(3) The leasing office refused to take responsibility, claiming that they don't have any obligation to ensure the community's safety. I'm a state worker making over six figures and have an excellent rental history spanning about 20 years and about 800 credit. I'm the person who gives the apartment back clear than I got it. I'm the zero drama landlords dream. Until this week I've never encountered a team so obviously unprofessional and sketchy. From the rooms not being clean enough to show to the application process, avoid at all cost. The amount of vacancies a complex of this size has is also a red flag. Anyways, I provided paystubs showing 3 years of continuous employment. They insisted on paystubs from more pay periods despite there being year to date totals on them. There was some third party service that they use, which they neglected to send me a link for. They then insisted I send bank statements to prove my income because I had not run the service they failed to connect me with. Weirdly the were several other emails on the chain and it looked like a group email asking people for their financial information. That felt very sketchy. They ignored my questions for about 24 hours until I told them I was no longer interested in the apartment. My choice to withdrawal interest is because of the lack of professionalism and it seems the align with the reviews I see on here that suggest they don't take accountability, shift blame to tenants when things break, are unresponsive etc.... They have refused to refund the application fee, which is a whopping 65 dollars and not actually disclosed until the last page of their clunky and onerous web application. It's a big red flag when companies don't take accountability when they provide subpar service and respond with defensiveness. I hope to give people this information so that they know that the application fee is excessive, the process obnoxious, the staff unresponsive, and management inflexible and unaccountable. When I told them that I was no longer interested and they told me they would not refund the fee, they continued to try and convince me I was wrong and that they were actually professional. Yikes! What a red flag. Avoid this group at all costs. in 20 years of renting I've never seen so many red flags in such a short timespan. I'm not an avid reviewer but I truly feel prospective tenants need to know what they are getting in to before moving into Stream Uptown. When I first moved in (Feb 2013) the leasing manager Sherry was amazing! Willing to do anything and went above and beyond. However, I think all the complaints from residents about ongoing issues with the building wore her down and she moved on. (this is speculation of course)... The new management is completely unresponsive, you can send email after email and they go unanswered. I try my best to talk with the new manager in person when she is available, while she is really nice, she is just as unresponsive. I understand that a new building will have it's issues but this place is unreal. I have experienced more power and water outages, fire alarms and street closures than all the places I've lived in the past, combined. What's most frustrating is there is next no advanced noticed. I honestly wouldn't have written a review about the petty things I mention above had today not happened. I got home after work on a Friday and my entire unit smells like the toxic sealant they are installing in the trash room (I live directly above the trash room). I immediately went to speak with the manager to express my concerns about having to deal with the smell and was told that they would be spending 3 days putting new sealant down. The manager told me she had to deal with the smell in the office all day but did not offer an apology nor acknowledge the fact that there was zero notice. She told me I could open my doors and she would be willing to get a me a fan for my unit as a solution. It's 40 degrees in January... While I am definitely disappointed by the lack of logical solutions, I'm more upset that I was given no notice to at least allow me to plan accordingly. The convenience to the grocery store is great but that is honestly about the only positive review I have for this place. I will happily take my money elsewhere when my lease is up. read more

First and foremost, this review is from November 2013 to January 2014. I am a pretty tolerant person but the situation that not only myself but other residents were put into here was not good or easy to deal with. When I first was looking to move to Seattle back in April of 2013, I had to do all my research and viewing via the web. A lot of apartments in Seattle did not take to this well, however, the leasing manager at the time, Sherry, was fantastic, easy to deal with, always replied to me and went above and beyond her duties to assist me. Sarah also worked in the office and was the same as Sherry. They were a great team and set the bar high for future managers. However, once the majority of the building was leased, Sherry and Sarah both left to tend to other properties. The new manager, Michelle then came into play and everything changed. I happened to be in one of the units that did not have a proper heating unit and my apartment was well below legal city limits for winter, even though I was blasting my heat above 80 all day every day. I tried to address this issue with the management team, but sadly I was not replied to for a few days and told "good luck and stay warm" for over the weekend. This is an issue that needed to resolved right away, since it was an uninhabitable place. Eventually, I was able to break my lease and not pay any early move out fee since they had broken their agreement. I am not sure how the building is doing now or who is managing it, but, until I got the parent company involved there was no action. read more

