I was beyond saddened to inform the team after such an impressionable experience here, that my employer needed me in another location (state) for the next 8-12 months. My heart was dead set on Angeline, and Kathleen was absolutely wonderful. The building is flawless and that is a direct reflection of the whole team! I even ate at her highly recommended Island soul restaurant in Columbia City. The food was to die for. The vibe encompassed by Angeline and this vibrant pocket in Seattle is an experience I feel everyone is in search for, but does not always find. Disclaimer: this review is about the application and Leasing experience and my impression of the property's condition during my tour. TL;DR: Unless you can't afford a higher security deposit (e.g., $99 vs $400 would be too much financial hardship in upfront cost), go elsewhere. First, the one positive. Scarlett, my leasing agent, was personable and receptive yo answering my questions. And the art in the building is cool. That's it; those are the only positives. CONS: The building smells strongly of mildew and mold, more so in some areas of the building then others, but it is omnipresent. I loved the idea of the community and some of the features (e.g., cinema room, planting pods) that I chose to apply. For some reason, they don't let you apply there; they actually suggest you go next door to the library branch, which left me with some wifi concerns; I telecommute 2-3 days a week, so this matters. Oh, and none of the planting pods that they tell you you can rent are actually available to rent for personal use. Wish they'd been upfront about that as that was one of the reasons I chose to apply. The biggest con is the application process. Their system couldn't complete my application. It got hung up on the emergency contact page, so I spent multiple attempts and phone calls trying to complete. You'd think I'd have trusted my gut here, but, nope, still applied. Found something much better maintained, at a better price point, with better management, and a better availability date, and decided to be kind and yell Angeline I wasn't coming. Received the most condescending response from Assistant Manager Eric Christensen that, even though I informed them within 48 hours of finally receiving move-in information, but before signing a lease, that, "I'll go ahead and submit the cancellation, but since it's outside of the 72 hour cancellation period we are unable to refund your holding deposit." I honestly wasn't expecting it back, but wasn't going to say anything because I'm only out $124. But I'm guessing they must be in a pretty dire financial situation if they really need to keep $99 (the actual deposit) to release a hold on a unit that isn't available for another 24 days. read more

TLDR: Amazing team, beautiful property, but serious concerns about criminal activity against tenants by Security Properties, the management company. First, the good: Angeline is a beautiful building, beautiful location, and the best part is the staff: Eric and Tiare are wonderful and thoughtful. Kurt and Santa, who run maintenance, have consistently gone above and beyond. They are skilled, empathetic, and respectful. I don't know how much those four are paid, but there's no way it's enough -- they're absolutely incredible. Overall, I've been very pleased living here. However, I'm not able to give 5 stars because of the actions of the management company: There have been serious and credible allegations that Security Properties is part of a criminal price-fixing scheme against its tenants (Google "RealPage lawsuit" for a ProPublica investigation with more details). I've also heard from neighbors that recent lease renewals have been surprisingly steep. With these things in mind, I don't think I can, in good conscience, give the five stars that this building and its team deserve, but I hope I'm proven wrong. All of the staff at the Angeline Apartments - Kathleen, Eric, Skarlett, Adriana, Santa, Juan - are amazing and we're so thankful they are at the Angeline. The turnaround time from submitting a maintenance request to the maintenance team's arrival is always fast (within a day) which brings us peace of mind. Santa is knowledgeable and kind and we truly appreciate all he does for our community here. Kathleen and the office staff are welcoming and willing to talk when we come to the office with a question. Final update. I moved out on Friday, Sept 13, 2019. The property management had gone seriously downhill, replacing good management with distractions like cocktail parties and tenant mixers. What used to be a fairly high-end, concierge-level environment is now an overpriced frat house. I signed up for security and services, both of which were nonexistent by the time I left. 1. I moved in in August 2016 and for my first several months had no working washing machine and a backed up sink. By the time I left the maintenance / service staff was really great but those first few months sucked. The responsiveness was nonexistent. I could not use my kitchen sink and had to go out to do laundry - all while paying $1800/month. No restitution. 2. I had a $360 bike stolen from the buildings "secure" storage area - a locked cage. My bike had two locks, one through the wheel and one through the frame tied to a hook rack in the cage. The hook was blow-torched or snapped open. The door to the cage was undamaged. AT least one or twice a year there are bike room and parking garage break-ins. No restitution. 3. They have outsourced package delivery to a service called Fetch. The stated reason was that there was too much volume of packages for the office to handle. So, instead of changing the office staffing to accommodate tenants, they outsourced. I am not the only tenant who lost packages. I am not sure if I am the only one to which the office blamed Fetch and Fetch blamed the post office. The post office provided proof of delivery. $60 package of one-of-a-kind items. More "we're sorry" but again, no restitution. 4. Feel free to ask me about the threatening tenant next door in apartment 629 that I had to call the police and the local precincts community relations attorney about because the building did nothing even when she was confrontational with my guests and children (growling and taking photos of them in the elevator and throughout the building. 5. Between the stolen items (over $400 worth) and the times the appliances did not work I figure I am upside down several hundred dollars but guess what? The Angeline sent me to collections because I left a bed frame and a box in the apartment when I left. So if you are looking for free tacos once in a while and a LOT of platitudes about how valued you are, definitely move into the Angeline. If you want a professionally run building with a sense of accountability for tenant safety and security and respect for your belongings, check out the CityLine around the corner. You'll save a few hundred bucks a month, too. Despicable. read more

