Wanted to go to a restaurant on Fathers Day that we had never been to before. Decided on Angelo's. There was four of us. Right from the start this place was just grabs you. Great service, outstanding food prepared with perfection. Bone in rib eye was very reasonably priced and, if I was on death row, this would be my last meal. If you haven't been there, check it out. My husband and I had been wanting to try this place for a while. We decided to go for our 5-year wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The only thing nice here was the waitress, very overpriced for what u get, food is horrible. I was just sitting there waiting for Gordon Ramsey to come out and tell everyone put down ur fork now! It was that bad, I ordered the grilled chicken with no seasoning bc of food allergies, when they brought my food out of course it had seasoning on it. By the time they brought out my chicken with no seasoning every one else at my table was done eating. Someone else at my table ordered the scallopini and it only came with 5 mussels and 2 scallops, how are u gonna call a dish scallopini with only 2 scallops? If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. This place is horrible and customer service is disgustly terrible. I ordered a steak and perch dinner from this establishment. I made clear I did not want any mushrooms on my steak due to a allergy. Notice mistake on steak after I left establishment. Called in regards to my issue and was told someone would call me back. no one ever called me back and when I called back the next day and spoke to the very rude owner I was told they could not refund me because I quote "he is not giving away a free steak and doesn't know what happen with the steak" mind you the owner crossed reference with an employee who remembered my order and my call and said I was telling the truth, I also offered to send a photo of the steak to show it did come incorrect. Owner tells me to bring steak back which is impossible since 1. Truck driver, in another state. 2. Had to throw steak due to not being able to eat it. 3. It's a day later, who would hold on to food for days they cannot eat??. I am appalled at the owner and their response. read more

My husband and I have been going to Angelo's for months. We go many times a week. Food has always been awesome. We went tonight, We ordered the French onion soup. Was delivered almost cold. We didn't complain. We figured it happens. I ordered the crab legs and asparagus on the side. Both arrived COLD. I told the waitress and she said " I don't know why that would be" and she walked away. When she came back I asked to speak to the manager. He and the waitress came to the table. I tried to explain that my meal was served to me cold. He immediately stated that he would not "eat" $120.00! He would not allow me to get a sentence out. He acted very defensive and unprofessional. He did offer to heat up the food for me however after his very negative behavior and seeing the dirty clothes he had on I declined the offer. We got there right when it opened as we were meeting some friends so it was not busy at all. The service was extremely slooooow and the waitress was not hospitable at all. Angelos has a nice atmosphere and staff working there. My wife and I ordered a Moscow mule, some fruity martini, and the creamy artichoke dip with pita chips to start. The drinks were good and quite stiff, my wife actually couldn't finish hers because it was too strong, but I finished it for her and liked it. The dip was okay, kind of like a creamy artichoke soup with vegetables. We then ordered the chicken Parmesan with house salad, and the porterhouse steak with clam chowder and mashed potato's. House salad was good with a nice ranch dressing (the kind you love to get at a restaurant), and the clam chowder was very good. Chicken parm was okay with pretty good breaded chicken, but the sauce has too much of something in it that we couldn't pinpoint, it just takes over the flavor of the sauce. This oregano or whatever it was actually made it so my wife couldn't finish the dish. I ate it the next day as leftovers and it's not ridiculously bad or anything, just not worth the money. The porterhouse was a good steak (I'd rather grill my own, but I can say that about most places), and the mashed potatoes were just regular and pretty bland. All in all, this was a good meal and a pleasant experience. This review makes it sound like my wife is very picky, but she isn't, this just wasn't her favorite place and we probably won't be back. The biggest gripe I have is the prices. This whole meal cost us $86 before tip, and I would have expected it to be $50 for what we received. There are much better options for the same price, and equivalent options that would've been less than the prices Angelos is charging. read more

My husband and I went for dinner last night with great expectations, after being referred by some friends. We were seated immediately, after maybe 10 minutes someone came around and took our drink order. It was very cold in the restaurant. A lot of people didn't even take off their coats! I witness the manager (possibly owner) take coffee beans from the grinder out with his bare hands! Only to take them to the bar and make 2 shots with them, which he did with a customer. He continued to sit at the bar and drink his beer and visit with customers. After 30 minutes our food arrived, I have to say the food WAS delicious. Overall, very disappointed! Monroe has been looking forward to a fine dining establishment. This one may need some work to get there. read more

