This is a beautiful location and does not have the traditional look of a Mexican restaurant. The wait staff is always polite and attentive. The food is really good. The only thing I didn't like was the empanadas. I've always said Mexican restaurants have the BEST drinks. I haven't been proven wrong. Make sure you have a designated driver :) There are a few nice hotels nearby if you need accommodations.

Returned to Angelo Covina to celebrate my brother's birthday. The food was just as good as the first time I ate there and still recommend this restaurant. First, the restaurant is beautiful-clean and modern with extensive and appropriate Mexican imagery and decorations. they also pay homage to Frida. The service was fast warm and efficient. i had the lunch chicken enchiladas which normally comes with red or green sauce but they allowed me to substitute their excellent mole sauce. it came with a mound of Mexican rice, pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. My wife had the huevos rancheros with two eggs served over two corn tortillas, red sauce, queso fresco onions and sour cream with rice and beans. my brother and daughter both had carnitas (slowly cooked pork) with they both claiming they were the best they've ever had. It came with rice, refried beans, and guacamole salad. finally my grandson had a kids cheese quesadilla that they added some requested beef to and Mexican rice. Needless to say we all left fatter and happier. Good place.

My kids wanted to take me out for Mexican for my birthday dinner and we chose Anejo. The ambience is fun and inviting. I enjoyed my frozen margarita (maybe too much). The service was spot on and the food was great. We will be back!

I'm gonna start with the fact pictures were missing. This is because we were too busy moving appetizers out of the way so our meals could be sat on top of our table basically. There was simply no time! No sooner did we get our appetizers the food was messed up TOO so we were dealing with that as well. The pork belly definitely didn't taste right at all so we sent that back. Our chicken and shrimp fajitas had 1 (yes 1) shrimp. Our waiter was basically ignoring us. The other wait staff wasn't attentive. We had to combine food on plates so we had at least a little room to eat so as my brother held a huge dirty plate out for attention a different waitress kindly rolled her eyes when he asked if she could take it .... Wt .... ?! It's gotta be a prank at this point. A few minutes later he's again holding another plate off the table to make room and there's no one to help even though they absolutely saw us flagging them down. Our waiter had more important things to do which was very apparent. I hate leaving bad reviews as you can see but they unfortunately earned this one!! I asked for a manager because at this point we're opting for putting dirty bowls and plates on the window seal at our table. Thankfully it was just wide enough. Mara, the manager, somewhat actually saved some grace on my review. She took off the appetizer (pork belly) and the chicken fajitas. Something that should of been offered already with the appetizer from our waiter as no one touched it except for a tiny bite. The fajita should of been taken back and corrected but we got the feeling other things were more important than our measley 4 top I'm gonna give them 3 stars only and I mean ONLY because Mara saved the day.

Our Red Hat chapter went Anejo Cocina for our December luncheon and holiday party. We were very lucky to have Ivania be our waitperson. She was great when I had her on my previous visit and she was superb again! We were a medium-sized group but almost every request was attended to in good time. The ladies ordered a variety of entrees and sides and they said every item was delicious. I was able to get a steak burrito this time without anything onion and it was great! The decor is so festive already that it easily increased our holiday mood. I wished I lived closer but I heard several ladies say they were making Cocina a favorite spot!

Looks nice inside and very clean. Service was excellent. They gave us chips and salsa and took our drink order right away. My friend had fajitas and I had a burrito. The fajitas were piping hot and delicious. My burrito was good but could have used a little more seasoning. The burrito was huge so I only ate half during lunch and just finished the rest for dinner, it heated up good. I would eat here again.

We decided to check out Anejo in Middleburg one evening on a whim. It's very close to our house. It's a new restaurant and I know they have a location in downtown Jax. They gave us complimentary chips and salsa, some of the worst chips I've had at a Mexican restaurant. They were thick, cold, and many were very stale, and a few tasted burnt. The salsa was ok, kind of runny. It reminded me of Tostitos salsa that you get at the store. The Oaxaca Old Fashioned was really good! They didn't have mint for my Mule so I ordered the Coco(coconut) margarita. It was just ok. They filled a tiny cup with ice and filled up the rest with the drink so there wasn't much in it. I ordered the Anejo Sampler appetizer and my husband ordered one US-Mex taco. We waited 40 minutes to receive both. The appetizer was enough to feed 2 people as a meal. The food was mostly good. The flavor wasn't 100. The US-Mex taco was delicious. Messy, but worth it. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, decorated well, the staff were all very nice. The temperature was a little cold inside but not bad. It was 5:30 on a Tuesday in November when we arrived. It wasn't very busy. Overall, my thoughts are: the place is overpriced, too slow for service, some of the food is lacking, especially the chips. I wouldn't be against coming back but it would not be a recommendation to my friends.