I want to thank Katheen B and her team for making my time at the Angeline special. You always greeted my dog and I with a smile and knew our names. You provided many different times for the residents to interact and get to know each other. They involved delicious meals and beverages giving us a relaxed atmosphere for meeting each other and becoming a community. You even had a food truck come so that although we were under covid restrictions, we could follow the social distancing guidelines and still have some delicious food and fun. You reached out to keep us informed about any changes. I met wonderful people who I miss now that I am living in Bellingham. The positive and the negative of living here at the Angeline as I see it: My apartment is attractive and more spacious than other studios I saw during my housing search. All the appliances work, there is plenty of storage, and the maintenance team has been superb at responding to any service requests. Overall, the public areas of the building are kept clean and well-maintained. The location is extremely convenient, especially for someone who chooses to go without a car. I love having the light rail, library, parks and PCC grocery nearby. The rooftop terrace with mountain views is beautiful, and I enjoy the 2nd floor garden where we can harvest fresh vegetables. The not so positive: Management sends out many emails to their "amazing tenants" but in truth they are very unresponsive to tenant concerns including lack of security, shocking rent increases, and utility bills that triple in the summer months. Office staff and management turns over at a surprising rate with no explanation, so there is little sense of community here. Noise from the street, from PCC deliveries, and from neighbors late at night can be intense, so you need to have a high noise level tolerance to live here. My apartment gets VERY hot in the summer and there is little airflow and no a/c, a flaw in the building design. I am not sure how the Angeline compares in value or management quality to other similar buildings, but I would say think twice before choosing this building as your next home. read more

I had a confirmed appointment to tour this building, with a confirmation email and text. I even received a very nice, personalized reminder email about our appointment. Obviously what I was receiving was part of an automated appointment system to confirm and schedule appointments, since when I got to my scheduled time, the office was closed due to it being NYE. The funny part of this is that I then received an invitation to review my tour online, which I did and even explained how I was stood up. I didn't as much receive an email or text message to follow up or even apologize. So glad I got to see their true colors, I'd never rent with a company that is so disorganized and unreliable. read more

I will start off by saying, I love the location and I LOVE my apartment. However, there are a few cons: Living near the PCC trash makes my apartment a little smelly. If the power goes out (which it has from time to time) the building is nonfunctional bc there is no back up generator. And unfortunately if you live close to PCC generator you have to hear its load roar (which shakes my windows) when the power goes out and every Tuesday morning for about 10 minutes or so while they test run it. The biggest bummer is the break in of cars in the garage that you pay to park in. As far as I know there has been no safety precautions from the building management, including NO cameras in the garage. Think twice before spending the money to park in the garage. read more

First off I really want to give this place a better review. The managers and front desk/maintenance group are just great. They are friendly and super helpful, I have never ran into a more respectful and competent group in apartment leasing. BUT....... I have lived here for 4.5 months and this building has something wrong with it. Perhaps sabotage? (just kidding). 1. Power has gone out THREE times for extended periods of time, in 4.5 months--what the hell? 2. Grocery store backup generator has no muffler and can be heard (when power goes out, and every Tuesday at 11 a.m. for 20 minutes) for blocks, and shocking, including inside your apartment. 3. Water was shut down for THREE days to entire building--hope you know how to hold it... 4. Internet in the common areas is average, if it works at all.... Overall, having the power go out once or twice in a 2 year lease is no big deal, but 3 times in 4 months, there is a trend happening here. The power situation and other infrastructure issues really put a damper on this place for me. Nothing like waking up to 110 decibel diesel generator right out side your window, no power, no lights, no breakfast, and all your food slowly going bad in the refrigerator. Top it off with having to run to work before 6:30am; and hopefully you can see why I cannot give this place more than 3 stars. I would think real hard before renting here, make sure your ready for the inevitable break-down, and hope it does not last days. Overall, for the amount of money everyone pays here, the power should be always working, the generator should be quiet, and the internet should be insanely fast in the gym...just my 2 cents. read more

