We visited Thailicious for dinner on a weekend night. Thailicious is a pretty small place, with a maximum capacity of 20-25 people. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming, and when we got there, the host greeted us and showed us to a table. We went through the menu and ordered the Thai Crispy Spring Rolls, the Tom Yum Chicken Soup, the Chicken Pad Thai, the Chicken Fried Rice with Basil, the Thai Iced Tea, and the Iced Taro. We got our iced teas. Both the iced teas were good, and it was a good start to our dinner. Then we had our soup and spring rolls. The Tom Yum soup was amazing! It was well-made, with good balance of spices and a combination of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors. Then we had the spring rolls, and they were crunchy and made with lettuce. They tasted really fresh and good appetizer to start our dinner. We got our dinner dishes, which were chicken pad Thai and chicken fried rice with basil. The pad Thai was a good dish with great flavors, complimented by fresh beans and scallions. The chicken fried rice with basil was a highlight of the night, we all loved it!The flavors were good, and the broccoli and carrots on top gave it a good taste. Thailicious is a hidden gem! They serve amazing food and the sweetest lady there always helps you with a smile on her face.

This is the first Thai restaurant I've tried since moving back to the greater Charleston area so please continue reading to find out my full thoughts! Located in a semi-sketchy part of town, Thailicious is in a strip mall but has carved out its own little nitch. It can be difficult to find a parking stop, depending on time of day but at least it's close to the main road. Moreover, it's a Thai focused restaurant which means the owners make their "bread & butter" off of Thai food, not like a Japanese restaurant selling hamburgers, if you follow the analogy. Finally I'll admit the only reason I chose this restaurant being so far away is they're the only ones serving yellow curry. None of the restaurants in Summerville offer it! Walking up to the doors, it's rather drab in appearance not that the exterior means much but just something to note. Once you walk in the interior is minimalistic but with a Thai soul. The reason I add this is I cherish authenticity and culture, especially in this streamlined and drab corporate style restaurants nowadays. I appreciate the statues of Buddha, waving cats, paintings of Thai life or art. There's something to be said about creating a Zen ambiance and feeling like you're in Thailand eating at a family restaurant. This facility gives a glimpse of it, staving off the feeling being generic Ok, enough about the looks it all comes down to the food. After my noting the inside and outside, I confess I ordered to go. The first item I sampled was the Gyoza pork. I got served 6 of what I felt were potstickers pulled from the freezer and thrown in the microwave, they were absolutely horrible. Now I'll admit my mother, who's not very well versed in Asian food loved them. I guess if your palate isn't as well developed, give them a shot. On to the main courses. The first offering that hit my lips was the basil fried rice w/ chicken. This was an outstanding offering. The perfectly cooked rice gave wonderful floral notes of jasmine but the basil permeates the whole dish, not overpowering but its presence is duly noted. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked with little nuggets of fried egg, wok sautéed onions and multi-colored peppers round out the effort. Perfect balance and harmony as it true with most Asian dishes. I admit my love affair for Thai food started when I was a line cook under a chef who was on Iron Chef. When we added Pad Thai to our menu 28 yrs ago, I never heard of it but I had to learn how to cook it. Needless to say, I ate Pad Thai for weeks, trying to master the complexities while enjoying the foreign offering. Thailicious has a wonderful version of the national dish (yes it's Thailand's national dish). The rice noodles are the perfect texture; like fettuccini not like the incorrect circular version some people use. The traditional addins of fried egg, green onion and bean sprouts are mixed in along with peanuts on the side. I got like 6-8 (I wasn't counting) plump shrimp which were perfectly cooked. I think it needed a touch more tamarind to kick up the sourness and more fish sauce to add that hit of brininess and funk. If those were elevated this dish would be perfect. As an aside my mother never had it before and really liked it. The last dish was the yellow curry with pork. The pork was cooked perfectly but to be honest the star is the coconut curry sauce and it was spot on however my mild was a bit spicy. The normal veggies are there like carrots, potatoes and onions although I wish I more of the potatoes and onions, but that's a personal preference not something to get in a twist over. Finally, the side of Jasmine rice, again cooked perfect and fragrant but I think they forgot my crispy shallots? Overall, I'm satisfied in my first Thai experience in Charleston. The staff are really nice and fast with your order in a clean environment. If you're a Thai fiend like me, a casual fan or someone who's never tried it, Thailicious will satisfy all your THAI cravings. Give it a try because you won't be disappointed.

I'm pretty sure it was the owner who took care of us, but she was so friendly and sweet. There was a handful of people that all came in around the same time so it got a little busy. She was still very attentive and checking on us. It's a pretty small place but intimate and welcoming. She had a lot of regulars because we could over hear her spewing off orders for people who just walked in and I think that's impressive! My husband is celiac so we knew the curry was safe but it didn't have a lot of other GF options. The tofu spring rolls 3/5 - I didn't expect there not to be any vermicelli noodles in it. So it was just crispy tofu wrapped with some veggies and the sauce was just hoisin. But I guess that's how they did it there. The green curry 5/5- had the perfect amount of spice, veggies still had a nice crunch to it. Pad see ew 5/5- large portion, grew texture for the noodles. I had plenty left over to take home. Taste wise for these two were great! Overall a great experience!

