For most pet owners, large scale shops like Petco or Petsmart are more than sufficient for their pet's needs. However, sometimes pets need more specialized food and treats and that is where shops like Animal Crackers come in. Animal Crackers is located along Westfield Avenue in Clark, a main drag with lots of smaller shops, eateries and medical offices. Having a pet supply store at the end of such a stretch somehow makes perfect sense (and it's next to a pet groomer too!). The store may seem small at first but it's actually a really good size, with aisles filled with supplies for various pets, with a huge focus on dogs. In the back they have fresh food in fridges. Cat food is in the same area. I needed food from Koha, a higher end brand and fortunately Animal Crackers not only carried it but they also ask very reasonable prices. For your convenience, you can have Animal Crackers order cases of food for you. Getting an entire case of cat food also gets me one complimentary can - and don't forget to get a punch card to track your purchases! Customer service is great. Very knowledgeable and helpful. 1st went to Petco to look for a product to help with an issue I was having with my dogs health. They had nothing and no one knew anything. This place is great! The owner and her staff are all very friendly and the store is consistently well stocked and prices are right in line with most competitors if not cheaper. Nice incentive punch card program offered and also a rewards/loyalty program direct from the manufacturers for some of the higher end foods they carry granting a free case/bag of food for every "X" (I think it's every 12 cases...but I don't quite remember...either way free is free and I'll take it) # of cases/bags purchased. I can easily get my food, snacks, and supplies from Chewy but I don't mind taking the ride and supporting small businesses with great service. Clean, well organized, well stocked variety, friendly staff...what more can you ask for. read more

I have no trouble finding specialty food for my dog here. I am able to get the high quality products at a reasonable price. Knowing that I am supporting a local business makes me more inclined to support because the level of service is personalized. They offer incentives for folks who go there regularly. There is a convenient parking lot for their establishment so you can easily shop. read more

Say good-bye to the chain pet stores. Animal Crackers has an extensive array of top quality pet food, supplies and toys. Prices are competitive. You're getting a bargain here, and you're not getting gouged. If you buy your pet food where you buy your yogurt or shampoo, you're doing your pet an injustice. read more

This is a great local place for me to get food and treats for my pup. They carry a lot of great brands, and you won't find the cheap Alpo or Pedigree crap. I go here to pick up Blue Buffalo and the prices are pretty much on par with what you'd pay at Petsmart/Petco. They also sell a large variety of treats and I love that right by their door, they always have different free samples of different kind of dog and cat kibble. Get a punch card and for every $10 spent you get a punch (not the Ali type). After 10 (or $100 spent) you get $5 off your next purchase. read more

Excellent selection, not great customer service. I called Animal Crackers to get information about raw food diets for our dogs. The person I spoke was honest and admitted she was not knowledgeable about raw dog food. When I asked if anyone there was, she suggested I speak to the owner, Janine. My husband and I took a ride to the store and discussed the options with Janine. She suggested a brand which she didn't have in stock. She offered to contact the company the next day for prices, then call us with the information. We were patient and waited a full week before calling to speak to Janine again. She was not there so I explained the details to the person answering the phone, and gave her my phone number, again. I never heard anything back, not from Janine or anyone at Animal Crackers. This was pertaining to food, so time was of the essence, not that there are any valid reasons to leave a customer hanging. It is coming up on three weeks since our visit to Animal Crackers. Having done non-profit works for many years, making and returning phone calls day and night for ZERO financial gain, this is not acceptable and a major pet peeve. I have had customer service complaints with this business since they first opened, as have people I've sent there. It is important for me to patronize local businesses, and I encourage others to do the same. In the age of e-commerce ordering online is so easy. It's becoming harder for many people to resist huge inventories, free shipping, free returns and 24-hour customer service. Although this shop is very small, and can be somewhat crowded on adoption days, it has an excellent selection. I love that they carry FROMM and a large assortment of bully sticks and chews. I was disappointed to see that they only carried small bags of cat food and do not stock the 20 lb. bags, but I believe they can special order them on request. Wonderful customer service! read more

This is the store we have been needing in our area for so long! Animal Crackers carries the premium brands of dog food that aren't available at any pet store around here. Brands like Orijen, Merrick, etc that I feed my pups. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and even stayed open a few extra minutes for me when I called to say I was running late but needed food for the Canines! Nice little gem of a pet store. Really impressive selection of cat and dog food. I have a cat with food allergies so I have been going crazy trying to find a food he can tolerate. Tried the big chains but despite the size of their stores their selection is really limited and they only carry the big brands. Went here and not only did they have all the little specialty brands I found online, but a bunch of brands I didn't even know existed. I mean who knew they have cat food made out of kangaroo? Staff is also really helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend the place especially if you are into high quality food for your pet. read more

Update: They moved to 5 Westfield Ave last year (by the 711 convenience store). Animal Crackers doesn't sell pets anymore, but they've got a larger building and have expanded their pet food selection. Last time I was there, they have their own line of scented pet odor candles. Prices are still great. A dog grooming salon and self-service wash just opened next door! Owner of the grooming salon, Mikey, is a really nice guy (cute as a button, too). Owner of Animal Crackers is still cool as hell. Actually, she's cute too. They're all cute. read more

Wonderful independent "Mom & Pop" pet supply store. They carry a wide range of healthy pet foods that the big box stores don't carry. Kind and knowledgeable staff makes shopping here very pleasant. Plenty of free parking in their lot. read more
