This is a nice find. We went to Deep Ellum basically on a food mission. Okay, we had a place planned for the next morning, and we decided to visit the night before just for fun. If you give me a place with a "build your own hot dog" vibe, I walk in with HIGH EXPECTATIONS. The Angry Dog exceeded our expectations. Our experience started with "Hector's Poutine" which had the added intrigue of chorizo. They have a decent wine list, and I selected a glass of cab. I ordered my dog bacon wrapped with grilled mushrooms, grilled jalapeños, chili, and cheese. It was S-tier. My wife got the club sandwich, and it did not disappoint. Been a long time since I've been to the Angry Dog and it is exactly like I remember it. And why I love it. I used to live and work in Deep Ellum and I loved going to the AD. I've done the burgers and the Hot Dog, both are great. But the Fried Chicken Sub Buffalo Style is a damn good chicken sandwich. I haven't been here in 10 years and it is still great. Crispy bacon, fresh avocado, crunchy chicken on a crusty, but soft bun. It's freaking great. Tomato and lettuce on the side were really fresh. Great for dipping in the sauce. I ask for ranch and they always bring two. Great for dipping that sub into. It does come with a house sauce, but I actually like to dip my fries that I get fries. My husband and I met at the Angry Dog many years ago and it quickly became our go to for food and drinks. The staff is so very friendly and accommodating. You can pretty much do whatever you want with the menu (omit or add things) and everything is delicious!! It's very casual and a very comfortable place to be. A great place to meet locals. We no longer live in Dallas but make sure to stop by whenever we are in town. Last visit we ate there twice. First time we split the beef and chicken nachos with bacon on top (yes we added bacon) it was plenty of food for two. Next visit hubby had the spinach salad with grilled chicken and I had the burger and fries with a side of wing sauce for dipping. Their burgers are so simple which is exactly what I want sometimes- no frill just delicious burger. The wing sauce is house made, be aware the hot is HOT and I love it (in moderation ). Food was great I got a cheese steak it was great but, the service was absolutely terrible the waiter Ryan was very rude and pushy towards asking for a tip he said " I took off the drinks off the check so you guys can just tip me the money instead " then when the guy gave us the check he not only was very rude to my friend after he paid his check the waiter was very rude asking for his tip from him even though my friend was going to give him a tip with cash, soon after that same friend paid for my other friend he was very rude demanding that he should get a tip for that person aswell so he charged my friend 5 dollars even though my friend said that he was going to pay in cash, than that waiter took my check I gave him 100$ for me and my brothers check when he went away with my check he came back and told us that the friend card didn't go through 10$ so he decided that it was okay to charged me the 10$ even though he never asked me that I will allow him to charged me the money ,even though further checking through my friends bank account it was confirmed that he was charged the full amount, after that we confronted the waiter and said that he was charged the full amount the waiter went back and gave me my money and said " I will just pay the 10$ " he never paid the extra money back and I know that because when he gave me my money back he gave me 11.70 cents short so we told a very nice waitress to finally handle Ryan's bullshit after so the waiter Ryan gave me my money but not the full amount of course because this dumbass can't use a calculator he decided to give me 1.70$ short so in conclusion he gave himself his own tip and was very pushy to ask for tips from the other people joining my table , fuck you Ryan you should never be a waiter again if your gonna act like that. read more

This it is... The best burgers and hotdogs in Dallas. Not an exaggeration. Angry Dog has been a favorite for years and they never disappoint. If you look up "dive bar" online there might be a photo taken at the Angry Dog, It's about as basic inside as it could be with wooden chairs/tables, sports monitors, and a long well used bar. But somewhere in the back there's a grill made of magic, cause everything that comes off it is fantastic! Their burgers and dogs don't look unusual in anyway, until you chomp, then about half way thru the first bite your eyes glaze over and a burger brain fog slowly erases the memories of every other burger you had previously thought was good. On my Saturday afternoon visit I had a draft beer, their "Plain dog" (served open face). "The burger", and onion rings. Delivery was quick and their service staff is top notch. Bartender was solid, really good vibes for a Tuesday. The food was all around pretty good as well. The only complaint is that the servers confused themselves and left us waiting to be served for 45 minutes. I was extremely upset. I had to ask for menus and service ourselves after 4-5 other tables had already been served before us. Thankfully they got the food out quickly and it was delicious. Our server apologized. This little divey bar which happens to have a deliciously diverse selection of food and drinks is the perfect pre- or post-event spot. We have come here over the years and our most recent visit was just before the Royal Blood concert at the Southside Ballroom. I had The Natural which is a well-crafted vegetarian sandwich. I got it with tater tots, which came out hot and crispy. The sammie combo comes with ketchup and what seems to be a bbq ranch dressing. The service here is always friendly and super efficient. Angry Dog has been a family go-to for several years. As Upstate NY Natives, this might be the only place within two thousand miles to find Chicken Spiedies- and that was the draw. To be honest though? Everything on the menu keeps us coming back. We love the wings, the burgers, and of course, the hotdogs. This is one of the best burgers in the area, and they have the awards to prove it! Wash it down with a spicy Bloody Mary or a local beer, and Angry Dog is sure to please. It's bar food- this ain't no fancy joint, but every single bite is delicious! Parking in the area can be a bit tricky; your options are a paid lot, a parking garage, or metered street parking. Just be prepared to pay! Don't forget to make a trip to the Angry Dog bathrooms. That's worth a visit in itself. Be wary of big sporting events and local games when timing your visit. We've never had an issue sitting right down, but I'd imagine it's packed during peak hours and big games. The staff is nice enough and service is about what you'd expect. I was immediately given a menu and a glass of water which was awesome because it was so hot Angry Dog was right across the street from the Studio. Got to have dinner with a buddy of mine in Dallas yesterday and he picked Angry Dog. It sits in a pretty interesting part of town - lots of hip places as well as a lot of people you want to keep an eye on as you walk around. Angry Dog is as much a bar as it is a restaurant, and they have a great selection of beer. I had Guinness, which they had on tap, while my buddy had some sort of nasty IPA thing. (I've tried to like IPAs... I really have. Just can't do it.) I ordered some onion rings for us to split and the 'Angry Dog' for my meal. This is a hot dog served open faced with mustard and covered in chili, grilled red onions and cheese. It comes with fries and some pickle slices. The onion rings were good and so was the chili dog, even though I didn't finish it. The wait staff were mildly interested, so the service was a little below average. It's not often that I venture to Deep Ellum but when I do, you can guarantee I'll visit a great place to eat. Today we found this on Yelp and the reviews spoke for itself. Of course, my experience may be totally different so I have to see for myself. When you walk in it's such a warm inviting place but of course this was during the daytime. At night I'll bet it's action packed. The service was awesome! Right away as we sat down they got our drink orders and delivered within a couple minutes. We started with some fried mushrooms that came out quick and we're delicious. Then came my Angry Dog chili hotdog. Had to try the onion rings too. WOW!! It tasted better than it even looked. Death of a legend. I have ( had) been taking my now married sons there since they were very young. Vince and crew were family. The culture was so thick and rich bookers bankers, various workers of being old traders etc. cowboys and stars Frogs Irish. Food was so solid and consistent. Bartenders knew us so well. Got the chicken fingers. Garbage. I usually get the hot dogs/wings/or burgers. Tried to go off road tonight very disappointed. I'll stick to my usuals from now on. Service wish a little off tonight. Definitely felt a little neglected but I still tipped even though the service wasn't as good as it usually is. The ambiance is always the same.
