I just moved to Tennessee recently and have been putting off going to the dentist because I'm general hard to please in finding somebody I trust to work on my teeth! I can honestly tell you I found my new dentist and my new dental office and my new dental team these guys are amazing and I will be back not every year but every six months! Everybody is very uplifting and spirit everybody has positive vibes and you can tell the doctor leads his team with kindness. If you're looking for a new dentist you will not be this disappointed. I don't have insurance so price is a concern for me and their prices are very very reasonable and not trying to gouge you and every corner like it up a lot of dental offices! Brenna and Dr. Averitt are great, but I would not recommend some of the other staff. I have always received great service, but we have not been happy with the quality of care that our children have received. We asked that they use nitrous oxide when performing a procedure on our child. They agreed, it was on her plan, but they totally ignored the request when they called her back for her procedure. I am one of those people that HATES going to the dentist. I've had horror stories at dentists offices. Everything from not being 100% numb when they filled a cavity, so going to a dentist that had their teenage receptionist assist him with fillings. All of these created so much anxiety to the point where I actually got knots in my stomach when I thought about going. I knew I had to find a place to start going to regular, so I decided to use Yelp to help me figure out where to go. Let me tell you, these reviews don't do McKay's Mill Dental justice. This place is absolutely fabulous. Let me tell you why: Their receptionist Ashley, is seriously the sweetest thing ever. You walk in, and she's friendly and seriously just a ray of light. But the friendliness doesn't stop there. The hygienists have all been great, and super accommodating. They make sure I'm comfortable and walk me through everything that is going on. And then there is Dr. Avrit. He is truly a phenomenal dentist. He is obviously very informed and educated, but is also efficient and gentle. I got several cavities filled here, and usually when I get a filling my teeth hurt for days after. I felt zero pain after my fillings. Plus he got both of them done in like 15-20 minutes. I think sometimes dentists can be "shady" to try and capitalize off of patients (by telling them they need work done, etc.). That is absolutely not the case here. I came over here after a dentist told me I had 12 cavities, Dr. Avrit told me I had two. He's conservative about dental work and I appreciate that. I 100% recommend this place. I have been afraid of the dentist since I was a child. So needless to say I was thrilled to have found such a wonderful dentist that I actually looked forward to visiting. I cannot tell you how AMAZING the staff and Dr. Avrit are. They are so friendly and great at what they do. I had to have all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed. I was terrified because I had heard horror stories about wisdom teeth removal, esp impacted ones. Other than some soreness a couple days after, the recovery did not hurt at all. (I did end up with dry socket a week after, but that's what I get for drinking through a straw too soon) I kept waiting after surgery for the pain to set in and it never did. The only time I cried was after I woke up from anesthesia and realized I forgot to tell them to save my teeth. But seriously, these people are amazing. My husband and I just moved to central FL and plan on keeping our appointments with Dr. Avrit because for us, the 11 hour drive is worth it. read more

I just moved to the area recently and needed to go for my 6 month cleaning. I found McKay's Mill Dental on yelp and after seeing so many positive reviews, I decided to give them a call. I called at about 1pm and the receptionist informed me that they were booked till the end of the year but they could get me in at 2 if I could make it! Everyone at the office was warm and friendly, and my hygenist was the best that I've been to so far! Dr. Avrit was knowledgeable and listened to my concerns and addressed each one. I have been a patient at McKay's Mill Dental for over four years now. They are by far my favorite dentist to date. I have had many struggles and issues with other offices in the past but have never had an issue here. Amanda is my hygienist and she is wonderful! Dr. Avrit is great too! He is gentle, communicates well and never pushes extra services on you. She is so friendly and absolutely the first person you want to see when you walk in to an office! I met with Jody, Dr. Avrit and Amanda. I've never had staff at a dental office been so concerned that I have the best possible experience and clinical outcome. Dr. Avrit is attentive and conservative in his practice which is greatly appreciated. I have, in the past, avoided the dentist as it was such a huge inconvenience with long waits and rude staff. I received what I would compare to as used car salesman service while I was there getting my teeth cleaned. I was pressured into getting a filling replaced that my previous dentist just 6 months earlier had said was fine. I agreed only because they were able to do it the same visit and only because they assured me that my insurance would cover the remaining balance after I paid my portion that day. The assistant forgot to have me put the safety glasses on beforehand so she just told me to close my eyes half way through the procedure and continued to flirt with the dentist. The entire staff is unprofessional at best. After receiving a bill for an additional $100, I called the office and was only told that they were wrong about what my insurance would pay after all. I really like and enjoy the clinical staff. They are all professional yet fun. I won't go back however due to the billing and front end staff. As where the clinical staff shows great interest in patient welfare and competency in their work, I find the receptionist and billing personnel lacking. In reading previous reviews it would seem others' have complaints regarding non clinical staff. I suggest dental coding, billing, and Accounts Receivable training as well as customer service as a Quality Assurance measure to prevent future loss of business. read more