Lived here from ~November 2014 to July 2015 at which point I moved to Ireland for 3 months. At that time, the building was called "Stream Uptown" and was managed by Greystar. The overall experience of living there in an "open one-bedroom," was mostly great.. while I lived there. Read on. Thankfully, my unit (#601) was not effected by water damage when a cigarette-butt fire on the roof was put out (~February 2015?). The exercise equipment in the "gym" was constantly broken. My bike (and the bikes of many others) were constantly stolen by folks who would walk in and out of the garage door unabated. One morning a notice informed me that someone had stolen a wheel off of one of the cars parked in the garage... The real nightmare began when I left the apartment and moved to Ireland. Despite having my email address, phone number, and Irish forwarding address AND me having forwarded my US mail to a family member in the states, Greystar managed to fail to inform me of that I was being charged a 300$ 'cleaning' fee. Upon my return to the US 3 months later (~November 2015), I began to receive calls on the daily, at all hours, from a collections agency demanding the money. Not only had I left the apartment spotless, but when I'd moved in, they had offered to paint an 'accent wall' a color of my choosing. I immediately went to speak with the building manager. I was told that the majority of the majority of the 300$ fee (270$) was for necessary repainting of the apartment and that only the owners of the building, TIAA-CREF, could revoke the collections notice. After many phone conversations and even a visit to the Seattle TIAA-CREF office, I was eventually told that no one at the bank had the slightest idea who I would need to even speak to about getting the collections notice revoked-- but that I should return to the building manager and ask him... Classic you asking them to ask them to ask you runaround nonsense. When I returned to the building, I was informed that both: the building was no longer managed by Greystar and that the Greystar employee who HAD managed the building, no longer worked there or was even employed by Greystar... I was forced to pay. The 'cleaning' fees plus interest. Fast forward to now (June 2016) and this Greystar/TIAA-CREF incompetency is still effecting my current apartment applications (via Moco). And contributed to obliterating my credit score. Beware of keeping your car here, beware of the buildings ownership, beware of the crappy practices of which-ever management company can now pass the bureaucratic buck to TIAA-CREF without any obligation to tenants, past or present. read more

So I've lived in three different apartment complexes in Seattle and I cannot tell you how happy I am with this place. I was really skiddish with the outdated reviews that tore this place apart but I took a leap of faith due to new management (Sandra) and it was the best decision. I wish I would have moved here 2 years ago! Anything I need done, big or small, gets taken care of and the place is REALLY nice. The old reviews are just that, old. We moved into Stream Uptown in June 2013. Being first time apartment renters, we were extremely please with the lack of noise from our neighbors (we are on the first floor). The rooftop area is beautiful and well maintained. The staff gets an A+ from us! Anything that needs maintenance is tended to in a matter of a couple days. We had an issue with our dog not coming out from hiding before we left for work one day. I called the management and asked if it was at all possible to go in and check on him. She quickly went to our unit, the dog came out from under the bed and she tucked him in his crate! Amazing! We absolutely love it here! read more

