She guided me to the Santa Muerte shrine at the back before I left, and in researching this saint now, I am wowed that the communities this saint is popular with, are the exact communities who I am fighting for and concerned about right now! WOW! The staff member must have some pretty good psychic abilities because she absolutely led me to the exact items I needed intuitively. My sincere thanks and deep gratitude and appreciation go out to the staff and the wonderful atmosphere of Mandy's Magick Witch Shop and Healing Center! To top it off, there are two precious kitty cats to greet you when you walk in! There's also a comfy sofa in the back where you can look over all of the items you're interested in such as browsing books or deciding between supplies. Once I was there I found out that the owner is also the lone masseuse. When the massage started she focused a lot on my back since that was what I complained about. The experience was ok until people kept coming in asking about the massage. She had no dedicated receptionist so she was answering the door while giving me a massage. For the duration of my 1-hour-massage she went to answer the door and left me three times. That is what I didn't like the most. So when it was time to turn over, she was only able to massage my face and arms, a bit of my feet, my legs not at all. Then her little timer went off and it took her a while to get to it, it was annoying really. When it was time to pay, she laughingly said, you want to give a tip? When I came in I was greeted and told to enter a vacant room. I explained I had a Groupon, so I was escorted to the front for my voucher to be verified and recorded. It was then I was told about paying $5 for taxes, which she said I could pay at the end. The massage room was small but clean. Soft music was on repeat. Once I was undressed and covered with a sheet, the woman came in and went to work. This was one of the best massages I've ever had. The attention to detail and hitting all the right areas and pressure points were incredibly relaxing. By the end of the massage, everywhere from my head to my toes was worked on. The only negative was when I went to pay the tax. I used my card for that and told the 2 women at the counter I'd be paying cash for the tip. After tipping, the other woman goes "Excuse me. Maybe next time you can give her a better tip." I politely said no, that was fine, and walked out. I heard them speaking as I walked out. I don't know why people are so bent out of shape nowadays about receiving tips and/or how much.

At $55 for an hour of hands, forearms, elbows and pointed fingers in all the sensitive points in my shoulders, neck, and legs, it was a reasonable deal. Suburban places are never as cheap as in the city, but neither are long drives and parking searches conducive to therapeutic efforts. So, I was quite satisfied. It would be a nice gesture if hot tea or cut fruit were offered at the end of the massage, as is done in China. Here, a small paper cup of cold water would have to do. UPDATE: APRIL 22, 2016 - This visit was a little strange. There is an older gentleman sitting in the waiting room with a pile of papers. He has no apparent connection with the spa, except that when I walked in this time he asked if there was anything he could do for me. His tone was mildly chilly with an undertone of hostility. I guess he works there, but his demeanor is off-putting. My guess, he is married to one of the masseuses. Next, the woman who showed me to the massage room, and was still waiting there when I returned from a stop in the restroom, was not the woman who gave me the massage. She was fine, but I like to be introduced to the person who is going to work on me. I don't enjoy it becoming a shell game. Finally, although they accept credit card payments, this time I was charged a few extra bucks for using one. This is something I have seen in other Chinese places, but there is usually a sign or verbal notice that this is being done. Not here. Not sure I want to go back.
