I've been coming to this Andy's for 3 years now. The staff has been fairly friendly and enjoyable to work with. The drive through line can be long but typically goes by fairly quickly. I have never waited more than 15 minutes. They keep the front of the building pretty clean and the trash cans are not overly full. The custard is typically always delicious, minus the one time they had no mint syrup, how could they do that to me! All jokes aside, they always load up on the cookie dough and they always have new specials you can choose from, they such as wide variety for every occasion. I have been here a lot more recently while hanging out w the dog and taking advantage of the last bit of good weather. We always get a jackhammer but have ventured out w other items and they have all been delicious. The base keeps the consistency of all the ice creams tasting great. Unfortunately it does tend to melt very quickly and can be quite costly after a few trips. The staff is really friendly and love seeing the dogs though so that makes it easy to come back. So no secret there's another frozen custard concrete place down the road that is my favorite but I wanted to give this a second shot. There's also a couple of frozen custard places in St Louis that are legendary and delicious. I think the vanilla custard here needs more vanilla. Maybe that's just me. My wife got a mixer with Brownie and stuff in it... She liked it. I tried the Snow Monster based on a recommendation and added caramel. The strawberries are really delicious.,. Not just mush. Have to say I completely enjoyed the snow monster... But maybe next time I'd add some coconut or pineapple... I think that'd be good. The drive up was not long like usual.... Likely it will be tonight since it's hot outside. Their ordering at the pay window seemed not really efficient... But they can come out with a tablet to take your order. Andy's is a chain of frozen custard around Kansas City. The custard is smooth, creamy and really good. Be prepared to wait inline for drive thru or window service when it's nice outside. Today is a nice, warmer day, so I decided to take my two young children and dog to Andy's for a treat. We live close enough to walk. One of the kids got double chocolate in a cup, and the other got the sprinkle sundae. The dog got the pup cup. We walked right up and ordered. Our ice cream was ready in a couple of minutes. This Andy's has really gone downhill. Customer service has been subpar (I'm sure they're short staffed like everywhere else but it shouldn't be so incredibly difficult to use a reward) and this last visit we were very disappointed with our custard. We have been fans of Andy's long before they made their way to Kansas City and was a must visit every time we made our way to Southern Missouri. My favorite has always been the Snow Monster (a concrete with melted chocolate chip and REAL strawberries). However, my most recent visit will deter me from trying it again anytime soon. The custard itself seemed off, almost like it left a syrupy film in your mouth that was too sweet. Not only that, there was not a SINGLE strawberry to be found in my concrete, just a faint trace of some strawberry juice/syrup. Came to visit my mother and sister-in law and fortunately for me they live right around the corner from Andy's! I kept seeing it as we drove around and finally popped in and OH MY HEAVEN was this THE BEST frozen ANYTHING to ever touch my lips! :) I ordered a frozen custard creation, the Ooey Gooey but substituted almonds for Oreo's and it was to die for! I want to compare it to a blizzard from DQ but that would be an injustice to Andy's! As the creaminess of the frozen yogurt mixed with what tasted like homemade caramel and all of the delicious sweet toppings was absolutely amazing! I literally couldn't even talk after my first bite. It was one of those moments where I just sat there in complete awe, like a love at first taste sort of feeling swept over me. I ordered I believe a medium size and it was very sweet I had to eat it in three sessions. When I go back for a visit, I would definitely get a small size or perhaps less toppings. I also loved the nostalgic-ness of the venue. They had a drive thru but we parked and walked up just to get the true feel of Andy's. It was great! We went late in the evening, about 730 or so. There was one car in the drive through ahead of us. By the time we figured out what we wanted we were able to pull right up. I thought it was great that you order at the window. Very personal, old skool touch. The custard was fantastic! Smooth and creamy... Way better than ice cream. Hubs got a pb chocolate concoction that was outstanding and my triple chocolate was so chocolatey that it was almost too much...... Their drive-through doesn't offer the opportunity to order in advance, so it moves slower than one might expect. They deliver a quality product, although I didn't think it was superior to Culver's or Custard's Last Stand, both in Lee's Summit. read more