The owners missed the mark!! We have been anticipating an upscale restaurant in Monroe for a long time! It still had the bob Evans feel the seating is horrible! They have uncomfortable chairs and they have crammed way too many tables in a small space. The poor servers look like the are running an obstacle course. First visit (yesterday) for anniversary dinner. Called earlier in the day for reservations ( 7 pm). Arrived a little early but was seated immediately, even though there were others waiting for a table. Mentioned to hostess it was our first visit and our anniversary. Got great attention by our waitress throughout the evening. All aspects of the meal were excellent. The only disappointment was we didn't see any listing on the menu for just spaghetti and sauce (which you would expect for an Italian restaurant, maybe we just overlooked it). However, all of the other menu items sounded great. We both had a seafood pasta dish. Serving size was plentiful and tasted great. Seating did not feel crowded even though the place was packed with people waiting. Service was attentive without being pushy or feeling rushed. With appetizer, a bottle of wine, and two main entrees, and tip, final bill was a little over $100. Don't expect to spend that much every time we got there, but wasn't too surprised. Comparable to what I would have spent at the other Angelo's down by Toledo. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

I just had one of the best dinners here that I've had in years. I met some work colleagues and we spent over three hours dining. We enjoyed the appetizers, the steak was phenomenal, and the dessert was enormous. The waitress serving us made us feel as welcome as if it was our own house. Angelo's Chop House is my favorite restaurant in Monroe, and one of my favorites all around. I've enjoyed a number of items during about 5 visits over the last year, and I was highly satisfied time and time again. The filet is amazing, and the surf and turf couples it with king crab legs that I prefer over the popular seafood chain down the road. Angelos is the only restaurant that can prepare a steak that I prefer over my own home-cooked steaks. The filet has consistently come out perfect. The bread has improved over the last year, and it comes out warm and soft. I've enjoyed an appetizer of saganaki on 3 visits. The lamb chops were amazing too. The salads come with an excellent combination of vegetables instead of being just lettuce with a few pieces of tomato and onion. The clam chowder and French onion soup are also excellent. I am looking forward to visiting again this week. I definitely recommend trying Angelo's. read more

I gave it 2 stars for 2 reason's. 1st our waitress Shannon was great. 2nd, my steak was cooked perfect. Onto the bad. I spent an extra $23, for 1 king crab leg. It was horrible. Came out very cold. At best room temp. Also the meat was so rubbery and you couldn't even crack the shell. taste was wayy too fishy. Had to put it in the hot butter just to warm it. Chicken parm very bad. Soggy and the sauce is totally RAGU. Extra for Cesar salad that was lettuce, kraft parm, and cheap dressing. Way over priced for bad food. Not even busy. Nice decor though. read more

Not many options in Monroe area so we tried it. Big mistake and should have just went to McDonald's, we would have probably liked it better. Waitress was friendly enough but, there were crammed together tables, dirty glasses, overpriced and the food was subpar. Bread tasted old, artichoke dip appetizer tasted like a bowl of warm Miracle Whip, shrimp was overcooked and rubbery, french onion soup very salty and steaks were tough and undercooked for what we ordered. Sent one back and it was still undercooked so ended up just eating anyway. Not much positive to say, but we will never be back. read more

And a bartender with a real bad attitude, and when we asked to have the lights lowered, the manager who was playing on his phone at the bar couldn't figure it out.. Have you ever wondered what it's like to go to a bar within a Bob Evans but also the same quality food as a Bob Evans? Look no further! Monroe has a got a little bit more Monroe with the addition of Angelo's chop house! When you walk in you're presented with the same decor and design as when it was the Bob Evans built in the 1980s. The center of the restaurant holds a gigantic bar with 8 TVs in an attempt to distract you from the mediocre food - well get to that later. The patrons of the bar are pretty normal, but the one that stands out is who I presume to be the owner. The younger looking guy was downing drinks. While I was there he had at least 3 beers and a shot. After ordering drinks, my date and I contemplated leaving due to the uncertainty of things to come but we decided to stay. Our waitress was very pleasant and did a great job... the menu was good in theory but bland and boring - not one original item on the menu you can't get at the TA across the highway. After eating and being full of regret after paying $130 bucks (I normally spend this much in Detroit but the restaurants are making original good food), I'll never go back there again. I got a steak that tasted good and was prepared to my liking, but every single steak comes the same way. If the prices for what you actually get werent so extreme, my review wouldn't be this critical. Angelo's is for boomers to go on their anniversary and that's it. Good luck! read more