I lived here for 4.5 years, and overall really liked it--I simply moved because I was leaving Seattle. There were a few up and downs as staff came and went, but the most recent staff of Laura and co. has been great. They were very transparent about the move-out process (small cleaning fee that was actually a benefit since we didn't having to clean), but we received the majority of our deposit without any hassle. It doesn't have quite as many amenities as other "luxury" apartments, but the rooftop and gym are very nice and the majority of what you need from an apartment. It is expensive but that's life in Seattle, and you really can't beat the location, especially if you're new to town and wanting to be somewhere central. I lived here for one year and decided not to renew my lease due to an apartment fire that directly affected my unit and cost me dearly. Management and maintenance staff are very nice, and of course the fire was not their (or my) fault, but don't expect anything more than the company line when it comes to fighting for your tenant rights. Little effort was made on management's part to relocate me while my unit was renovated, which took a whole month. I have been awaiting insurance approval amongst other legalities for 9 months now. I always have a difficult time when posting negative reviews. I never like to do it and I always like to give companies the benefit of the doubt, however I would feel bad if anyone signed a lease at this building without knowing what they are getting into. The first 7 months that I lived in the building were absolutely wonderful. I loved the managers Sherry and Sarah. They were responsive when I reached out to them, and they both were willing to go above and beyond to make living at Stream Uptown a true joy. For the first few months living here I was sold that I would stay at this property for years, I had never enjoyed a community more. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. Sherry and Sarah both moved on to other properties within Greystar. Greystar is truly lucky to have employees as dedicated and skilled as them. After they left we got a new property manager named Michelle. Shortly after Michelle came on board I began having issues with the heaters not working properly in my apartment. I would have the single heater in the apartment turned up to 85 all day but due to the winter weather the temperature in my apartment did not rise above 50 degrees. I contacted Michelle about it, and they installed something on my door so air couldn't blow through it anymore. I followed up with Michelle stating that I was blasting my heat at 80 + degrees and it was still registering below 50 degrees. (I don't know how cold it actually was because my thermometer didn't go any lower than 50). Michelle informed me that it was a design flaw in the building. Even though Michelle told me the new heaters would be there that Monday, they weren't. Tried to follow up with her that day but didn't receive a call back after my voicemails or a response to my emails. The next day she emailed me saying sorry that she was out and that the heaters would be installed on Wednesday. At that point I had not been staying at my apartment because I had gotten sick from staying in the cold, and was worried that I would get even more sick. Since she said they would be installed Wednesday, I went to my apartment on Thursday only to find out that the new heaters were still not installed. I emailed Michelle again and received no response. Still not hearing from her I emailed her again the next day. No response. Emailed her yet again on Monday and FINALLY heard back. She claimed she had called and left a voicemail on my phone on Friday. I had never received a voicemail or a missed call, and I was not having any issues with my phone. I figure she lied to cover her lack of response and urgency to my serious issue. One note, the city of Seattle mandates by law that all residences be outfitted so that they are at a livable temperature. Title 22 - BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION CODES Subtitle II - Housing Code Chapter 22.206 - HABITABLE BUILDINGS SubChapter VI - Duties of Owners and Tenants 22.206.160 Duties of owners Maintain heat in all occupied habitable rooms, baths and toilet rooms at an inside temperature, as measured at a point 3 feet above the floor and 2 feet from exterior walls, of at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. and 58 degrees Fahrenheit between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. from September 1 st until June 30 th , when the owner is contractually obligated to provide heat. I currently pay ~1,500 a month in rent and parking - no small sum of money for anyone. I thought it only reasonable that at a minimum I would be reimburse for the days in which my apartment was deemed legally unlivable by Seattle. I requested this and was told that nothing would be done to reimburse my rent. I said that I would then be moving out and asked if they would waive the move out fee, same response...you owe us that money too. I am being forced to pay money to leave an apartment building which is legally uninhabitable. Finally, out of options and not being able to live in my apartment for weeks I gave her my 20 day notice to move out. Seems like I will most likely be contacting a lawyer to deal with that process since she is still extremely unresponsive. Looking back at my email chain with her over the last few weeks I counted and I had sent her over 15 emails and received only 4 responses from her (Most of them not answering the questions that I had asked in my previous emails). All with multiple days between them, and only after I had sent her multiple emails did she choose to respond. Her lack of communication and professionalism while dealing with my issue was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I have spoken with other tenants at this building and many are having the same troubles with Michelle that I have been having, and will also be either terminating their leases early or moving out at the end of their leases because of her. read more

I hate writing bad reviews, but I cannot allow unsuspecting renters to enter into a lease here without being warned that a pretty façade does mean that all is beautiful inside. When I first moved in, June 2013, I loved it here. Sherry and Sarah were great to work with. The building was beautiful and the neighbors were friendly. Over the past six months, things have gone progressively down. On-site management has changed multiple times. They no longer know their residents. The noise is terrible, loud talking and shouting in the hallways at all hours of the night due to the large number of young residents, often 3 people living in one small unit. Parking was and continues to be a nightmare, even at $125 per space. The building has numerous design flaws that go unaddressed. If there is a maintenance complaint for one unit that applies to the entire building due to design, they fix it in that unit only, instead of fixing the issue throughout the building. Late fees for rent begin if not paid by the 3rd as stated in the lease, regardless of holiday or weekend and they request you use their online portal to pay. DO NOT BE LATE. However, the portal is never updated with current rent and water charges. It is your responsibility to calculate how much you owe as you have access to your water bill and your lease contains your rent amount. I can totally understand it being my responsibility, however, it is their responsibility to keep their end of the deal and update the portal accordingly. They attempted to use Active Building and for a while and really pushed all residents to register, it worked well, until one of the new "leasing professionals" decided they didn't have time to deal with the packages. Previously all packages were left in the office and you received electronic notification either via text, email or notice on the Active Building electronic bulletin board in the mail room. Now you cannot be sure if your package was left in the office or delivered to your door... sitting there for anyone to have access to. When the management was questioned about this, their response was "require that your package be signed for and we will keep it in the office" or "email us and we will put it in your apartment". Here's a thought, why not make a policy and stick to it? There is NO consistency here...do not expect any. The water bills for the month of November 2013 increased 33% over the previous month. The explanation, when I asked, was that the city increased the price. There was no notification from management, just the increased bill...that is billed by a 3rd party provider who could offer no assistance in finding out why such a large increase occurred. My lease is up in mid 2014 and I will be finding a new place to live. Too many issues make it uncomfortable to live here, especially for the price. The building owner as well as Greystar Management are out of touch with what the residents of Seattle expect when paying top dollar for a place to live. And considering this place is next to an automotive garage, a "warehouse" and a chain hotel...top dollar is a lot to be asking. read more