Like previous reviews state, management is awful - stay away. I am a current resident of the Angeline and after three years, have finally decided I've had enough. The fellow residents, property, location, and some of the maintenance people are pretty great, but the onsite management has become so awful to deal with as to outweigh all of these factors. As a long term resident who has always been a good tenant, I have watched with dismay as the recent management finds more and more ways to wring money out of residents while offering less and less of the amenities and services we signed up for when we moved in. My rent has regularly increased by 9% every year - just below the legally allowable city limit. When my a group of fellow residents complained about building-wide issues such as recurrent overbilling for utilities, management gave folks the runaround for months and then sent people to collections as they tried to contest the clearly incorrect charges. Random new charges appear on our bills without explanation or recourse (e.g. we are now charged each month for the privilege of receiving packages...!). And, according to a number of current and departed tenants, management habitually threatens legal action even when clearly in the wrong. I believe this is because they know most tenants are not equipped to fight them in court. And any meaningful assistance for people impacted by COVID? I have a serious love hate for this place! I love using the amenity spaces (when they are working) all of the amenities have NEVER worked properly, theater room to the lounge. Fire alarms go off throughout the entire apartments when you open the oven for God sake! So I cook food in my apartment and just bring it to the lounge and NEVER turn on the fireplace. I honestly don't even know how you turn that thing on. And forget trying to use the TV in the theater room! Luckily my boyfriend works in IT and gimmy rigged it to work for me. He could fix the damn thing himself! The call box works here and there when you are buzzing up your guests. I push the button 5 times just to be sure. **The theater room tv does work now after living here for almost a year YAYYYYY!** complete sarcasm! Not the mention the COMPLETE lack of communication between the staff and residents. They recently switched out managers, etc. They are all nice but they still are not following up! I asked about utility bills literally DOUBLING the average amount we paid and have yet to receive a straightforward answer. This month we received "credits" my sewer bill alone with this so called credit is the TOTAL COST of what my entire utility bill use to be! No body ever has any answers! There has been construction going on in the garage for idk the past month or so. Every time I have asked they told me oh just another week, and another week and another week! Now I have to move parking spots because they will be finished up this week, but I wouldn't hold my breath. These are just a few of the many issues with this place! Garbage smells constantly, neighbors move furniture at all hours of the night and day above us, PPC parkers are ridiculous! Getting through just to get to the resident garage entrance is a daily struggle! Cigarette buds found their way to my balcony (non-smoking building), elevators & fobs don't always work you'll swipe for your floor and the elevator goes no where. I often scan it multiple times so I don't ride the elevator all day. Amenity spaces are never cleaned, I bring my own cleaning supplies to clean up after myself and I leave it cleaner than I receive it! Hot water doesn't always get hot except in the shower. I was so excited to move here originally it was our first time living in a brand new community/apartment and now I literally cannot wait for my lease to end!! If you can live anywhere else I would. For the amount we pay each month on top of my growing utility bill I would live somewhere else if I were you! Can't even imagine what ridiculous things they will charge us for at move out! read more

