It's not god-awful, but our entire experience was just...subpar. To start off, the service is not great. The entire place seems to be staffed by teenagers (not a bad thing!) who have not been trained to run the place well (a bad thing) and who don't know what's on offer (a very bad thing). We asked if we could substitute the cheddar cheese that comes on the burger for American cheese. She didn't know and went to ask her manager, then returned to inform us that they don't have American cheese. What kind of Americana-themed diner doesn't have American cheese?! The food was also just fine. The burger patties look like they came straight out of the freezer in a school cafeteria, but they tasted surprisingly good! Well-seasoned and not rubbery. The buns were fine. The fries were good, beer-battered and flaky but quite undercooked. The soda tasted like nothing - barely even carbonated water. To add to the (non-literal) sour taste left by the food, the ice cream was just so-so. The custard was bland and the ice cream is quite expensive, especially for not being made in-house. Boo! The ambience is cute but it seems like someone just googled "50s Americana" and added the first 15 Amazon listings to their cart to decorate the place. As another reviewer said, I am EXTREMELY disappointed to see what seems like a local institution advertising with hideous AI-generated posters. Is it really that hard to take a picture of a burger or an ice cream cone? I wouldn't recommend this place. Take a trip north to Danny's Burger Shack for a good meal instead!

On my last visit I tried a couple of seasonal flavors-check their socials for updates. The oatmeal raisin cookie ice cream tasted exactly like an oatmeal raisin cookie. I'd get it again. I also had to try the apple pie ice cream. It had chunks of actual apple pie in it. Crust. Apples. Delicious. I wish it was a year round flavor. Highly recommend stopping in. I definitely want to come back more often!

Each time I have been to the Golden Scoop, I have gotten top-notch service with a smile and pride in their product, but mostly, the eagerness in just being on the team. The staff scoops ice cream and serves coffee drinks with the happiest of faces. They are the absolute best! Yeah, yeah, what about the ice cream? Artisanal flavors made on site, ranging from the mundane (think mint chocolate chip - good but yawn) to the creative. I am a sucker for the Salted Caramel Crunch, a subtle blend of caramel without the syrupy ribbon having to run through it. This past visit had my lovely wife getting a large scoop of what was titled 'Home Run', which was described as being 'very peanut buttery'. And they weren't kidding: vanilla with chunks of Snickers and Butterfinger made for a heavenly flavor combo. Love the creativity and execution of that product Neither one of our scoops had a long life span as we gobbled/slurped them down quick-quick. There is plenty of room in their dining area for you to enjoy your ice cream or coffee as well as a couple of picnic-style tables right out front (with umbrellas). Parking is super easy, and there's even a drive-through, which is a nice touch. The ice cream is great, the space is great, and Golden Scoop's proud staff makes this spot a must destination.

Super blessed to have this opportunity to be served with great enthusiasm and passion in every encounter here. Im not sure it's an every Saturday thing but live music by Anna Ray was my cherry on top of my Saturday.... I was a day off of a great pun. She played her keyboard while I enjoyed my book and coffee. I got to stay to see her reward of hot cocoa. It was very well earned and glad to see her tip jar appearing full. She played several easily recognizable hits and classics. Her parents gave me a flyer and okay it being online so check her out!!! Let's go yelpers we can get her followers up a few notches! @annaraymusic Instagram. They have constantly changing flavors, which they post on Facebook and Instagram. On one of those scorching afternoons, I stopped by and tried my go-to, cookies and cream, along with a flavor I'd never even heard of before: mamey. The cookies and cream was a pass for me. It just wasn't particularly creamy or decadent, which is what I'm looking for with a classic like cookies and cream. The mamey, though, that was unique. I'd never even heard of mamey before, but the flavor immediately made me think of fall. It has this naturally sweet, creamy, almost sweet potato/pumpkin-like quality to it. Honestly, I could see mamey ice cream becoming a fall or Thanksgiving staple based on the flavor alone. It just fits that profile. I normally stick with my go-tos, but this is part of what makes trying new foods an experience for me: discovering unfamiliar fruits and flavors and improving my palate. The mamey was definitely the winner and especially refreshing on such a hot day. For this experience alone, 3 stars. But I can see plenty of room for that rating to go up. Maybe I caught them on an off day, or maybe I just need to find the right flavors for me. Either way, the mamey alone gave me a reason to try them again.
