I had an excellent experience at Bar Aesthetics for permanent brow services. In March 2026, I came…read morein feeling unsure about the process and the shape I wanted, and Chakay immediately put me at ease by walking me through each step, answering my questions, and explaining what to expect. I really appreciated how thoughtfully she evaluated my facial structure and shaped my brows in a way that looked natural and flattering. I also recently had my follow-up appointment and had a different vision for how I wanted my eyebrows shaped--Chakay listened, shared her professional perspective, and we met in the middle. I'm not one to argue with the expert since she clearly has the experience and knowledge, but I truly appreciated her willingness to listen and collaborate. Overall, my experience at Bar Aesthetics has been excellent, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, timely, and caring experience.

I want to be fair and detailed in this review, because my experience changed dramatically between…read moremy first and second appointments with Chakay Smith, owner and artist of The Aesthetic Bar. During my first appointment, Chakay Smith was warm, professional, and communicative. The mapping and shape of my eyebrows were done well, and I was included throughout the process. I was shown the design, asked for my input, and felt comfortable and heard. However, once the procedure was complete and I saw the final result, I was immediately alarmed by the color choice, which did not match what I requested or the reference photos we discussed. When I expressed concern, I was reassured that it could be corrected after the six-week healing period and was told, "It's better to correct something that's too light than too dark." While my trust was shaken at that moment, I gave the benefit of the doubt that the correction would be handled willingly. Later, I was informed that a $100 correction fee would apply. I explained that this was not a change of preference, but a color error. I was told customer satisfaction was the goal, and the fee was reluctantly waived. From the moment I arrived for the second appointment, Chakay Smith's demeanor was noticeably different. There was no warm greeting as before. Instead of being taken to the treatment room, I was instructed to remain in the front lobby while numbing cream was applied and told to wait 15 minutes. I waited closer to 30 minutes, while she disappeared into the back. When I was finally taken to the room, communication was minimal. There was no conversation, no check-ins, no mirror offered, and no engagement -- a stark contrast to the first appointment. She left the room multiple times during the procedure, and the overall atmosphere felt tense and unwelcoming. I felt as though my presence was unwanted. When the correction was finished, I was relieved and satisfied with the final color. Wanting to end on a positive note, I asked if I could hug her, and she agreed. Immediately afterward, she sternly pointed at me and the table and stated that any future corrections would require payment for her time, with no exceptions. That moment confirmed what I had felt throughout the entire second appointment -- a complete shift in demeanor from warm and professional to cold and punitive. This review is not about perfection or even the final result, which I am satisfied with. It is about how a client is treated when an issue arises, especially in a service where trust, comfort, and professionalism are critical. The contrast between the two appointments was significant and unsettling. I waited before posting publicly to allow the opportunity for this to be handled privately. I hope future clients receive not only skilled work, but also consistent professionalism and respectful treatment when corrections are needed.

I have been a long time customer at this beauty supply for many years now. But I have noticed that…read morewhen I recently purchased a 'big ticket' item from them (after a strong suggestion from their clerk)... over $300.00 worth of products... I found that the product (Steve Chi Hair) was of really poor quality. The clerk that suggested it...clearly was only trying to make a sell.... and knew that the product was faulty. I now have no confidence in them. I brought this to the attention of the owner, and he claimed there was nothing that he could do about it. All sales are final he says.. but he could give me a discount on my NEXT purchase. So I asked myself, why would I trust making another purchase with you all and this is the second time this has happened to me here? Would I be setting myself up for disappointment number three...only to mis-invest my money yet again? Really? They will never get me money again.

I'm a loyal customer or should I say was a loyal customer of Ebony Beauty Supply. I had been going…read morethere every once in a while since I live in the area, and never had any problems untill just of late...... I spent a lil under $20.00 at my last visit and gave a large bill, in which I received change. The following day I went to the liquor store, bought a few things handed the cashier my money only to find that the bill I had was fake! Immediately I begin to brain storm and remembered the day before in which I had gotten change from the Beauty Supply. That was the only cash I had on me and the only place i had gotten the money from was the beauty supply. So of course I took the bill back to the beauty supply and tried to explain the situation. Never was I loud, disrespectful, demanding, or intimidating. The owner looked at me like I was crazy and told me he never had fake bills and I did not get it frum his place of business. Now, if you've ever been there and like many other breauty supply stores they usually have young girls at the register, while the owner is usually busy with other tasks, with that being said how would he KNOW if he had fake bills or NOT!. So I politely asked for his business card and left with my FAKE money. I'm upset and more so irritated about the whole situation b/c as a loyal customer I would of thought that he would of given me my money back. I bought $20 worth of products and spent $40.00. I knw times are hard but why would I try to get over on $20.00. It's the principal and you think that I could of been loud, demanding, just plane rude i probably would of got my money back!. So im no longer going to spend my money there and if you are a regular there please check your bills before you leave the register. Check them right in front of the cashier, you dont want to give him any reason to believe you are tryin to get over.