I stayed at 708 Uptown for 2 months in corporate housing. Pros: 1. The view.   I had an incredible view of the space needle and downtown Seattle from the 5th floor.  It was fun to watch the space needle change appearance as the weather changed. 2. Newly remodeled apartment.  Nice appliances 3. Uber-friendly and helpful office staff.  Kind and always ready to help. 4. Nice community.  People were friendly.  I went to a party the office threw for residents.  It was nice to meet people.  5. Huge, big windows that let in lots of light and heat.  Even in the middle of winter, when the sun came out I could sun myself and feel the heat by sitting by the windows. 6. Good location - about a mile walk to downtown Amazon buildings like Blackfoot.  I walked by the Space Needle each morning on the way to downtown.   I felt safe walking alone.   Walkable to SLU.  Next to a busy road, so there's traffic noise if the windows are open. There's a grocery store next door (QFC) which makes it easy to get groceries.   Cons: 1. I could hear the people above me walking.  It was a low pitch but loud enough that it woke me up most mornings.  The people above me were often up by 6am. It's a bit crazy how loud it is. My roof reverberatedwhen they walked. I'm surprised they built the building like that. Also the doors make a lot of noise when they slam. 2. Heating issues - it took a couple days and several calls to get my heat working.  It was cold at night and I couldn't get either the bedroom or the main heater to turn on.  The heat isn't as strong as other places I've stayed, so if the apartment is cold it takes time for it to heat. 3. No blackout curtains.  I'm not used to city lights so I ended up sleeping in the office which didn't have windows. 4. Windows only open a tiny bit.  I don't believe there is AC but not sure. read more

This review has been a long time coming. I have lived here for approximately one year and four months. Throughout my time here I have had several different experiences, both good and bad. I will address as much as I can with the limited space I'm allotted. Some comments are based on other reviews, I hope this does not confuse anyone. Parking: It's a bitch. Period. However, living in Seattle, that's not exactly an anomaly. This is the norm in Seattle, tiny parking lots and two-way streets that only have enough room for one car. When reserved parking became available, we jumped at the opportunity for a reserved spot. We have been happy with parking ever since. We have, however, recently found cars parked in our spot. We were peeved when this occurred and immediately reported the issue to the current apartment manager (Sandra). She acted swiftly and towing signs have now been put up in response. From my prospective, there is not much that the apartment management can do-this completely falls on my fellow tenants who want to be, ahem, ass-holes, and park in reserved spots. I am hoping the management team moves to assigned parking spots for everyone so that people parking in "reserved" spots will be mitigated and eventually non-existent. Location/Traffic: I am a walker. I LOVE walking around the Queen Anne, SLU, and downtown areas. The location of this apartment complex is perfectly located to support access to these locations-and more, if you're up to it! Recently construction (and two-way traffic) has moved onto Mercer, close enough for people to look for back roads to avoid the traffic. But, again, traffic is something, like tightly packed parking lots, that comes with the territory. It's no secret that Seattle is terrible come rush hour (or any other random hour-we've come to find). To lessen the headaches, I subscribed to the Mercer Corridor Project mailing list. I'm notified of closings before they happen so that I can plan around it. But if you're walking (which I do whenever I can) then you don't really have to worry about traffic! Pets: I actually don't have a pet, but this is a pet-friendly community. This section is more so to address the comments about pet waste around the property. I love dogs! I enjoy meeting all of the different dogs in this complex. However, I get so disgusted when owners allow their pets to use the bathroom in random places throughout the property. It is NOT, nor should it be, the responsibility of management to CLEAN UP after a tenant's pet (even though they do, whenever a lazy tenant does not clean it up)! If someone has this expectation, they are foolish and we will, unfortunately, continue to see pet waste. If you're renting a house and your pet uses the bathroom on the front porch, you're not going to call the landlord to clean it up. I think people should be fined. I understand animals have accidents, but that's no excuse to leave droppings or urine around. Management: When I came to view Stream, Sherry was the apartment manager. She was great! She made the move smooth and enjoyable. I don't exactly recall when the next manager came in. I was fortunate enough to not need too much during her time here. She wasn't a terrible person or anything, and she did respond quickly when the igniter to the grill was out, but she did not seem approachable. After she left, there were temps left and right. When my lease was up, I had a difficult time finding someone to renew it. It didn't bother me much since I knew I wanted to live here for another year. But I can certainly see how this can be disconcerting to those less patient. In June we were fortunate enough to be introduced to Sandra, the current apartment manager! She introduced herself via email and began cleaning up the place (both literally and figuratively). Her attitude and work ethic is reminiscent of Sherry, and then some! I took advantage of her introduction and voiced some issues that I was concerned about. She addressed them immediately! She is such a sweetheart and I really hope she sticks around :) Overall, I love living here. Sometimes the actions of other tenants make me want to move, but I guess you can't have it all. The apartments themselves are awesome with great soundproofing (my unit is right next to 99). I have air conditioning too, which has really come in handy for this hot summer (but apparently some apartments don't have them-so make sure you ask)! The rent and size of these apartments are in the minority, meaning you won't see many deals like this around Seattle. In fact, there are apartment complexes that offer the same rent for smaller, older apartments. Aside from rude tenants (I hope they move ASAP), I really enjoy living at Stream Uptown. Yes, I am a real tenant and I was not offered a bribe for this review. I hope my experiences here have been well explained and are helpful to you. I have never lived in Stream Uptown. This review is based on my experience trying to lease an apartment here from the east coast in April. I put a deposit of $400 even before my friend could see the place for me because of the wrong information provided by an employee. Needless to say my friend saw the apartment complex and my window was facing a dumpster and there is an auto repair shop right next to the building so I changed my mind. They had to refund me the $400 which they agreed to since they misled me with the wrong information. It's October and I am still waiting on the refund. I have called and emailed the manager "Sherry" countless times. Every time I talk to her she assures me she will update me right away on the situation but I have never heard back from her. The situation if frustrating beyond words. How hard is it to issue a $400 refund when its your fault? If I was in the wrong, they would've fined me an exorbitant amount by now. The apartment complex may be nice but obviously the management sucks. I can wait for the check but the least you can do is reply to an email. Judging from the other reviews their customer service only starts if you live there. I plan to use the Washington public attorney service to resolve this issue. Never again will I ever look into a Greystar management complex. I hope Yelp doesn't filter this review. read more

