Great customer service! Nice and clean location in Lafayette! Totally quiet with central air makes this place relaxing! I liked the wood plank ceiling and the "cabin" feeling throughout! This place is great By the way, I asked about the Pleasant Hill location and they said they closed it and opened this new one up a few months ago: back in March 2014 (it's August 2nd today). I think they really listened to what customers were saying about the old place. After reading the negative reviews left about the PH location, I gotta say, none of that stuff applies anymore. This new place got it right. Also, they are known for their hot stones, which are warm/hot, but not "burn you" hot. Finally, take a look at the pics I posted and you'll see there's plenary to wrap yourself with (you shouldn't get cold). No this place isn't big but it's got what you need! read more

My mom and I got a Groupon for a massage for two with chocolate and fresh fruit as a gift. We got there and there was no chocolate or fresh fruit just some snicker bars and raisins. I had called to set an appointment and the receptionist took my voucher number. When I got there I tried to show them the groupon without realizing that had already redeemed it. I tried to tell them that I had set up the appointment with the receptionist and she took my number down but they looked very confused and insisted on taking payment from us. The massage was great but the customer service sucks! We ended up doing the massage and paying and they said once we find the voucher we can get our money back. We did get our money back and they said they would give us a massage for free. Well when I called to try to set up another appointment for the free massage they said it was just for one person. I don't think I will be returning to this place. I still think we are owed a free massage for 2. read more

STAY AWAY. I get a massage every two weeks and almost never write reviews. This was such a bad experience that I felt to warn you. Firstly, no one here speaks any English. None. Secondly, Teresa was the only one working that day and took nine calls while doing massage. Nine. Third, She wouldn't take my groupon and wanted a 24-hour notice to redeem that and wanted paid in CASH. WTH. Fourth, the cleanliness is sub par at best Fifth, you are dealing with real unethical folks. She pushed me for a $10 tip because she said she "earned it". tons of better places around. I enjoyed the customer service. The massage was great. Very relaxing. I must say it was quite cold in the room. I would have preferred a warmer atmosphere. The price point is good. However, we were told the $95 couples massage came with juice and a cracker with cheese plate. We only got two small cups of juice and a few snickers mini candy bars. This place is not about any extra tricks or spectacular things. It's simple. I'd go back alone for a massage. I wouldn't go back as a couple. Location was a little hard to find. Now let me say this- I am a massage queen. I absolutely love massages. I am obsessed with massages- so you can imagine that I've had many many many massages over the years of my life. I am very picky with my massage. I can honestly say this is hands down one of my top 3 best massages I've ever received in my life. It was a little hard to find but there's plenty of parking. The ladies were kind and friendly. I really enjoyed getting a couples 75 min hot stone massage. She used the hot stones the entire time so it was amazing. So relaxing and the pressure was perfect. I have been going to Anew Day Spa since Theresa first opened her spa in Pleasant Hill (maybe 5 years ago). I have always had a great experience with the different people that I have gotten a foot massage with. If I find someone that I absolutely love, I will usually request that person. Everytime I go to Anew Day Spa, Theresa and her staff always treat me like family. There have been times when I have called Anew Day Spa asking if they have a same day appointment. The majority of the time, Theresa has been very accommodating towards me, which is another reason why I'm a loyal customer. I had stopped going to Anew Day Spa for awhile, but when I would go to other foot massage places, they just DID NOT compare to Anew Day Spa. I was just another "client" and it didn't have the same ambiance as Anew Day Spa. With that being said, I have returned back to what I know. I go to the Lafayette location and I usually request Jesse (if she's working). I have also gone to Theresa's newer location in Antioch (2317 Buchanan Rd.) I had a guy do my massage, but I forgot his name. He was really good and I would recommend him. My preference is going to the Lafayette location since it is closer to me (I live in Pleasant Hill). If you are not familiar with the Lafayette area, this location could be hard to find. There is a sign with the address hanging on the street side, but you need to pull into the driveway and drive all the way to the end of the driveway and you will see Anew Day Spa. If you are looking for honest people (no shady business), a place to relax and unwind, I highly, highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed! read more

This place is a total travesty for the name sake of massage parlors everywhere. These people were super aggressive and asking for tip regardless of how terrible their service was provided. They constantly answered the phone while providing this service. And continuing to massage in areas that were requested not to be handled (i.e. Bottom of the foot). They also did not provide a relaxing environment due to their constant need to converse with anybody and everybody. I would not return no matter how good the deal is because in the end it was a terrible horrible experience. read more

I was looking forward to my massage at Anew. The person I have been going to moved across country so I've been searching for a new masseuse. I bought a Groupon for a 60 minute massage with a "sweet treat & green tea". What a huge disappointment! First of all, they've moved to Walnut Creek near the freeway so there was a lot of noise. The "masseuse" I had didn't speak or understand much English. She didn't introduce herself or ask if there were areas to address. Not personable at all. I told her that she was giving too much pressure and to be lighter. But she didn't get it. She pushed so hard on my bones (my shoulder blades and ribs) I've never had a massage where there was pressure on the bones! She didn't work on the muscles. Plus, she pushed down really hard on the areas between my ribs and waist. My kidneys! Are you kidding! The massage was so hard my neck, back and shoulders are so sore and I have bruises!!! This was the worst massage I've ever had! I caution you to stay away from this place! And I got no sweet treat or green tea! read more

My husband and I had a Groupon for an hourlong couples massage with tea. It was incredibly relaxing, and they did a great job!