I have had the worst experience ever at this dentist office.I would not have posted a bad review or any review for that matter until I received an email asking me to review my experience. At this time I have NO tooth in the front of my mouth due to the barbaric extraction over three months ago. My tooth was broken into pieces and torn out of my mouth. Parts of my gum have been cut out and destroyed. I had pieces of tooth that I had to pull out with tweezers for weeks and bleed so bad that my husband had to rush me back to their office for help. I have a temporary tooth that I paid a LOT of money for that does not fit and the implant that would be the next step my not work because of all the damage done. They may be good for basic care but I would NOT recommend this Dentist to my worst enemy. Thank you for destroying my smile. read more

Absolutely the best. I have been going to McKay's Mill Dental and Dr. Avrit for years and they have always been amazing. This Saturday was a perfect example. I had a temporary crown put on Tuesday. On Friday I broke half of the crown and was in need of serious help. I called Dr. Avrit and told him about my problem. He came in on Saturday morning, by himself, and spent almost an hour with me fixing my broken crown and installing a new one. Cannot thank him enough. A true professional in every sense of the word. First time we walked into the door, we got greeted with attitude by a lady who looks like a rat. Yes we had trouble making our appointment, my wife is pregnant and there are things that come up all the time. We made it to the appointment a bit late and the front desk lady pretty much made us seem like we don't matter. they shouldn't hire people that do not have regard at all. get a job working under a rock and no one will miss your attitude. read more

This was a horrible experience for me at this place. I started off with a cleaning, xrays, and a treatment plan and everything seemed OK even though the office staff had a pretty bad attitude. They were going to do 3 crowns and fill 4 cavities and then remove all of the metal out of my mouth and refill with composite material. Then when the day came for them to actually do the work they waited until I was in the chair to spring a sheet of paper on me that removes them from ANY liability at all and they wanted me to sign it. I mean you should see this paper, it had all kinds of things on their that said if I was injured they were not liable, or if their work failed they were not liable. I do NOT do business with ANYONE who does not accept liability and neither should anyone else. I told the girl in the room "this is crazy, you don't actually expect me to sign this do you" and she said "don't get mad at me" like a retard or something. I told her "I am not mad at all but this is silly, this would never even hold up in court if you did injure someone" and so she went and got the office manager. The office manager copped an attitude with me so fast it was unbelievable and they all became quite rude and impolite so I got up and left. I did ask to see the doctor and they said he was busy. I called and asked to speak to the doctor but never heard back from him. I went to Franklin Dental Care and they did a fantastic job and I had all 3 crowns put on and 4 cavities filled for $1,700.00 out the door. Do NOT waste your money at this place, you may be met with awful attitudes and people who are unethical in their practice. I highly recommend Franklin Dental Care on Columbia Av in Franklin, they didn't ask me to sign anything and I told them I would not and the doctor told me "if we hurt you or our work goes bad we have insurance and we will fix your teeth". I am sure they will try to justify their actions on Yelp and will not even post my negative review of facebook, apparently they have an app that lets them only get 5 star reviews there. It should be against the law for ANY business to attempt to have ANYONE sign anything that removes the liability if they hurt someone or their work fails but this is Tennessee you know. read more
