Small concrete with butterfinger

The custard here is always delicious and consistent. My favorite is the James Brownie Funky Jackhammer. The drive through line here moves very slowly so be prepared to wait. My tip is to just park and walk up and order - there are heaters. No indoor seating. Staff is always nice.

FPO wanted to try Andy's Frozen Custard for a while. We were finally in the area and stopped by the one on Shawnee Mission Parkway. It was a hot, humid July afternoon and we could see a lot of people in the drive thru as well as walking up the counter. It seemed like this is the place to go after you get done at one of the many public pools. I got a medium Key Lime Pie Concrete. FPO got a medium Strawberry, Oreo Cookie Concrete. Our total bill came just over $14. The concretes were okay but I personally prefer Freddy's. Still, it was a nice afternoon and nice treat.

They were quick and the service was great! The custard is amazing. The brownie was so soft and delicious! I like how you can see the custard machines in the window too.

Andys!!! My favorite frozen custard! I come here every weekend and my go to, is the snowmonster. For the snow monster, they take chocolate sauce that hardens and splashes it in your cup around the edges. They also put it in the vanilla custard and blend it with strawberries. So it has a great sweet tang to it. Plus I love at the end scraping all of the chocolate from the sides. I have tried other seasonal items too. My favorite seasonal is the pumpkin pie concrete. So buttery, creamy and just a great flavor. The key lime pie concrete is ok to me. I think its not one of my favorites because key lime pie can tend to be too sweet for me. I do love the pie pieces in the concrete. I had mentioned earlier I loved the snowmonster but this summer (2021) they introduced the version with blueberries. I prefer it with the strawberries, I found myself chewing the blueberries a lot and picking them out of my teeth. Also the sweetness and the tartness plays off better with the strawberries and chocolate. My dad orders the banana split and he loves that, nothing special its just a banana split. He also gets the butter pecan concrete and loves it as well. As for sizes they used to have only large and regular but now I order small. That is enough for me. My advice is order the snowmonster, you will not be disappointed.

My second favorite ice cream place next to Yogurtini. I came to the new location they recently opened on Shawnee Mission Parkway in Shawnee, KS. They have loyalty cards that works like Yogurtini. Where every dollar you spend, you would accumulate points and when you get 50 points you get a free one. I like getting their sundaes. The first time I came here, I got the Stolen Brownie Sundae which consisted of homemade brownies covered with hot fudge, roasted pecans, and topped with a cherry. The hot fudge make it really rich and too sweet for my taste, but overall it was a nice treat. Therefore, the second time I came here, I got a basic kids size vanilla sundae with cookie dough topping. It was the perfect amount of sweetness I could handle. I would definitely come back for their other specialty ice cream and to add on to my loyalty card! ^_^

Love to try the monthly specials and the specialty items they have. Currently they offer a "drumstick concrete"...soooo good. after getting it 3 times in a row...needed to get something new. Opted for the James Brownie Funky Jackhammer....vanilla custard, peanut butter, hot fudge and a brownie.....wonderful! Unfortunately, I usually share it with a friend, so I don't get to eat the whole thing...but at least it's half the calories!! It's usually busy but the line moves fast. One of my favorite frozen custard places!!

I love finding hidden gems, although It isn't very trendy in my area we decided to check it out because we love finding good dessert places for after our dates. I love that it had a drive thru but also that is had a cute retro looking exterior to park and get it out if you wanted to. Although all the employees were pretty young (or so I think) they were all very polite, fast, and professional. I got the James brownie funky jackhammer and omggg! I didn't know how much I loved custard until I tasted this. the nice warm fudge and brownies were the perfect combo for me. My S/O got the jitterbug concrete because he's really into anything that taste like coffee and I've gotta say, I might not be the most fond of coffee flavored stuff but this one definitely won me over. we will most definitely be returning.

