're very grateful to the team and would definitely recommend them!

That leads to me believe that it's not even actually him responding to people on Yelp. A manager of the hospital called and said they were the best person to help me, and I insisted that I speak to Mr. Cao. They continued on that they are the managers and the best people to help me, but I insisted that I talked to someone that is actually a doctor and not administrative. it has been more than three days. We got an analysis of the fluid in his abdomen that built up, which was more than a pint and a half and this hospital allowed it to remain and didn't even take a sample like they promised to do. The analysis showed that his body is fighting some sort of infection and his blood cells rapidly increased. Not only could they have removed the fluid, but they could have given him an antibiotic. They failed to give our antibiotic to our French bulldog as well when he had an infection. In my opinion, it is cruelty to a dog to do what they did and just take my money and allow him to suffer. He is anemic and fighting an infection and basically fighting for his life. Now they won't even respond to me. There are a few good doctors here that do the right thing. But has a hole, two out of our four visits in the last year. These guys have not done what was right for our dogs and left two dogs in pain leaving their hospital without proper care.

After hours of tests and waiting, around 2:00 a.m. I was told she needed emergency gallbladder surgery and that survival was "50/50." I understand emergencies are urgent, but I did not feel I received honest, objective guidance about what those odds realistically meant for a senior dog, likely outcomes, or quality of life. I felt heavy pressure to move forward. The pricing was shocking, quoted between $9,500 and $7,500, and the way it was presented felt like a sales push. When I asked questions about the quote, I was handed a credit application and told to apply online from my phone while my dog was laying on the table in front of me whimpering. When I tried to ask why it cost so much, the doctor would walk out and say, "I don't talk money," even though I wasn't trying to negotiate, I was trying to understand the procedure, the risks, and what I was being asked to consent to. I was also being asked to sign disclaimers by front office staff who could not answer my questions, and the responses I got felt scripted and unrelated to what I was asking. I was told I couldn't wait there. After I left, they called me back saying her heart rate had dropped. I said I did not think they should go forward with surgery, but I was told they were proceeding anyway. Shortly after, I heard monitor alarms, and I went to wait in my car. No one explained what was happening, and about an hour later I was told my dog had died. The surgeon never spoke to me. Go elsewhere. If you need overnight emergency care, choose a different hospital. I thought this was the only overnight emergency option nearby, but I later found out there are other choices. VCA on Euclid is about five minutes away and open 24 hours, and my later experience there with my other dog was the complete opposite in communication, compassion, and professionalism.

She had already gone to her doctor earlier that day and was treated, and we thought she might be ok for the night at home; however, once the pain meds wore off, she was definitely not feeling well. We took her to the Fountain Valley Emergency Pet Hospital, and she was treated wonderfully. I've had previous poor experiences with other emergency rooms, but this one was different. From the moment we walked in, she had her vitals taken quickly. We then waited (not long) for her to see a doctor, and the doctor came in to give us an idea of what needed to be done. We left her there for further testing, fluids, and pain control. We were contacted, and the results were reviewed over the phone (I was sent links for radiology and labs) to go over them with the doctor. The plan of care was thoroughly explained, and she felt better the next morning. I even received updates and a photo from that evening. We picked her up and were sent home with medical records and everything she needed to continue care with her regular primary vet. Everything was also sent directly to her regular primary care vet. Everyone was pleasant and truly seemed to care about the circumstances. Dr You was great with her and very good at going over the results. Honey was treated like family. She left in the morning and was on the road to recovery along with her primary vet, whom we took her to that day. Lo and behold, the following week, Honey was outside using the backyard restroom when a coyote attacked her. Our black lab rescued her, and I am so thankful nothing worse happened. Be careful, it's Coyote season! I knew when that happened she had a laceration to her face and it would need to be repaired, it was after hours so there we went back to Fountain Valley Emergency Pet Hospital. We were seen relatively quickly; they had a busy night, and the doctor was in surgery when we arrived. Honey was stable, so we waited until she could be seen. Dr. Hoogeveen saw Honey and she was great, she came to speak to us and explain what Honey would need and the best course of treatment for her. Honey had to undergo general anesthesia, which we were extremely concerned about, given her age and the fact that she was still recovering from a very rough bout of pancreatitis. Dr. Hoogeveen walked us through it, answered all of our questions, and provided direction for her care. Honey stayed the night again, once Dr. Hoogeveen was done with the surgery she contacted us to let us know how everything went. We were able to pick up Honey in the morning, and she looked well. Honey recovered well,l and they took good care of her. Honey is now recovering at home after a very stressful two week,s and I am grateful that we had a place to go to for her care when her regular Vet was closed. As far as cleanliness, it's very clean. The staff are all wonderful. They offer different payment options, such as CareCredit and Cherry. I don't know if they offer others, but we were able to qualify for Cherry, which was a considerable relief after an expensive two weeks! Honey is now recovering at home. The only wish I have is that they would be open a bit later during the weekdays. Not every regular vet is open early for transfer. Hopefully, in the future, that can be an option. I wouldn't hesitate to take your pet here if you need emergent care. I appreciate that they treated Honey like family. Hopefully, we won't be back anytime soon, but I still recommend them if you need to!

His calm, gentle demeanor instantly put me at ease. One of my biggest worries with emergency vets is that they'll push for unnecessary tests just to rack up a bill -- but Dr. You was the complete opposite. He was honest, straightforward, and only recommended abdominal X-rays, which was exactly what I was hoping for and all my dog really needed. As a pet parent, when your animal is struggling, it's easy to get flustered and ask a million questions. But not once did he seem annoyed or rushed. He was patient, thorough, and very transparent about what to watch for at home and what the next steps would be if things didn't improve. I have five pets, and if anything ever happens and I can't get to my primary vet, this will absolutely be my go-to emergency clinic. Highly recommend!

We traveled over an hour to get immediate attention for our kitty and it was worth it. I wish they were closer, so they could be our regular vet. We are still deciding on next steps, but I wanted to ensure that it was clear that the people here at this facility DO care. It's not another 'just here to take your money using the love of your pet as hostage' situation that many of us know all too well. Office was clean, easily accessible, and had lots of parking. Sadly it's all the way in Irvine LOL
