You can enroll in free trial classes here before you commit to anything. I enrolled my son in the hip hop class and wanted to get my daughter in the hula class, but the latter is extremely popular with a couple dozen people already on the waitlist. The parking lot is shared with some other businesses so it can get pretty packed but I was luckily able to score a spot when I arrived. The studio is easy to navigate, with 3 different dance rooms holding simultaneous classes. There is a bench against the wall where parents can sit and watch if they want, although the view isn't ideal. You can also just drop your kid off at a class and come back for pickup. The studio is conveniently located a couple of blocks away from Grand so plenty of things to do in the area while you wait. The classes are a great way for kids to burn off some extra energy while also learning a new skill set. The techniques taught are age appropriate and the teachers are warm and friendly. There are two (optional) recitals held throughout the year so the students can showcase everything they learned. And the monthly price of membership is very competitive for what you're getting out of it.

Shely &…read moreher husband, along with Miss Grace have been very helpful, patient, and kind with me and my daughter regarding any of our questions or needs. They are very flexible, which I appreciate as my daughter is signed up for Saturday morning class but sometimes that is not always manageable so she's allowed to attend the Monday class when she can't make the Saturday class. Miss Grace has been my daughter's teacher since day one- another big plus! I've seen many programs (especially children's programs) where the teachers/coaches/whoever change frequently and that can be disappointing since children are creating trust and attachment, the consistency in routine is lost and it makes management look bad. Seeing that Miss Grace has never missed teaching a Saturday (or Monday) class shows me that she loves her work, she loves the children and Shely likely is a good employer. At least, that is my assumption. MIss Grace has also been assertive in letting me know when my daughter has misbehaved, another quality I appreciate. I am not looking for someone to coddle my child- I'm looking for a professional who takes their role and their art seriously. Not because I am a Stage mom but because I want any interest my daughter takes on to be reciprocated with the same respect and dedication. Who wants a coach who lets kids run crazy? Who wants a music teacher who lets the student continue to sound awful? Who wants a dance teacher who lets children goof off and be a brat during class? I don't! I never took dance classes to know if Shely Pack Dancers is the next Twyla Tharp Ballet Company, but my gut tells me it's an excellent place for my child to learn dance.

She began dancing at WSPA at just two and a half years old, training in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and musical theatre. As she has grown, so has her passion for dance, and she now focuses her training on ballet and contemporary. Her training at WSPA has given her opportunities we could have only dreamed of when she first started. As a ballet and contemporary soloist, she has earned recognition and scholarships at prestigious competitions including Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), New York City Dance Alliance, California Dance Classics, Universal Ballet Competition, and ADC IBC. Watching her receive these accomplishments has been incredibly rewarding, but even more meaningful has been seeing the confidence, discipline, artistry, and joy she has developed along the way. One of the most special full-circle moments has been The Nutcracker. She began performing in WSPA's Nutcracker as a Baby Angel at seven years old and dreamed of someday dancing the role of Clara. This year, at 12 years old, that dream came true when she was cast as Clara. Watching her step into that role on the same journey that began when she was a little girl has been unforgettable. I am incredibly grateful for the teachers who have invested in her, challenged her, believed in her, and helped nurture her love of dance. Her accomplishments are a reflection not only of her hard work, but also of the training, mentorship, and opportunities she has received at WSPA. For our family, WSPA is so much more than a dance studio. It helped shape me as a young dancer and is now helping shape my daughter into the dancer and young person she is becoming. Being able to share this connection across generations makes WSPA an incredibly special part of our family's story.