We love this place. The rib steak is excellent. My wife adores the lamb chops. The appetizers, sides and soup are superb. Love the Calamari. The bread may not be particularly up scale but the portions are so large that you don't need to fill up on bread. The drinks are generous. The wine selection is very good. For beer lovers there are numerous drafts as well as bottled. When we and our friends go out, we go here. We haven't had a less than excellent meal hear and on the one occasion that a mistake was made, they made it right with a smile (or at least I think they were smiling under that mask). I only hope that they don't get so crowded that we can't get a table when we want one. read more

We have visited Angelo's twice. Both times we were very disappointed. The food was fine, but the service needs to be revamped and wait staff is in need of further training. The prices are comparable to Northwood Villa, but to pay that for an evening out, I expect more. I doubt that we will return any time soon. read more

The steak was ok but the other entrees we ordered were not good. The fried shrimp was not crispy but soggy and had no flavor , the calamari was chewy, the butter the sautéed shrimp was in tasted sour. Overall, we were not impressed. Will not be going back. read more

I had the filet mignon and it was incredible. Just like I had at Angelo's Northwood villa. My friend had the chicken Parmesan and he said it was awesome. We sat at the bar and our two bartenders were just wunderbar!!! So glad to have a new restaurant here at home. read more

My cousin and I went for a "mom's night out" excited that there was a steak house in Monroe! The hostess was super friendly and was able to get us seated quickly. We ordered our food when we first saw the server and it took 10 minutes after that to get drinks, 25 minutes to get our soup and salad and 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our entrees. The food was great- we demolished it because by then we were starved and then waited another 20 minutes after we finished our meal before the waitress came back- it then took her another 10 minutes to get the bill. Honesty, we were super disappointed by the service- it's a newer place so I expect kinks but when your paying $30 a plate the service should be quick. Well was referred here by a friend. Dinner n bakalava dessert for 3 was $140. Hostess was very rude and seemed like she didn't know what she was doing. Waitress was pretty good and she had a table w bratty kids making her job harder n pleasant whole time. Their basil house dressing is a bit strong. Hubby got a steak , come as huge cut, son got sea food sampler, u get 3 tiny pieces of 3 diff groups-fish, scallops, shrimp. I did a grilled chicken breast-everything is drizzled with an oil!! Even the seafood, steak was tough n drizzled in an oil my grilled chicken was so covered in the oil it was nasty I couldn't eat it. The guy sitting at table next to us got a big ole slab of meat for his dinner and he left over half of it barely touched side( which you only get 1 side w all entrees) his wife took home her chicken parm. I dud take home our leftovers -$160 barely touched coming w me, as for dessert 2 bakalava n cheesecake-which was prob from Gordon's n not from restaurant. The bakalava we were told is hand made by an older gentleman who uses a family recipe. These pieces were the size of the cheesecake slice if not bigger-ive only tried 3 diff bakas., 2 were about same- this one all I could taste was like clove, the nutty layer was so thick n wet w maybe clove oil I had no idea if the layer had been from nuts or what. -a good inch of mid layer the top "flaky" layers were good but a bit wet, I'm thinking he's losing a bit of recipe w having to make masses of it- but if you try it I'd share it with the table or at least your spouse, etc because it's so big. We did get a bread "basket" of Italian loaf cut into 1/4inch slices of 4 slices per refill-not free, not toasted or warm.Oh my son did like their Lobster Bisque soup! No croutons or anything w it so he used the italian bread n left over tortilla triangles from our appetizer (which was fine-spinach n artichoke cheese dip-enough for maybe 4 single servings-not enough to share w 3-4 people-$8 a cup. Tables are covered in white linen, carafe of filtered (not directly out of tap like others in area) ice water kept at table, which is nice! I'm sorry but we wont recommend nor return, we dont like huge servings of meat that's tough, drowned in oil, and skimpy sides drowned in basil oil too and to have a host roll their eyes and treat you like a burden as you walk in smiling at her.
