This place made me miss my kid's entire birthday party. It's ran by knuckle dragging adolescents. I pre ordered a birthday cake for pick up, when i arrived no one had a clue where it was. After being told they may "find it" I was told that someone forgot to make it. They offered to make it within the next 20 minutes, I let them know I needed to drive three girls to their birthday party and would come back for the cake. I got a call 30 minutes later saying that the cake could not be made because my order did not come in in time. After finally tracking down and speaking to the manager, she told me there was a "glitch in the system" and that my order actually never came in. None of this could possibly be true, being as my receipt was in the shop when I arrived. They all acknowledged that my order had arrived at the store, but no one bothered making it. Avoid this place at all cost. While I was waiting around a woman arrived asking for a dairy free option, the girl behind the counter said she did not know if they had one, and offered "sugar free". I walked over and pointed out the dairy free option to the woman who came in. I don't work there, but standing there for 10 minutes I was more versed in the produce than their paid employees. Absolute train wreck of a business. I ended up driving frantically to Hyvee to grab last minute cakes as opposed to having nothing. I stopped by this location last night to redeem my birthday offer and for some reason, my phone number suddenly wasn't in the system and the email pulled up without a barcode. I've been a member of the "club" for years now and never had an issue. The woman I believe is the manager said, "Maybe it'll load for your next visit" as if I wouldn't know that's the general Customer Service "kiss off" (not to mention that offer's only good for so many days past your birthday). I asked for a cup to put my overflow ice cream in from the waffle cone that was melting while having to stand there while she faked attempting to be doing something. She gave me the smallest cup and I had to ask for a lid. Some older gentleman came in and they went and sat in the dining area. I thought it was an interview of some sort, but then they started small talking and obviously knew each other outside of a professional setting. The younger "kid" who made my ice cream needs a raise though! He was friendly, enthusiastic, and professional. My friend and I came in to grab some ice cream on our girls day out. Around 2p on 12/11. When we came in, the guy who was working immediately shouted to me "OMG you look just like my old highschool math teacher". We just kind of laughed and I said "I definitely wasn't". Then he accused me of lying to him. Then we asked for a sample of a flavor. As he got it, he said "just so you know I failed math". I said oh I'm sorry but I definitely wasn't your tutor". Then we went to order our "Love it" size ice cream with our 2 different flavors. He cut us off to tell us that we can only choose 1 flavor per order and if we wanted 2 different flavors, we would have to order them separately. I got confused as when we looked on ordering them online before hand, it gave us the option for multiple flavors. He told us it was because the owner wanted to charge the customers per flavor instead. So we ended up just leaving. And when we went to go walk out the door, he shouted again "I still failed math". I had the most weirdest experience I have ever had. I was the only one waiting in line when I arrived as the clerk was already helping someone else. Right before he finished, another customer walked up behind me. When he was done, he stated "I am helping the customer behind you, not you." He walked to the back and got someone else to help me. The two of us were very disappointed in the ice cream (no flavor), the cost (crazy high, over $10 for two plain cones), and the service (they didn't even have change for a twenty when we got to the register). When did CORN SYRUP become an ingredient at CSC? They definitely aren't special anymore. I can buy corn syrup ice cream at the grocery store. Came here on a Friday afternoon, 6/22/2012, with a BOGO coupon. Asked the girl for half Orange Dreamsicle and half Strawberry. She says "We don't have dreamsicle" Me: "Yes, you do, it's right here." I don't know enough words to accurately describe the level of disappointment experienced tonight. It's hot right now. Like "I wish I owned an ice cream store" hot. So we went for ice cream right after dinner... obviously. Along with a bunch of other people. Obviously. Let's start with flavor options. Chocolate? No. Vanilla? Sorry, we're out. Ok Fine I'll have the founders favorite in a waffle bowl. Sorry, no waffle bowls. Ok, waffle cone? Luckily they had 3 waffle cones left. It gets better! They then go to make the ice cream... all the ice cream being used is sitting out on the counter instead of the ice cream cooler. So it's more like milkshake than ice cream. It gets better... Cold stone is (was) great because they give you a heaping serving. Well, today they also gave us heaping servings, which immediately melted down the sides of the cups, which they placed on the counter covered in melted ice cream. They weren't out of napkins so I used 15 or so napkins to wipe the milk sauce from the sides of the bowls while they watched me. I wrapped the bowls in several layers of napkins for the ride home, which didn't matter because they immediately soaked into the bowl of milk in my hands and I spent the car ride home letting it pour onto my shirt and lap so that it wasn't a total mess. By the time I got home, the bowls of pecans in milk were so covered in mess and milk soaked napkins that it ended up being a better use of time to throw them away. I can't be an ice cream enthusiast, I'm allergic to milk. But, I sneak it. I eat about nay flavor at Cold Stone Creamery, but the cotton candy flavor looks cool in the bowl. It's blue, and bright, and pretty. Shouldn't ice cream be pretty? Mixed with some roasted almonds...OMG... The staff are friendly at this establishment. They keep it clean. There's plenty of ice cream shop tables and chairs, with an outside area, as well. The menu is behind the counter, and huge. Cakes to choose from, as well. First off they didn't bother to greet the only black couple in the store, but when a white couple walks in the whole teams peps up and gives them a warm welcome. They can't say they were busy because no one was in there besides one other couple. They also didn't speak to the Hispanic couple that walked in 5 mins after us. Secondly, they didn't even ask us if we wanted a cone or extra topping or anything. They acted as if they just wanted us to buy and get out. Honestly whoever owns this cold Stone Creamery needs to train their workers on diversity and customer service. I love Cold Stone but this location is GARBAGE!!!!!!!! This was one of the first places I took my daughter after moving here. The location of this one is brilliant, as it is next to a nice playground. The inside was like all the rest of them and the employees are upbeat, friendly, and most of all patient with choosy kids. There are two notes I'd make; 1.