Got a couples massage for 2, which includes a drink and fresh fruit and all we got was 1/2 glass of an off brand orange juice and a sm bowl of dried nuts and dried fruit with some holloween candy around dish. The massage was all use of hot stones which is not a massage to me. Just someone rubbing hot stones all over you. Was using an expired groupon and they charged us $125 more. So that made ea massage OVER $100 for 75 mins.....SO NOT WORTH IT! no ambiance at all, grandma type sheets on massage table......too expensive! 2 stars for hot stones read more

My wife and I got groupons for this place. I wouldn't exactly call it a "Spa". There were no accompanying fruit/cheeses as promised. And I couldn't believe how overly aggressive they were about asking for a tips, reminding us that even though we prepaid the massage, the tip still had to be paid. My wife thought the massage itself was good, she would probably give it 4 stars. I was not that impressed and would say it was worth 2 stars. (Hence the 3 star review). We were both asked if we wanted particular areas worked on, and for both of us they never were because the person giving the massage didn't manage time properly, or simply forgot. Very good massage but difficult getting reservation. I called and made reservation for Sunday afternoon but once I mentioned the Groupon, she said she didn't accept Groupons on weekends. The Groupon had no such restriction. I called a few weeks later for a reservation for a Friday. She stated that they could not accept the Groupon on Fridays unless I wanted to go to their Antioch location. I explained I lived near Lafayette location and Antioch is a minimum of 45 minutes away. I finally made a reservation for a Sunday and surprise this week they do accept Groupons on Sunday. read more

The massage was excellent -- I came in with a lot of neck and shoulder pain and left very happy and loose. The room was nice -- I liked the temperature and low lighting. The "fruit and chocolate" is kind of a joke, as others have noted -- it's mini Snickers and trail mix, but whatever. You're there for the massage, not a snack! It was hard to find -- at the back of a series of little shops/spas, and the parking lot was full, but street parking was easy and free. read more

The massage itself was amazing and gets 4.5 stars. Customer service gets 0. We get there with our groupon for our already scheduled appointment. They show us the room and we start to get undressed. The front desk woman just opens the door without knocking, sees we're changing and then leaves. After a while she knocks this time and hands me her cellphone. Her boss is on the phone saying that she cant honor the groupon because our appointment was on a weekend and its not valid on weekends. (I later scoured the groupon ad and saw no indication of this rule) I try to ask why we were able to make the appointment if they weren't going to accept the voucher but she keeps repeating they are not valid on weekends. The fact of the matter is I'm naked under a towel waiting for a massage, so I wasn't going to argue it. I ended up paying for my massage out of pocket and was able to cancel the groupon because I am not going back. The "drinks, cheese and fruit platter" were water bottles and snickers. No frills, no customer service, but if that doesn't matter to you, then go ahead get a massage here. read more

When they called to confirm our appointment they tried to get us to switch the location of where we were getting the massage (we chose Lafayette, they asked if we wanted to go to Antioch). Odd question. Our deal was supposed to include fruit and cheese. We got a half cup of OJ, nuts and chocolate. The massage itself was good but everything else was really odd and we didn't get exactly what we purchased. They also redeemed the voucher before we even arrived. I came here because I found a Groupon for "massage with herbal tea and a sweet treat" I recently had a concussion and one suggestion for a faster recovery is to get a LIGHT massage. The man at the front desk was patronizing and rude. So much so that I left. However, the woman called me and apologized for his behavior offering a massage for $40. I was reluctant but I accepted and came back. I told her before the massage about the concussion and to be light she nodded and said okay but I'm not sure she understood what I meant. She pretty much did the exact opposite. I've never had a massage like this but it was intense to say the least. I heard so many crackles and pops. It was incredible. The next day was hell. There's this concept that when your body clears toxins you experience what's called a healing crisis. Basically it's because when you get a deep tissue massage toxins are released and your body gets overwhelmed when trying to clear them. I drank ungodly amounts of water. The following day I felt completely recovered. The massage was definitely worth it. Just drink water and you'll be good. read more

I went to Anew Wellness Spa after my girlfriend went with her friend and said it was awesome! I have to say I haven't been that relaxed in a long time. I suffer from chronic tightness in my neck and shoulder muscles. Theresa was able to release most of the tension enough to reduce much of the pain I suffer in those areas. She did have to answer the phone once, but being in a small business myself I understand that sometimes it's nesecary. She more than made up for the slight interruption with her hard work and great personality. I'll definitely be back soon! read more
