Arrived with a party of 6 on a Thursday night at 5:30pm.... maybe half the tables in the restaurant were full. After placing our order, we started to receive our food about a hour later. It took over 10 minutes for everyone to receive their food. I was done eating before the last person was served! The food was average at best. read more

Went here for a friend's birthday in February 2024. and it was my first time back after their remodel. It was winter so we didn't get to enjoy the outside area but I would love to come back and check it out. I shared one of the salads with a friend and it was so refreshing and delicious. We also shared the pesto chicken pizza which at first I was unsure about. It looks like it may have been too cheesy, but the flavor of all the ingredients in the pesto together nicely. We had leftovers and it was even better second day. A few of my friends ordered pasta dishes. I had stayed away from this given other pictures I've seen. They put so much sauce on the pasta that I feel like the pasta gets lost. When my friend's dishes came out, they did have quite a bit of sauce. If you're really looking for pasta, I would consider one of the baked pasta dishes. They looked pretty good and my friends said they were tasty. read more

It had been awhile since I've been to Angelo's and they did a remodel so figured I would update my review. From what I can tell, I don't think the menu content changed much, and that is NOT a complaint at all. Angelo's still remains a fun, local spot that has a family-owned feel to it. There aren't a TON of restaurants in downtown McFarland and this is still a great go-to option. Not really many other Italian spots nearby so it definitely fills a niche. Good service, diverse menu. I still love the mushroom ravioli and the pizza remains yummy. I had a Caesar salad for the first time and it was both beautiful and delicious. I guess the summary of my update is that it's still as lovely as it was before. It does look like they added some outdoor seating too which is nice for summer time! read more

Yum! Started off with calamari and bruschetta which were both tasty and the meat on the calamari was not skimpy. If I could critique each I would add more salt and seasoning to the calamari and add balsamic to the bruschetta. I had the Thursday Special - Lobster Ravioli. The red sauce on this dish was SO good. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals and the vibe here is very nice. They let my sisters do half/half on their pizza which was nice! It's often busy here but you can wait in the bar area and get a drink which is what we did to pass the time. read more

I really wanted to love this place. The food is mediocre and the bar wait for a table is always crowded. Store bought noodles, bland dishes, and I question whether any of the sauces are homemade. I have tried it a couple of times, so the lack of deliciousness certainly can't be chalked up to a "bad night." For Italian and any pizza, I'd skip McFarland head to Monona for some much better options. read more

I was Jonesing for a wedge salad and the internet said this was the place to go. Not only was the salad all I hoped for, we were surprised by this gem of a restaurant. The server was prompt and attentive. The blackberry old fashioned was wonderful and the pacing was just right. I had the Penne Bleu, deliciously loaded with ham, chicken and mushrooms. Angelo's is my Cheers of McFarland. If you want to go to the place "where everybody knows your name" this is it! The owners are super friendly and dedicated to the town. Every item on the menu is delicious. If Dan the bartender screws up your order they'll give you a coupon for next time. My only complaint about the restaurant is thats its so busy all the time! They even expanded their dining room and it's still packed every night and the parking lot is always full. So I've changed my mind... please don't go there, so I can get a table. ;) read more

Went there on 10/23 because we couldn't settle on a pizza place in Madison.. Glad we stopped here. We got the Angelo's Favorite, minus green olives. Half the success of a pizza is the crust and the bake. If you can't get those two things right, you don't have a good pizza. The crust was cooked just as evenly in the middle as it was on the edges, as was the top of the pizza. I'm guessing they have a great pizza oven. The pan they use might have something to do with it too. Whatever the case, we thoroughly enjoyed the pizza! The spinach and artichoke dip was a very tasty appetizer as well. Will definitely consider returning when we are in the Madison area again! read more

First time to this location in McFarland and worth it. Nice restaurant with outdoor patio. The service was excellent and with a few tweaks the food could have been as well. I got the baked cod that was perfect except it really need seasoning. Salt and pepper would have done it but it was bland and there was none on the table. I did have melted butter but still needed salt. The same with the baked potato. There was a potato choice for cheesy hash browns which I would have loved but I was told is made with onions, which I do not like. The white pizza which we have had before was just as good as we remember from the days when the other location on Monona drive was open. This would have been a five star rating without the under-seasoning thing and we loved the place. Good cocktails as well! Next time I'll ask for salt and pepper right away. read more

Friday fish dinners baked and fried Cod A+. Service A+. Ambiance A , noisy enough to make conversation difficult. The big problem I have experienced twice elsewhere in the past few years. A very nice restaurant. Not a full up house. Traveling as our group of four including two elders, a heavy elder person with a cane and another heavy elder. I'm done. Sadly I think I'm done. I used to love eating at Angelo's but no more. When I first ate there, their pizza was really good. Great tangy sauce. But over the years, that magic is gone. I'm not sure if the recipe has changed but it lacks flavor and depth. My daughter got the lasagna. Meh. I wish owners would taste their food more often for quality control. Add love to the sauce and don't be afraid of seasonings. But the biggest disappointment was the salad. I have ordered their wedge salad for years. Perfect generous wedge of iceberg drizzled with a decent amount of dressing and topped beautifully with crumbles and bacon. I don't know how to describe what I got tonight. It was a small wedge that was sliced thinly in 3 pieces and it was DROWNING in dressing. See the attached photo. I used to be able to get a bite of salad with almost no dressing that was a great palate cleanser. I could control how much dressing I got. There was no escape from this salad. And they just upped the price by $3. Decor was great and our server was very friendly. Just sad to say goodbye to a well loved staple in our restaurant arsenal. Angelo's offers online ordering for takeout, or curbside pick up, and dining in with limited seating. We dined in and felt safe doing so. All staff and customers were wearing masks. This place was busy with online orders, curbside pick up, and people eating there. We wait about 40 minutes to be seated. We ordered gourmet Mac and cheeses and garlic bread. The gourmet Mac and cheeses were so delicious!! They were so cheesy and filling! The garlic bread was ok. Their menu offers a variety of influenced pastas, pizzas, and daily specials. We were very pleased with our experience. It looks like they are expanding their building with more dine in seating and a patio. We look forward to going back! read more