I moved into Stream Uptown at the end of April 2013. I was leaving my old apartment for a number of "standard" reasons (price, amenities, etc), but surprising even to me, the way the building was managed was also a big reason that I wanted to move. I found Stream Uptown by a random search and was given a tour by the extremely friendly and helpful Sarah, eager to answer any questions I had. Needless to say, the reasonable pricing and amenities helped make my decision to move, but how Sarah (and the community manager, Sherry) worked hard to make me feel valued and not just another person occupying space in the building sealed the deal. Living here for a few weeks was great, with no complaints. It's a brand new building, so I was the first one to live in my unit. I loved the easily accessible gym, the soundproof walls and windows (The windows' ability to block the sound of Aurora is nothing short of incredible), the unique floorplan, and the fantastic rooftop view. When my fingers clicked "Add to Cart" a few too many times, Sherry was always waiting in the office with my packages when I got home from work, not annoyed in the slightest that my boxes had overtaken half of her office. She would even offer to dolly the packages up to my apartment if I didn't want to make multiple trips. I was pretty happy with my choice to move at this point. I was saving money every month, and I was happier with my unit, the building itself, and the office staff. I noticed a few weeks after moving that the AC unit in my apartment didn't work. Not a problem, I thought, I'll let Sherry know, and she'll take care of it for me. Sherry had someone in my apartment looking at it the next day, but they were unable to fix it. Sherry coordinated another maintenance visit later that week for a follow-up. Unfortunately, with replacing one part at a time, there have been a few visits with no success. While I'm not thrilled that my AC wasn't working after two weeks, it at least made me aware of one thing: Sherry is the greatest apartment manager in the history of apartment managers. She was calling the installer, electricians, and the manufacturer every day for me, giving me daily updates through email. She even had all three in my apartment at the same time, to make sure nobody could pass the buck and tell her to call someone else. She'd fill me in on more details if she caught me leaving in the morning or coming home in the evening. She's taken ownership of my problem and showed that she's legitimately upset that it's still not fixed. The only effort that I had to put into fixing this was letting her know once, and she's put in hours and hours of work on getting this taken care of. My problem has become her problem, not an annoyance that's just "another thing she has to do." This is what I was missing at my last apartment and what I'll surely miss whenever I end up moving out. I'm someone who typically moves every year or two just because I want a change of scenery. Unless my job takes me out of Seattle or I end up buying a condo, I can't see myself finding any reason to move away from Stream Uptown, and a big reason for that is having a community manager that cares about her community. We'd all love it if nothing broke in our homes, but the sad truth is that that's not possible. What matters is how it gets handled when something DOES go wrong, and Sherry has shown the best customer service I've ever received at the place it matters most: my home. Does Sherry deserve a promotion? Absolutely, hands down, no question about it. Do I hope she gets one? Definitely not, because I'm a selfish prick and I don't want to deal with someone else coming in who doesn't care whether I'm happy living here or not. read more

