Suburban places are never as cheap as in the city, but neither are long drives and parking searches conducive to therapeutic efforts. So, I was quite satisfied. It would be a nice gesture if hot tea or cut fruit were offered at the end of the massage, as is done in China. Here, a small paper cup of cold water would have to do. He has no apparent connection with the spa, except that when I walked in this time he asked if there was anything he could do for me. His tone was mildly chilly with an undertone of hostility. I guess he works there, but his demeanor is off-putting. My guess, he is married to one of the masseuses. Next, the woman who showed me to the massage room, and was still waiting there when I returned from a stop in the restroom, was not the woman who gave me the massage. She was fine, but I like to be introduced to the person who is going to work on me. I don't enjoy it becoming a shell game. Finally, although they accept credit card payments, this time I was charged a few extra bucks for using one. When I came in I was greeted and told to enter a vacant room. I explained I had a Groupon, so I was escorted to the front for my voucher to be verified and recorded. It was then I was told about paying $5 for taxes, which she said I could pay at the end. The massage room was small but clean. Soft music was on repeat. Once I was undressed and covered with a sheet, the woman came in and went to work. This was one of the best massages I've ever had. The attention to detail and hitting all the right areas and pressure points were incredibly relaxing. By the end of the massage, everywhere from my head to my toes was worked on. The only negative was when I went to pay the tax. I used my card for that and told the 2 women at the counter I'd be paying cash for the tip. After tipping, the other woman goes "Excuse me. Maybe next time you can give her a better tip." I politely said no, that was fine, and walked out. I heard them speaking as I walked out. I don't know why people are so bent out of shape nowadays about receiving tips and/or how much.

The massage was ok and the tech seemed rushed. The second appointment I made needed to be canceled as well for another tech not coming in. They left the appointment in the schedule so I received a text and an email confirmation. When I showed up for the appointment they let me know that they called me and left a message, which they did but I didn't check my messages especially since after the call they were still sending confirmation reminders. The spa should not have been sending confirmation texts if there was no one there to perform my massage. After arriving I asked for a manager to call me that day and never received a call. I don't like writing bad reviews but there are plenty of small businesses that would love to have extra business and this hand and stone does not appreciate it.