We've been to Angelo's a couple of times and it's hit or miss on the quality of the food and service. Even on their best day, I don't understand how they have close to a 5 star rating. The pasta is nothing special (have honestly had better at Fazoli's) and the pizza is about as good as a nice frozen pizza. I really wish they were better because they are so close, but the restaurant scene in McFarland is seriously lacking, which is probably why they stay in business despite mediocre food at not-cheap prices. read more

This is such a cute quaint place with good food. They have really changed up the place and the additions look great, including the outside patio. We were just here for my birthday with 2 other folks. We did the Cajun shrimp appetizer which was great! Keep some bread to dip into the sauce. One of the biggest issues was the menus/specials don't match the website so don't assume you can get something you had planned on prior. We each had pasta. One a Louis, One a Cardiac, and one was a fettuccini. All were outstanding! We've also been here prior and know the ribs, lasagna, spicy bread, amongst other things are great. The only unfortunate thing was our waitress. She never said her name (which we learned was Marianne) she didn't ask if we wanted any appetizer, she didn't tell us the specials until we asked and then she was unsure, we asked what the difference was between Cardiac and Louis and her response was one was hotter (really?!), she brought out our food and didn't know what dish was what to go to the right person..the list goes on. Perhaps she was having a bad day, maybe she was new and is just indifferent about everything..but her service did not at all match every other waitress in the place. Everyone else was smiling, hustling, helpful, especially Tera. We will definitely be back as we have to try the pizza, and hopefully service will be better! read more

A small group (6 guests) had ordered a total of 10 items off the menu for take out. We had a few dietary restrictions for a few people. While Angelos doesn't have a large variety of ready to go vegetarian options or vegan options, they went above and beyond and were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Their menu states requests and substations can be made and they stick by that. We had requested a few veggies be subbed for some of the meat items, asked for the list of ingredients in a few sauces, and a few other requests. They were so helpful and didn't hesitate to meet our requests. The food was excellent and very hot when we received it. They have a wide variety of dishes in their menu and plenty of ways to accommodate dietary restrictions. We would definitely return to this restaurant for another great meal and would also recommend to anybody, meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. read more

I'm a little biased on the restaurant because we have spent way too many nights here. We seldomly sit in their new dining room because we love the feel of the cozy bar. Staff is excellent and always welcoming. Our favorites are the salads and if you love blackened Salmon you will not find a better preparation. Popeye pizza is also on our list of favorites. I had ordered takeout from here twice during the pandemic, which would have been during 2020, because they were offering online ordering. I tried the Key Lime Salmon, Popeye Alfredo, Wedge Salad, and Zuppa Toscana but it's extremely overpriced for food that's either burnt, overseasoned, or underseasoned. I was very excited to try this place based on the menu and reviews. I met a friend here for dinner tonight, neither one of us had been before. I was very surprised (but happy) to get immediate seating on a Friday night, especially since their parking lot was totally full. I really liked the cozy feel of the bar/restaurant. Our server was friendly and got our drinks out to us quickly. I ordered a red sangria and my friend ordered the white. They were SO good. The red wasn't too sweet at all and very refreshing. As for food... we started off with some clam chowder. It wasn't quite as thick and hearty as a lot of clam chowders out there, but it wasn't bad. I liked the French bread that comes with it, it tastes really good dipped in the chowder. For my entree, I ordered the fried cod with cheesy hash browns for the side, it also comes with coleslaw. The hash browns were DELICIOUS! Golden and crispy, cheesy but not too greasy. Just fabulous. The coleslaw was.. well..coleslaw. The fish unfortunately was a little disappointing, if I'm being honest. The cod came in 3 fairly small pieces (like chicken tender size). That's not a big deal if the fish was really good, but I actually struggled to finish it despite being really hungry. The coating was almost a little hard and kind of chewy? I don't know if those are the right words, but it just wasn't very flavorful and tasted overdone. The inside, however was slightly undercooked. The fish wasn't raw, but it had that tough bite to it as opposed to Being light and flakey. Despite the disappointing fish, I will definitely be back. This place has potential, and I want to try their pasta or pizza. Maybe I'll have more luck ordering Italian. read more

Good enough if you're in the mood for pizza (it's pizza baby), but nothing I am ever going to single out when I'm in the mood for good za. Unfortunately the food isn't very good & it is on the more expensive side. The pizza is ... wrong. I could've made the spaghetti at home just as well if not better. The pesto pasta didn't taste like actual pesto, more like "pesto inspired" and I feel like the sauce was pre packaged or frozen. I feel bad for saying it but it's how I felt.
