During my first appointment, Chakay Smith was warm, professional, and communicative. The mapping and shape of my eyebrows were done well, and I was included throughout the process. I was shown the design, asked for my input, and felt comfortable and heard. However, once the procedure was complete and I saw the final result, I was immediately alarmed by the color choice, which did not match what I requested or the reference photos we discussed. When I expressed concern, I was reassured that it could be corrected after the six-week healing period and was told, "It's better to correct something that's too light than too dark." While my trust was shaken at that moment, I gave the benefit of the doubt that the correction would be handled willingly. Later, I was informed that a $100 correction fee would apply. I explained that this was not a change of preference, but a color error. I was told customer satisfaction was the goal, and the fee was reluctantly waived. From the moment I arrived for the second appointment, Chakay Smith's demeanor was noticeably different. There was no warm greeting as before. Instead of being taken to the treatment room, I was instructed to remain in the front lobby while numbing cream was applied and told to wait 15 minutes. I waited closer to 30 minutes, while she disappeared into the back. When I was finally taken to the room, communication was minimal. There was no conversation, no check-ins, no mirror offered, and no engagement -- a stark contrast to the first appointment. She left the room multiple times during the procedure, and the overall atmosphere felt tense and unwelcoming. I felt as though my presence was unwanted. When the correction was finished, I was relieved and satisfied with the final color. Wanting to end on a positive note, I asked if I could hug her, and she agreed. Immediately afterward, she sternly pointed at me and the table and stated that any future corrections would require payment for her time, with no exceptions. That moment confirmed what I had felt throughout the entire second appointment -- a complete shift in demeanor from warm and professional to cold and punitive. This review is not about perfection or even the final result, which I am satisfied with. It is about how a client is treated when an issue arises, especially in a service where trust, comfort, and professionalism are critical. Okay, I've been going to Chakay for my lashes when she was renting out a room in a hair salon in Pinole. I took a break (a year or two) from getting my lashes done but recently went back during one of 2020's SIP. I hate wearing mascara. I'm usually an eyeliner and lipstick gal. I keep it simple. But with all the mask wearing, you couldn't see my lipstick. I wanted something to pop on my face and since my lipstick was obscured with the mask, I tried eyeshadows again but I honestly don't have time for that. I came in for a brow shaping and consultation then booked my ombré brow appointment right after. I found chakay on yelp and it had so many good reviews so I HAD to have chakay herself do my lashes. When I got there the decor was so pretty! So then I was taken to one of the many rooms and Chakay did my lashes first, I fell asleep so fast lol. Woke up and WOW. Came out literally from a beauty rest. I wanted natural lash extensions and she did that for me, people thought they were real. As for the brows, I got the ombré brows. Chakay and I worked as a team and she made sure I wanted it to look like how I wanted it. Also I loved her brow technique with the sticker ruler and this floss string so that everything was even! I've coming here for the past few months for my eyelash extensions, and I highly, highly recommend this for anyone who wants to try that service. Kathleen does a wonderful job with her work, and I always get compliments on my lashes even if it's been a few weeks since my last fill. The classic set looks really natural, and maintenance is a matter of brushing them out a few times a day. Just be sure not to rub your eyes or pull on them (obviously)! The process for a full set takes about 1.5-2 hours but the fills are only an hour. All the booking is conveniently done thru Schedulicity, and Kathleen has lots of weekend and evening appointments, which is important for my work/home life schedule. I got my eyebrows ombré powdered by Aileen, and i am in love. This is something that I've been wanting to get done, and finally got the nerve to do it. It's so nerve wracking because, well, it's on your face! I found Aileen through Instagram and have been following her work since then. I was so happy to get an appointment with her. She made me feel very comfortable during the 3 hour session. The pain was tolerable, but she offers numbing cream to ease it. The whole session seemed to fly by with our conversations about life! I went first for tinting/shaping to check out her work I was so paranoid and the next visit I booked was for Ombré brows I was so impressed. The entire suite looks clean and tidy and bright. An absolute five star experience. I recently got my brows microshaded by Chakay and I must say I'm amazed by her work and in love with my brows. I get compliments everywhere I go. Unlike my previous experience, Chakay took her time to get all the details which included having me smile and do my natural expressions, looking at me up close and from afar.