Open layout with an outstand view of the city plus it's right next to a 24 hour QFC market for food etc as well as a number of shops and restaurants which was awesome. Quick access to Amazon campus too. If I had not started a lease somewhere else before this experience I'd look to sign one here. I wish zero stars were available. With all of the options in Seattle for apartment buildings I would recommend looking anywhere and everywhere else. Apartment was shoddily built, walls are PAPER THIN and the clientele they rent to is the first year out of college still partying 6 nights a week crowd. I recently relocated here to Seattle with my boyfriend and our dog. We had done a ton of research on potential places to move to and toured a lot of different buildings around the area and we landed on Stream Uptown. I have to say, after being here for just over a month, we've really come to call this place 'home'. When we first came to tour the building, the manager (Sandra) was really friendly and genuine. She sat down with us at first to get to know us and then showed us what she thought would be best for our situation. We fell in love with the 1 bedroom+ den option, but we had a couple more buildings to look at before finally deciding. Before we left to continue on our house hunt, Sandra was honest and told us to do what was best for us. When we left to see the other places, we just kept thinking about Stream Uptown, and so we came back at the end of the day and signed the lease! Sandra helped us through the whole process and we were even offered a 1 month free of rent (score!)! Also, having a larger dog, we knew it would be a challenge to find a place that would rent with us and him, but Sandra was totally understanding! Since then, we've really gotten to love the spot. We're super close to my boyfriend's work (Amazon) and he walks less than 15 minutes to work everyday. QFC is right around the corner which is great, but a little more expensive than we like. There are great little eateries nearby as well: Citizen, NY Pizza (bottomless mimosas on the weekend!), Nabob, Loredos, and even more by Queen Anne Ave! Moving to a new city can be a challenge, especially not really knowing anyone, but I've been fortunate enough to meet some really nice residents here. I think that the vibe in the past may have been a little less friendly, but every day when I take out the pup, I always have someone to say hello to or to chat with for a little bit about recommendations about the city! Just recently, Sandra hosted a doggie social for humans and pets up on our gorgeous roof top and it went off with a bang! I read in another post that they thought this was a bad idea, but it was the exact opposite! It all depends on the dog and the owner and everyone that was up at the event had a good sense of their pet and if things got too much, they would bring their pet home. It was so nice to meet people that didn't even have a dog! I totally recommend Stream Uptown to anyone who is thinking about moving. Traffic can be a bit nuts around the area, but it's such a walkable neighbourhood that it doesn't really both me too much. Also, it's a big city - you've got to expect that living in the mix of it! As for the price, living in Seattle is expensive. This place is comparable to a lot of other buildings in this neighbourhood so you kind of have to just deal with that, but you are paying for quality! Oh - if you're looking for parking, it's pretty expensive, but there are options: 1. Suck it up and pay for reserved parking 2. Don't pay for reserved parking and just park in a spot that fits your car. So, if you've got a huge pick up, don't park in a compact spot! Duh! Or 3. Get some exercise and park on the street. It's free and you feel good about walking the extra block or so! Make sure you read the newer reviews of this place and always ask for Sandra to tour you around. My husband and I have lived at 708 Uptown for 3 years now and couldn't be happier! Laura and the building management team are friendly and helpful; we appreciate all their hard working putting on events to help make the building feel more like a community. When we expressed interested in moving to a bigger apartment within the building, they let us know of upcoming availabilities and helped us easily make the move! Any maintenance issues that have come up have been resolved quickly. The property is clean, has all of the amenities we want in an apartment, and is in a great location. We won't be leaving any time soon! read more

I have lived here for a little over a year now, renewed my lease for another year, and Absolutely Love it!! Its all about Location-Location-Location; this small complex is just 4blocks from the Seattle Center/Space Needle!! Plus, a block away from the local grocery store, and other great restaurants in the area. Units here are also quite spacious; have a beautiful rooftop deck with Fantastic views of the city and the Needle; and there's a state of the art fitness room. It's always been a very quiet community with nice neighbors and a super nice staff! Manager, Laura, is always there to help and super Nice! Also, the new leasing agent, Maddie, who is very knowledgeable and professional and can't forget maintenance guy, Alex, is a super-star too!! My girlfriend and I were searching for a new apartment after our roommate had moved out of our previous place, and this place popped up in our searches. It was the first place we toured, and left that day having already made a deposit and ready to sign the lease. Maddie was incredibly helpful in getting us all set up, and we have never met such a friendly property management and leasing agent staff. Plus, they have super cool events like the wine tasting from OS Winery from which we left with 3 bottles of some amazing Rose, and the view from the units is awesome. Doesn't hurt that we're both walking distance from our respective jobs either, as well as some great bars, food and the 24 hour grocery store. I don't think we could have found a better spot to move into. read more

