Given our experience, we do not believe this practice prioritizes patient financial interests. My wife came in for a routine cleaning in March 2026 and presented our new insurance (Guardian DentalGuard Preferred) but was never informed it was out of network. Because of this, we did not get the opportunity to seek care elsewhere before services were rendered. Had we been known we were out of network, we would have gone to an in-network provider and owed nothing. Instead, we received a bill *months later* for $183. Their website says "We accept all traditional dental PPO insurances" and tells you to hand over your insurance card so they can "handle the hassle of dealing with insurance companies." A reasonable patient assumes that means they'll flag anything important about your coverage. Instead, we were told that they "assume all patients are aware of their network status", even though confirming this assumption would be as simple as an extra sentence or two. To make things worse, Guardian's own provider directory still lists a former Rachel Oates location as in-network... so even if you do your homework through Guardian's tools, you may still get the wrong answer. We tried multiple times to resolve this directly. No acknowledgment, no movement on the bill. If are a patient, or want to be one, we recommend: 1.) Call your insurer directly to confirm this practice is in network. Do not ask the practice. 2.) Review all coverage details beforehand so you are personally knowledgeable about any potential costs. 3.) Ask for a cost estimate before any work is done. In our experience, they do not offer this proactively. Or, just go to another dental practice that does these things for you.

I had an appointment with him a couple of hours ago and my gum is still throbbing where he scraped the hell out of it and my mouth is ringed in a rash because he didn't bother to look at my chart to see I am allergic to latex and used latex gloves on me. He was so obviously ticked off that I opted to spend far less on a simpler procedure rather than $1100 on an unnecessary and time-consuming one. He tried to use scare-tactics and what I can only call "dental care shaming." He was so rude and dismissive and downright aggressive. I had an issue of misrepresentation from their office mamanger (Lois) who stated that the practice would accept my new dental insurance plan for a simple 6 months cleaning & exam. I went to their office assuming nothing will be due, since my previous plan covered cleaning at 100% at this practice for past 2-3 years. After my cleaning, I received a bill for $100 which I refused to pay, since my previous insurance paid 100%. I inquired with the office manager why I was being billed and she stated that they do not accept my new insurance company and I was out of network. If I would have known I was out of network, I would have found another provider to seek my dental care, but that was not told to me when I inquired about my new insurance company. I refused to pay the bill and stated that to the office manager after her many attempts to collect. I then find out that the office manager shared my experience/issue with another family member of mine who also receives dental care at this practice. She stated that I owed money to the practice for their mistake. This is a clear violation of my rights. In my opinion, it's obvious that the staff have not been properly trained with HIPPA. I will be filing a complaint with OCR to investigate and to prevent this occuring again to other patients. Clearly, don't trust this dental practice with your information. I wouldn't be surprised if other HIPPA violations have occur at this practice.
