Great spot for some quick Thai. The service is always fast and helpful. I love their rice dishes. My absolute go to is their Cashews with medium heat (#3). The portions are quite large perfect for leftovers or sharing. The store is very well lit and they are always working to improve their interior with positive changes. There's plenty of parking at the shopping center where the restaurant is located. You enter to soft bossanova playing in the background. Small restaurant- 7 tables and 3 booths. I came in around 6:30pm on a Sunday evening and was asked to seat myself. Even though the server appeared to be unresponsible for taking orders, bussing the tables, and getting the drinks (whew!), it wasn't long before she came to take my order. Drunken Noodles are typically spicy, but you get to name the number of your spice level: from "1-- Angry Thai!" and you select your protein - I chose duck. I was surprised that there were fettuccine noodles instead of the wide flat noodles you typically see in this dish. It was infused with duck and scrumptious, with the right amount of heat for me (level 2). Also got a Thai iced tea, which came in a large pre-filled, sealed cup for $5 and it too, was delicious! Nice little Thai place with quick friendly service - ambiance is quiet and clean. Small place with 10 tables and a bar serving beer and wine. A subtle stream of piano renditions of pop and soft rock songs played in background. - it was a Monday so it was quiet with a few customers and periodic to go orders walking in. I was seated immediately by a friendly staffer. - menu had the usual assortment of Thai dishes ($15-25 seemed the range for entrees; a little more for the Duck). I asked for recommendations and the server suggested the Pad Thai. They had 6 levels of heat so I aimed for the 3. Chicken pad Thai came out piping hot only a few minutes after ordering. It came with a lime wedge, so I gave it a generous squeeze over the plate before digging in. The pad thai had a great combination of slight sweet and smoldering heat that lingered on my lips even after sipping on the rich, creamy thai iced tea with its decadent sweetened condensed milk. Amazing Thai food (I say that because I've been to Thailand, took cooking classes, and I feel good about giving that salutation). Moving on, the place was without customers but the kitchen was rocking - at least from what I could hear. Maybe there was a stream of takeout, maybe it was I visited before the dinner rush. Needless to say it was quiet (except for the kitchen clatter mentioned earlier). What I can say unequivocally is that I have been to several Thai restaurants in town but few met the bar. The restaurant is hidden inside a Plaza with a lot of other restaurants and has a smaller space so you may miss it if you aren't looking for it. It wasn't too busy inside when I came in but the place itself is cute and clean. I have been here a couple of times before and sometimes they sell out of their dessert products early so be aware of that. I ordered the panang curry which is derived from their red curry and I loved it. I asked for a 1 in spiciness but it was still pretty spicy so it may not be good for people who do not like spice at all. However, I liked it a lot! The rice portion seemed a little small but I was able to grab the soup as leftovers and bring it home to mix my own chicken for lunch the next day. So amazing every time! I have been here four times and it's always great! The ambiance is not anything special, but the servers are always so kind and the food is always yummy! I wanted to like this place, but my advice? There are plenty of Thai restaurants in and around Charleston... spend your money somewhere else. Green curry is a common item on any Thai menu and I have ordered it more times than I can count. However, I have NEVER been served green curry with so much oil floating on it! I used to go to this spot before covid when it was Wei Mei and always enjoyed it. Then Thai Elephants opened up and I just checked it out recently. Now that I've been, I'll definitely be going back. We stopped in mid afternoon for a late lunch or maybe early dinner. Due to the time, there was only a couple other tables seated. With Thai food, I normally have my go to favorites, but we decided to mix it up and share a few things instead... now I have new favorites. We started with the chicken satay and pork larb salad which were both packed with flavor. I loved the sauces that came with the satay and the larb was amazing. The restaurant is chill and clean. They have a lot of takeout traffic here. We were seated quickly and given menus. It was rainy so I was in the mood for soup. I ordered the duck noodle soup and my friend opted for the Pad Thai. The food arrived quickly, and the portions were huge. My soup was delicious, comforting, and filling. The Pad Thai was cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy but not overly wet. It was a nice treat to end our time in Charleston. read more

Bright, clean and welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress who immediately provided menus and beverages. The service at Thai elephants was over the top. One server took care of the entire restaurant and she was so eager to provide excellent service. She was actually running discreetly back and forth to the kitchen to get us all the things we needed. The food was fresh and delicious. The wonton soup was my favorite filled with fresh vegetables and pork dumplings. Thai Elephants will be added to my regular stops when in the area and I'm anxious to try some of the other traditional Thai dishes on the menu. Even factoring in the DoorDash tax, price was a dollar or two more than other places in the area like Lanna Thai and Thailicious. Food was decent but not amazing, but it definitely hit the spot. Pretty good as far as take out Thai goes. The high cost (this slender meal was $80 after tip & delivery fees) is what brought it down a star. It would have been about $10 less at Lanna Thai. The food was great. Tried 6 different menu items and all of them were very tasty and spicy according to preference. The serving amounts were abundant and take home containers were needed. We were pleasantly surprised by the final bill. Less than we expected for the feast we ordered. Can't figure out why it wasn't more crowded but we do tend to eat early. First of all, there are three Thai elephant restaurants around Charleston. Thai elephants 1 is befuddlingly NOT the first Thai elephants restaurant. The one in James Island is the original restaurant which is very good and should never be confused with Thai elephant 1 (the one in North Charleston). The one in North Charleston will not survive and it will go out of business very soon. My recommendation is that you never go to that location because we've been there many times and it is a DISASTER . The location on James Island is very good. We've loved every experience that we've had there so I am a big fan of that location; I have never been to the Summerville location so I have no comment on that one lol... read more

Been to the other location in Summerville and wanted to try this one out. This one looked newer and had more modern decor. There was only one server and she was really nice and although she had several tables she was very attentive. We had the pork dumplings. Yum! exactly what I wanted and hoped for. Dim sum style. Then we got prad king with drunken noodles spice level 2/3. It was the perfect amount of spice, flavors were on POINT. My only complaint was the noodles were touch over done and too soft. Hate to do this because you always want to support local restaurants but this was probably the worst curry dish I have had in my 40 years of living. The beef tasted weird like it was the cheap beef you get from the Chinese hole in the wall restaurants in New York. The Curry was decent not that it tasted like curry and wasn't that bad except it was saltier than the ocean water. Curry tasted like a dripped of curry was splash into there with other things and a bottle of salt was dropped into the mix. I am only giving this spot a 3 star because I haven't tried everything and the Thai tea was actually good. Service was quick and we had it to go. Will probably try one of the main dishes next time. I hope it will change things around. Hope to change my review after the next visit because I do know restaurant have bad days also like everything else. read more