I hate having to write bad reviews but when it is needed I do as it important to advise other consumers or in this case renters what they are in for. I have been in my share of rentals before and never had so many issues including issues with deposit refund! We lived at stream uptown for for just under a year and while it was a pretty quiet location and convenient for shopping we did have some issues. Being the first year I understand the need for certain inspections to handle issues covered under warranty and such but rather then schedule all the inspections for the same time frame they instead did it in 3 sessions meaning that renters had to be inconvenienced 3 times rather then had they broke it up and does it all at the same time. The apartment we had was never warm at all. It would take all day long to heat and left us to use dress in layers and blankets. Never used the bedroom as the main door had so much heat loss around the edges that the bedroom was freezing most the winter and no heater in the bedroom area. Closest was in the kitchen and it barely out out much heat leaving most the heating to be handled in the living room area. No lights at all in the bedroom unless you have a table or floor lamp. And the worst part we gave out 20 day required noticed and moved out on schedule making sure management was aware of the progress as it took me a few days. And the contract and Wa. state law requires the deposit to be mailed within 14 days of move out. If money is withheld they are also required by law and contract to give an itemized list of what was withheld and why. It took them 32 days to cut the check another 3 days to put it in the mail and was 38 days before it got to us and it did not have any sort of itemized list as required. On top of that the contract we signed at least said they would only charge for a cleaning IF it was dirty and we left it in better condition then we got it in as my wife cleaned everything even she cleaned out the oven which she never used once even. Fridge was totally cleaned out and the unit was left spotless but they charged a cleaning fee even though the contract and law says they can only charge it if it is left dirty or if it is in the contract and it wasn't just the standard cleaning clause which did not apply. The refund they sent was short but over $200. They also never sent out a final Water/Sewer/Trash bill so you never know what the final bill really totals so you have no way of knowing if they have taken out the proper amount for the final bill. Over all I would avoid this place like the plague as they do not seem to want to comply with state law and contract being how they handled our refund. And based on other reviewers I see we are not alone in feeling negatively about Stream Uptown and Greystar!! read more

Don't rent from this place. I concur with all the one star reviews. I'm done with this nasty place. It has been two months since I have moved out. After numerous emails to the manager I still have not received my deposit refund. Claims it is out of his hands and would follow up with their Texas office and get back to me, he never did. Seriously, save yourself the nightmare of living and dealing with this place that is run by a national chain and cares nothing about the well being of their renters. read more

A few warnings: 1. Skyrocketing rent - don't expect to renew your lease without it being raised significantly (20%+) for your new lease. I understand Seattle is a competitive market but most other places make small concessions for loyalty. 2. Dishonest lease renewing practices - know your rights. They tried to raise my rent on my lease renewal offer by 20% only 30 days before it was up and said I had to make a decision by then. Too bad Seattle rental laws allow you as a renter more time depending on how much your rent is raised, so they clearly backed down when I challenged them. 3. Cleaning fees - I toured 10+ places before choosing this one, in part because there was no non-refundable cleaning fee as part of the lease. That didn't stop them from trying to charge me one upon move out without any other reasoning than a "standard fee". I again challenged them because the law states that if a fee is unavoidable then it needs to be stated upfront in the lease and they again backed down. These are the biggest things but I quickly learned they are super shady to do business with. In my experience, the person you sign the lease with will be 2-3 people removed from the person in charge when you move out even a year later, so think twice before you trust them. read more

I lived in Stream Uptown for more than 3 years. During my stay, the quality of care and hospitality of the management in the leasing office continuously improved. The current management team care for their tenants, are prompt with maintenance issues, and have a friendly attitude. Highly recommend this place. read more

Update: Greystar immediately addressed our problem and updated procedures and technology companywide. Now you can pay EVERYTHING online in a secure environment without having to worry about lost/stolen/damaged money orders. Additionally they were extremely patient while WesternUnion took 45ish days to reprint and mail the replacement and even covered the associated fees. 5 stars. Thanks, Maddie and Laura! First a foremost, the old reviews of 708 should be considered just that, old. My girlfriend and I recently moved to Seattle from out of state and Maddie, our leasing ninja, has been nothing short of amazing. Since our move was sudden, we were not able to visit the complex in person. So Maddie went the extra mile to video chat with us to show us around both the complex and the unit. Additionally she sent us photos and constantly kept in contact with us, even outside of her work hours! When we arrived, she went out of her way to meet our needs and even gifted us some nice treats after our long drive. How awesome! When an unfortunate mistake caused some confusion regarding our rent payment, Maddie took charge and involved all the necessary parties to make sure the situation was properly addressed. At the present time things are still being worked out, but we're confident in Maddie and the team at 708. We'll update this review in 30 days pending the outcome. read more