There's not much seating options between outside and inside so you might have to sit in your car or on the curb. The ice cream is really good. I tried the peanut butter cookie dough and it was amazing. I tried their waffle cone and it never got soggy and stayed nice and crunchy, probably one of my favorite waffle cones! Also got the cheesecake fantasy which has cheesecake ice cream with strawberries and blueberries with graham crackers and it was really good but I don't think it warranted the price for the size at all. Recommend if you want to choose what goes into your ice cream but I think there are cheaper places with plenty of more options out there.

I didn't break a tooth, but honestly with mixin's like that, we're all playing with fire. You ever try to bite a frozen solid brownie? It's not fun. It's sad; especially when you're paying $10 for 3 scoops of ice cream - excellent as cream that it is I might add. I ordered the mint chip signature, and apple pie signature with cake batter ice cream, and they both weren't mixed well at all. Keep an eye on your ice cream wizard, and keep 'em honest. From now on, I'll be sure to let them know I likes my teeth!

There's 4 street parking stalls out front on Johnson Dr. The inside is clean & AC was nice on hot days. The girl behind the counter was nice & gave us samples of the gelato that we were curious about. Wifey selected a med cup of dark chocolate and strawberry. I got the med cup with pistachio and coconut. We watched the girl making our cups and noticed she gave more of one flavor than the other in each of our cups. I was a lil disappointed about that. It ended up being 2/3 dark chocolate and 1/3 strawberry in wifey's cup. There was 2/3 pistachio and 1/3 coconut in mine. I like even amounts if you're gonna have a cup with 2 flavors. Lil bit of one flavor mixed with the second flavor. I ended up with a bit more pistachio than I expected. Wifey definitely had more dark chocolate than strawberry. I think next time we'll ask if they can scoop closer to even amounts of each. Although the total amount of gelato was more than worth the cost. We did sit inside since outside was pretty hot and almost no breeze. The place had 3 tables. One had seating for 4 and the other 2 had seating for 2 each. When we entered one of the 2 seater tables had 2 ladies that were jus sitting there with drinks and talking and laughing really loudly. It was echoing in the small room. Other than that it was nice in that cozy lil shop. We liked how the girl behind the counter was patient and welcomed us when we told her it was our first time there. I wanna try some other combos next time. This place reminds me of the lil gelato place we liked back home in Hawaii. A Hui Hou!

Being good still I didn't sample the ice cream. I was super boring with my order of black coffee. Hey it's nearly Feb and I'm still no sugar no junk!! That's a win in itself. Enough about me. This place or the other Golden Scoop not only serves up gold in a cup it feeds your sole. In our current state of humanity all around all that drama ends at this door. I LOVE THAT!!! Super blessed to have this opportunity to be served with great enthusiasm and passion in every encounter here. Im not sure it's an every Saturday thing but live music by Anna Ray was my cherry on top of my Saturday.... I was a day off of a great pun. She played her keyboard while I enjoyed my book and coffee. I got to stay to see her reward of hot cocoa. It was very well earned and glad to see her tip jar appearing full. She played several easily recognizable hits and classics. Each time I have been to the Golden Scoop, I have gotten top-notch service with a smile and pride in their product, but mostly, the eagerness in just being on the team. The staff scoops ice cream and serves coffee drinks with the happiest of faces. They are the absolute best! Yeah, yeah, what about the ice cream? Artisanal flavors made on site, ranging from the mundane (think mint chocolate chip - good but yawn) to the creative. I am a sucker for the Salted Caramel Crunch, a subtle blend of caramel without the syrupy ribbon having to run through it. This past visit had my lovely wife getting a large scoop of what was titled 'Home Run', which was described as being 'very peanut buttery'. And they weren't kidding: vanilla with chunks of Snickers and Butterfinger made for a heavenly flavor combo. Love the creativity and execution of that product Neither one of our scoops had a long life span as we gobbled/slurped them down quick-quick. There is plenty of room in their dining area for you to enjoy your ice cream or coffee as well as a couple of picnic-style tables right out front (with umbrellas). Parking is super easy, and there's even a drive-through, which is a nice touch. The ice cream is great, the space is great, and Golden Scoop's proud staff makes this spot a must destination.
