This ice cream stand has been a long standing staple in blue springs. I haven't been in years but stopped in for my favorite blue bunny Krazy cookie dough. They were unfortunately out. We stopped for custard here after eating at Backyard Burger for the last time next-door. The staff here was really great! They all had wonderful attitudes and were very helpful. We got the peanut butter fudge sundae thing, and I thought it was ice cream until it was almost gone because the custard was served way too cold. It should be smoother and creamier. This is the only place I'll get ice cream/custard in Blue Springs. I love that you can get a small sized concrete. The flavor combinations are great too. My favorites are Hound Dog and David's Cookie with vanilla custard. It's always fun to see what the flavors of the month are, and I'll order the flavor of the month every once in a while. I went to go get ice cream with my friends and right as we walked through the door, all we could smell the sweet aroma and absolute pristine dining location. After that we went to the counter to order and we were met by this amazing employee. His name was Parker, Parker Sanders was so good at taking our orders, he was so he was so meticulous with what he was doing and when we actually had our ice cream, it tasted like heaven. I've only ever had dessert here so I'll be reviewing it just based off that. I've been going to the one in blue Springs since 2000 when I first moved to independence. I'm giving it five stars because it is what it is a custard stand and a very delicious one at that. I have a lot of fond memories of going there after date night to get dessert with my ex. I like the fact that they have the different sizes of custard servings and an insane amount of mix-ins They have some really great special concretes like the triple berry , but I almost always end up going off on my own, which means some type of berry mix-in with peanut butter or peanut butter cups and bananas, although I am considering my next concrete to be lemon with blueberries and white chocolate flakes. Their cappuccino flavoring is pretty good too. I have yet to go all in and get one of their banana splits. But I'm not dead yet so we'll see. They usually have kids running the inside, but they're always friendly and helpful and I've never had a bad experience going there. It is definitely worth the trip to stop by, especially now that it's summer. read more

Plus they have real scoop ice cream for people who don't want custard. Only downside was it wasn't the cleanest place but at least it had indoor seating! No bathroom though so be aware. Before Andy's came in down the street this was the hang out. It was by far the most exciting place to go for a cold treat. This is still a great place but since they don't have as much business as they did, the custard doesn't seem to be as consistently fresh as it was. After it sits in their machines awhile you notice it gets ice chunks and seems more grainy. When you get their custard fresh straight out of the machine it is by far the best. Noone can match the amazing smooth texture and rich flavor. I do miss being a regular customer here, and if they could get more consistent with the quality I would make this our regular hangout spot once again. read more

I've been going to Custard's for over 30 years. I grew up in Lee's Summit (Class of '81) but moved to St. Louis in 1989 and became a regular of the legendary Ted Drewes Frozen Custard (fortunately, I only lived about 10 blocks from Ted's at Chippewa & Hampton). When I frequently returned to LS I satisfied my frozen custard addiction at Custard's Last Stand. During that time their quality and consistency have never wavered. Their frozen custard is on par with Ted Drewes and that is a great thing! I've been back in LS since 2010 and Mr. A moved in about 4 years ago. I tried them but Custard's is just plain better and has more variety! Now I lived in Blue Springs for the last 2 years and Custard's Last Stand there is just as good. All I can say is if you want the BEST frozen custard in the Kansas City area then Custard's Last Stand is your place! Take it from me, I'm a frozen custard connoisseur.