Everything being said about this place is spot on. They could care less about tenant safety, closing the rooftop to pets for renovation during the winter. I got the story that the weeds and unkept lAwn area was due to the dogs. Now it's venturing out in pitch black where beggars ask for money, homeless sleeping in the doorways, and you're left on your own. They have no provisions for letting someone come in to take care of your pets, short of giving up your keys. In that case, you yourself are locked out until you can get your keys back. They say they are open 7 days a week but they will randomly close the office for their luncheons and meetings and staff parties. Of course now it's impossible to find anyone. If the weather is bad, they close down and literally tell you to let your pet sitters know they can't come in. My pets can't go a full day without being taken out or fed. The appliances are pathetic. The washer door leaks. There is mold. The windows don't close completely and watch out for debris they sweep off of the rooftop that lands on your balcony. The parties are so loud you can hear them three floors down. It's not unusual to see 50-100 people drinking and partying. The gate to the parking was broken and so you were either stuck in the garage or sent off to find parking on your own. Word of caution too is don't sign up for auto payments. They have messed up the bills and charge you a fee to generate your bill. It also turns out that my dog developed severe allergies here to the tune of $500. I've moved out and he has cleared up as have my allergies. Possibly from the black mold they ignore. Be aware that when you move out, their 7-day policy of sending you the final bill is bullshit. It's been nearly 3 weeks with the only notice asking me to sign off my deposit to outstanding fees of which I have no clue. I reached out to corporate with no response which explains why they keep on an incompetent manager. Good luck on your apartment hunt! In response to Angeline .... no one addressed the black mold around the dishwasher door and I was never instructed about the soap. I never used it!! I never received my bill either. This building/community is fabulous! The rent is competitive within the neighboring market and I love the amenities they offer! The roof top patio is a huge plus! It's unfortunate that some of the tenants feel it's ok to let their dogs relive themselves up there and not clean up after them. Granted this is not a management issue, this is a lack of a few tenants respect/care of a shared space. When I have contacted the office with any questions or concerns, they are quick to respond and more than willing to assist. Coming from a property management background, this is greatly appreciated! Especially during a management transition! We all know transitions are tough and sometimes things can fall through the cracks but that's not the case here! Overall I give this property a 5 out of 5! It's odd to see some of the reviews on here are so negative when I have had a completely different experience. Granted a lot of complaints are more likely personal issues that aren't due to management or the building itself. More along the lines of not being smart with your packages, property, neighbors, etc. please don't let the haters steer you away from wanting to live here! After living here for six months, my original feelings have been confirmed. Questions are not answered, no response is given to inquiries. There are a couple of people in the office Who are responsive but the majority are just shining you on. At this time the sixth floor common area is unusable. There is also something going on in the garage that has been in progress since I moved here. The garbage chute smell bad, exterior lighting is poor, And not all entrances are functional at all times. The appliances are junk. Many people have given up on trying to use the media room because the equipment does not work. The rents are high here, but fortunately new units will be coming online in the area in the near future. read more

I have been living at Angeline for almost 3 months now, and I have loved it, yet simultaneously been irritated the whole time. The apartment is great, I have a studio and it's bigger than most you'll find in the city. I have a washer and dryer in unit as well as a dishwasher, and a kitchen with more storage cabinets than I can even use. Rent is very expensive, especially more so to pay for parking and having a pet. The "secured" parking garage is not really secure. Anyone from PCC could easily get into the garage with a bit of patience. There are no security cameras whatsoever, multiple break ins have been reported, and management took very little action on it, except from saying "we spoke to the police." Seriously, you'd think a building this new would have better security than that. I moved into a brand new apartment that hadn't been lived in before, and upon moving in, found that the dishwasher was broken. Maintenance came in several times, each time telling me something different is wrong. It took just over 2 months for them to finally fix the problem by just giving me a new dishwasher. All in all, I have a love/hate relationship with Angeline. When they do things right, it couldn't be better. But all the cons are starting to outweigh that. read more

Clean and nice apartment. But every weekend there will be this crazy party or family gathering or musical concert going on 6th floor lounge. When that happens you won't be able to even listen to your TV. All you need is good headphone with noise cancelling function on it. I have lived at the Angeline for almost a year now and I have virtually no complaints about this property. The staff is extremely friendly and always willing to assist. I currently live in a studio apartment with a full size washer/dryer (surprise surprise) and though I would like the rent to be a bit lower I can't complain too much. I have not had many issues with appliances in my apartment besides my microwave which maintenance took care of promptly. Parking is a bit expensive, luckily I caught a special but I would like to see the price of parking come down a bit considering rent and utilities. building security is pretty good, cameras in the garage and side entry by PCC would be GREAT. All in all, if you're looking, Angeline Apts should be on your list of properties to visit. read more

Living at Angeline has been awesome! The furnishings are beautiful and you can really tell they put in the extra effort throughout the building. Our apartment has tons of large windows with nice views. The amenities are really nice including the awesome (and huge!) rooftop deck with a greenhouse, grills, fire places, lounge chairs etc.. as well as a nice gym, bike storage, computers, lounge areas with a kitchen, a dog wash area, herb gardens, and a theatre room. Not only is the building itself awesome but the staff are great. They are so helpful and friendly and just fun people to hang out with. The apartment puts on frequent events that are a fun way to meet the other residents. The location of the apartment is great as well. There are lots of good restaraunts, shops, and parks walking distance. Another thing that has been really helpful is that the light rail is walking distance so you don't have to worry about parking if you are going downtown or to the airport. The neighborhood is friendly and diverse. A few blocks north or south of the apartment on Rainier ave is a little sketchy, but I have never had any safety concerns walking around the couple blocks around the apartment. Also having PCC is below us is so convenient! Only negatives is that the traffic on Rainier Ave is a bit loud if you are facing the street (however the windows are good quality and muffle it quite well, but a fair amount of sirens) and parking is kind of expensive if you choose to use the garage. read more