Ill make this short and easy for anyone thinking about moving into this trailer park. First off, I want to make it clear that I'm typing this with my middle finger...I have lived in the Stream Uptown for about 8 months now. I have repeatedly woken up to no hot water, fire alarms going off in the middle of the night/day and to check if my heater is still on, because its so cold. The staff lady is alright, don't really see her much. So if you're lucky enough to catch her on any given day, consider buying a lottery ticket as well, Cause you're a lucky SOB. So with that being said if you want to pay 1400 a month to feel like you're camping 8 months out of the year then come live at the Dump Uptown, see ya there. read more

We lived at 708 Uptown for about 1 1/2 years, and we enjoyed living there a lot. The onsite staff are friendly and available to residents during the day, and the grounds are kept clean and tidy. The rooftop deck has incredible views of the city and space needle. The location is great, and each to find parking if you don't pay for a spot in the garage. The units are new and in good shape. The place if very dog friendly, and has a nice little gym as well, plus bike storage. Some of the units have A/C, ours did not. I think we got a really good deal during the winter, rates have gone up since then, but still very competitive for the location and new construction. Overall we had a great experience, the only reason 4 stars is because there was some construction remodel work that had to occur in our unit that I was not made aware of before we signed our lease, that was under the old site manager, and I would have been expected to be notified of major re-work that was known to have to occur prior to when I moved in. read more

I've been living here since April 2016 and I'm extremely happy with my apartment. I understand they may have had problems in the past but not anymore. The building is immaculate! Alex is very responsive and does an amazing job with the maintenance. The office staff (Laura, Danny and Sean) are wonderful and friendly. It has outstanding security. In my old apt, people were getting in and going through delivered packages. Here it's in a secured area. I love my apt. A lot of apts cut corners but this one doesn't and I don't hear my neighbors at all. Also, my apt is face 99 and the windows are so well insulated that I barely hear street noise. My only complaint is that the parking spaces are very small which is difficult for me. read more

We just moved in to Stream Uptown, got one of their awesome lofts with high (at least 12 feet), industrial looking ceilings and polished concrete floors. Really great place. It is a very new 6 story building (we were 3rd or 4th people to move in, we were very excited to get in as soon as possible!) with high ceiling apartments on the first floor. Everywhere else in Belltown and SLU lofts are very expensive and this building offers a great value for a loft. We had been looking for a loft for a long time and almost gave up until we came to see Stream. If you are looking a palace it might not be the place for you because it offers spaces for comfortable and efficient city living. We were very excited to find out that the building offers superfast Condo Internet (100 Mbits/second up and down, yaaay! Netflix doesn't skip anymore!). Each apartment has a heating/cooling unit which is absolutely quiet! Seriously, it emits no sound at all. The cooling feature will be very handy if another hot summer comes to Seattle (we felt that we were dying last summer). Each apartment has a washer/dryer, our bathroom has a very efficient motion activated fan. The building also has a gym, a yoga studio, roof top area with a gorgeous view of downtown and Lake Union. We have been also very happy with our community manager Sherry Lilienthal who I find to be the most caring, kind and responsive person. She takes all our requests very seriously and promptly addresses them. All in all, although we haven't been here long, we are really enjoying it. read more

I have lived here for going on three (3) years and overall, it has been a really good experience. As others have mentioned, there have been different managers over time, but they have all been friendly and helpful. The maintenance staff, Alex, has been here throughout management transitions and he is very nice and responsive! The current/recent front office staff and leasing manager (Maddie, Laura, Danny) have now been here a while and are super proactive and friendly. They work extra hard to try to find solutions (personally delivering misplaced shipments, decorating the mail room, etc.) and take the time to get to know residents, hosting monthly resident 'get-togethers.' I also love that they allow dogs. My only complaint is the construction that was done on the front of the building a while back, which seemed to be poorly managed. However, the management is now different and I think it was more the unprofessionalism of the contractors rather than the actual apartment management. The contractors got everything dirty and finished way later than originally stated. Also, the work occurred in the middle of summer and they removed the blinds for a month so it was super HOT! That's all taken care of now and my experiences from then on have only been positive! read more

I used to live at this apartment complex for two years. The first year was amazing and the customer service from the staff was always good. There were things that would happen or go wrong in the place but they would make fixes very timely. As soon as it went under new management the place stopped being maintained and when there was a fire on the roof the whole complex was basically inhabitable. There was noise at all hours and did nothing for the people who still lived there. I broke my lease because of how terrible it was. I gladly paid the fee to leave (even though I had written notice from the previous management that if I was able to find a sub-letter that they would waive the fee... Surprise, they did not honor this and the front desk person threatened that they would sue me if I tried to fight them on it). They had my info on file and decided to instead charge me a cleaning and painting fee without telling me and then send it directly to a claims company that would not stop calling. Honestly, I would never recommend dealing with this company. It's a decent location and the building is pretty nice, but the company is only looking to steal as much money as possible from you. They are not looking to keep your business. read more