Back in town for business. Always stop in. Best Thai in Charleston. Warmly greeted and quickly seated when I arrived. Ordered the Spring rolls and Green Chicken Curry with extra chicken. The food was banging!

Wow, what a perfect date night on an extra cold Saturday. Warm, cozy, and inviting interior and friendly and attentive service. And quite an extensive menu too (looking forward to trying the sushi next time) so there's something for everyone. We couldn't pass up the crab rangoons of course which were fresh, nicely filled, and crispy! But the entrees were the highlights: pad see ewe and Tom yum goong noodle soup - omg. Both steaming hot and flavorful, especially the soup which majorly hit the spot and warmed us up and cleared out the sinuses. Thought we'd have leftovers but I was proved wrong by our appetites due to deliciousness!!

A great lunch spot! The restaurant is on the smaller side but the great customer service and bold flavors of the pad Thai are amazing!

Excellent food. Everything was so rich and flavorful. The service was fast. Defined the best Thai I've had around here and won't be going anywhere else from now on. Interior is on the small side though so if you have a larger party definitely call ahead. It's decorated really cute.

This place is a hidden gem! My partner and I love Thai food, and were visiting the area so we decided to try this place. It did not disappoint! The interior is so warm, inviting and so cute, and the food is not only beautiful but super delicious. It was the best Thai food we've had so far! And Pen, the waitress/owner, is such a beautiful soul. She is so friendly and attentive and so so sweet. She made the experience 100x better. We will 100% be visiting again soon!

This is my go to Thai restaurant and they recently added sushi to their menu! The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. I tried their new sushi offerings last time I went and I highly recommend! I love uni and this is the largest portion I've received in Charleston! The sushi chef was extremely creative! There's plenty of seating and the place is well decorated! This is a hidden gem in North Charleston!

This was our first visit, and we had a terrific time enjoying some authentic Thai cuisine. Everything was superb, fresh, and tasty. The dishes came out quick and were served in generous portions. The shrimp was plump and perfectly cooked, the veggies al-dente, the pasta, the seasonings, all combined to a very enjoyable meal. We got taro drinks with boba and a Thai coffee, some of the best I've ever had, I can see us stopping by for these drinks on warm days even when we're not hungry. But for sure, we'll come back, we want to try all their menu and soon to be available sushi options. Welcome to the neighborhood, Mrs. Pen and family. Thank you for your outstanding customer service!

I discovered the North Charleston Thailicious by accident. I frequent the West Ashley location, which is close to home. When ordering food on ToastTab, I accidentally selected the Dorchester Rd. location- and I didn't realize this until it was time to pick up the food. The lady who answered the phone was very nice. She put our food behind the counter and keep it warm for us until we got there- about 20 minutes later than our estimated pick up time. When we got home, the food was still warm. We both had the Pad Kee Mao, mine with tofu and my husband's with chicken. Like the West Ashley location, the portions are large, and the cooks don't skimp on spice. I also discovered that this Thailicious offers lunch specials on weekdays, a great option for those who work in the area. We were pleased with our food and the service, and I recommend Thailicious for anyone looking for Thai cuisine near Charleston AFB.

Ordered Pad Thai, Crispy App Sampler and a Thai Tea. Service was great and the ambiance was very pleasant. It's a small restaurant with good parking, easy access back to the highway. Everything was delicious.

This restaurant recently opened. Its family owned just over a year ago. It is family owned. Pen is a sweetheart! She is very customer focused. The restaurant is clean, orderly, and has good space between the tables. I ordered the Druken Noodles and Thai Iced tea. Everything was delicious! When you place your order, you can request how much "heat" that you want in your dish. Cash/Credit or Debit are accepted here. I will definitely eat here again whenever I am in town! Awesome job, Pen!

I started with the pork dumplings (gyoza), which were perfectly cooked tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. For my main, I had the Pho Thai Palm noodle soup, and it was outstanding. The broth was rich and aromatic, and everything tasted incredibly fresh and well-balanced. It's the kind of dish you keep thinking about long after the meal is over. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell they take pride in both their food and their service. My server was friendly, food came out at a reasonable speed but I could tell it was cooked fresh. I ordered chicken satay and chicken pad thai. The satay was nicely grilled and the peanut sauce had a good cilantro flavor to it. The pad Thai I ordered medium on the hotness and was a bit hotter than I expected medium to be (I'm pretty fine with spices but I had to blow my nose a few times after the meal). If you don't like spice, stick to the mild. Portion sizes were good, I walked out full but not bloated, but I didn't have any leftovers either. Price was a bit higher than it should be for this meal, but that's becoming an epidemic all over the area lately, food prices are going up much faster than anything else and far out of proportion to a paycheck. $38 after tip for an appetizer, basic entree, and water felt high to me. But maybe I'm just old and remember when a nickel could buy a house and need to start readjusting my price expectations. J.Ja