Bland, slow service and high prices. Beautiful place but doesn't make up for the rest. Everything looked good but where was the seasoning?!?

Visited:: 15Nov25. I ordered the anejo burrito loco. Was decently flavored burrito, my one concern was the burrito ingredients weren't throughout the burrito. One end had all the black beans and the other end did not. Both ends really didn't have chicken but the middle there was. It wasn't just my burrito, my friend got the same one and it had the same issue also. Obviously wished it was consistent all the way through. I know it's new at the time I'm writing this, but our server was very slow. Had to ask for silverware after our burritos came out, which took a couple min. To receive. Waited awhile on water. Didn't really check in on us. Later on we had another friend join and it took more then 10min. To get her anything. I hope those are kinks that'll be worked out. Just like all other Mexican places fun looking inside family friendly environment. Will come back.

The service and the food are AMAZING! Nancy, our waitress was helpful and so nice. The manager came by to make sure everything was fine. I recommend it. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked great

Shrimp and chicken fajita and ground beef chimichanga.

My wife and i have been here a few times. Today was the worst. I ordered the shrimp and chicken fajitas and my wife ordered the ground beef chimichanga. We split a margarita. My wifes chimichanga came out looking like it was folded in half. It was horrendous. My fajitas was burnt, and almost all chicken, 4 pieces of shrimp. Im not going to pay 20 some odd dollars for a chicken with a side of shrimp. The rice was very dry, the beans were a salt lick. It is becoming the place down the street at salsas. Terrible. The waitress was good but so quiet i could hardly hear her. The place is decorated nicely, but thats not why i came here. I hope this place isnt going downhill as my wife and i liked it here. But for now i think we eill take a break.

Nancy was awesome. The food was great. Would recommend all my friends. The tomahawk steak was off the chain. My daughter wouldn't share it with me.

While reservations are required, Laura the owner , was gracious enough to let us get transported to this wonderful place you see here. First off, this place is everything! The details from ceiling to wall to all the fixtures, it's very immersive, you are in the islands sir or ma'am! Goodbye Jacksonville! We were seated up front where performer Kalani Rose set the mood and infused the air with her lovely voice. The tempo was upbeat, the volume was just right, allowing for intimate conversation and lively chatter alike. Great for date nights and group outings. We ordered food including Aloha Sliders, Huli Huli Wings , and Furikake Fries. Food was good, would've loved more of the glaze on the mini burgers tho! The drinks we ordered included Mai Tai (rum based w/ orange ) and Halekulani (bourbon with pineapple orange and lemon) , these were delicious. A bit on pricey side but strong! But, you're paying for the presentation and the atmosphere! If you've ever been to the old tiki lounge off baymeadows from years past, this one is much better! The entire staff is so cool. Like really chill. Hubby and I really enjoyed our visit here! I'll bring the ladies next time!

Just some information to know it is primarily a bar, they only have about 6 appetizers to order from. The appetizers were good and came out very quickly. The first thing that caught my attention was the amount of times they put food down at our table we did not order after about the 3rd or 4th time of this happening it seemed to be something they do to up the bill in hopes you don't notice. The second thing that thoroughly surprised and bothered me was after ordering another round of drinks, the second the drink was put at our table the waitress came over to check us out. No one had asked for the bill so we were all confused as to why we were being told we needed to close out, especially since we had just ordered more drinks. The waitress tells our party they have another reservation coming and they need our table... We all scramble quickly to leave so there's no issue and once we were outside that's when we realized there was no time limit on our table nor did anyone ask to close out the tab. Thankfully the hula dancers and our own group made the experience great however this place is very clearly a money grab and should not be accepting more reservations than can be handled as it completely ruined the end of our experience.