Best part is there is a really great cross section of age & ethnicity, from retired elderly, single moms and dads with young to older teens, recently separated, couples. Nice and Clean apartment with fatal flaw. I'm living on 6th floor, right next to big lounge area. I can see a good intention of apartment side to let its resident enjoying group activity with this big lounge area. But there are Three big problems: 1. Big and extremely loud group activities happening every week on this lounge (So far I've seen B-day party, Baby shower, Wedding rehearsal, Concert with musical instrument, and crazy College night party etc.) 2. Apartment unit wall would not block this noise... 3. Management would take forever to fix this problem. Honestly, when 50 to 80 people are gathered with 5.1 surround music, I can't even enjoy my TV shows on my couch. I've been having hard time sleeping and with lack of sleep, this issue has been completely ruined my following work day multiple times. If this building was built as community center, I would understand this. But for god's sake, this is residential area, and even lease contract clearly says this area meant to provide us peaceful environment. Of course I did complaint about this issue on second week that I moved in. First time management gave friendly warning to people who reserved lounge area on previous week. then.. same problem happens again on following week. I made complaints over and over again. But nothing caught management people's attention until I posted my first honest review on apartment review website. It took 2 and half month to bring a single Acoustic person to investigate this problem and I still haven't any answer yet. Apartment side also recommended me to move to the other unit located on different floor. But it is easy to say.. Moving is not easy for everyone. It takes time, energy, money, extra day-off from work etc. I requested for partial refund of last two month's rent in order to compensate those Miserable hours that I spent and also to cover my future moving cost. But Management side's answer was "No". Nothing further. I think it would be hard for them to actually understand the gravity of problem. I really wish they were here in my unit when I was experiencing 'Hell' with unstoppable noise, kicking, and screaming through that thin wall. I'm not sure when this issue would actually get fixed. But if you are moving into 6th floor of this apartment, know what you are getting. read more

We just moved in a little over 2 weeks ago and we are EXTREMELY happy we chose Angeline. The staff is wonderful - they always greet you with a smile and oogle over my two dogs. Our apartment layout is spacious, bright and has plenty of closet storage. My favorite amenity is the pet wash station, it has already come in handy a few times! I could go on but I would just be echoing the great reviews other tenants have listed. If your looking to move to CC then choose Angeline! read more

Not impressed by the Staff or the apartments very overpriced and poor customer service

In agreement that the utility bills are outrageously high considering the fact that the city of Seattle's residential rates are less than half of what Angeline is charging residents. One review mentioned breakins/burglaries, which in my view is an inside-job, committed by persons holding master keys. Also, dumpster overflows, unsanitary common areas are the fault of the maintenance staff. You'd think that the property owners would be concerned about these problems since the longevity/aesthetics of the building is dependent on ongoing cleaning, or just sheer-real maintenance. read more

Nice apartments, nice workout room but lackluster management. We've hosted several parties in their common area and it's been dirty/incomplete every time. Also they can never manage to link the floor correctly so when having an event it's usually a huge pain. Fireplace in the common area is not to code and has open flame, sets off the fire alarm. I have lived at Angeline for about a year now, and the experience has not been great. The location is wonderful, and the apartments themselves are nice. However, the staff, their lack of communication and organization skills, and their inability to address any issue I've experienced, are really unacceptable. I did receive a "discount" on rent upon moving in since they were obviously trying to fill the building, but I hope no one is actually paying the $1600 for a 500 square foot studio that my renewal lease would have been. Though I have tried to give staff the benefit of doubt as they individually seem like nice people, since I have moved in the building has gone through two managers and nothing has improved. At this time, I believe the person who was tasked with cleaning the building moved on and the building is pretty disgusting. None of the maintenance requests I submitted were ever resolved let alone responded to. The grills and the fireplace on the roof barely ever work. I'm not sure the fireplace in the shared kitchen area ever worked. These amenities are why I chose the building over less expensive options, and I feel like I have been fleeced. I never got to enjoy the things that attracted me to the building. Finally, though it is not necessarily the management company's fault, PCC shoppers are the lease considerate drivers and parkers I have ever been around. I'm surprised no one has been killed in that parking lot yet. Overall, I wouldn't recommend living in this building to anyone who can afford to live elsewhere, and with Angeline's prices I'm fairly positive anyone who can afford to live there can do better.
