Stay far away from Andrus Transportation if your an expierienced driver. If your just starting out then you might want to apply here but keep in mind that they will lie to you from the beginning and they are very unorginized which means if there is any change from your daily routine, you have to keep reminding them about the money they owe you which could be a never ending battle to get your money for any of your extra work. From the beginning they told me (the recruiters at their Salt lake terminal) and 5 other new recruits that this is a Mon to Fri position with weekends off which turned out to be a lie. Its actually Sunday to Thursday. They also told us that if we drive more that 11,000 miles per month, that they will give us an extra .02 cents per mile bonus for all the miles riven for that month, which turned out to be another lie. They were always telling us during orientation that we must make sure that we drive the 11,000 mile so we can get the bonus but how can we do that if the runs we get are not up to the driver and are determined by our driver manager. I was counting on the 11,000 mile bonus which was roughly $300 - $350 a month on our checks because the base pay is shit! They start expierienced drivers out with 41 cents per mile and thats if your driving over 10yrs and I have been driving over 20yrs. Also if you live in Las Vegas and are on the Cabazon water run, it is another LIE! I was only getting the Cabazon run like 3 times a week at the most wich is the furthest run they have without going into the LA area which will cause you to run out of your 11hrs of driving and you have to shut down on the I-15 comming back to Vegas and then you cant work a full day the next day. This job was advertised as a Cabazon water run on Craigslist! Also keep in mind that they want thier trucks and tractors up in St. george, UT. every month for an A or B service and if you do that your losing a full day of work and getting under $100.00 for 8hrs for that day. Another thing is that My driver manager who I had was Mary and was very unprofessional, calling drivers and yelling at them and or being extremely rude. I've had several drivers who can attest to that. The lies that were told to me were so bad that I gave them one last chance. They gave me another short run which I refused because by doing these short runs, I was never able to get the 11,000 mi. for those months. I gave them enough chances to give me some good runs (4 months of my time) which I and everyone in my orientation class NEVER got the .02 cent bonus! When I refused the load and wanted that cabazon load which was promised to me from the beginning, they told me to bring the truck up to St. George so we can discuss where they can send me to get better miles. I already knew that this was another lie so before I left Vegas, I cleaned all of my things out of the truck and already had 4 jobs lined up. When I arrived in St. George they told me that they are terminating me. I said that they cant do that because I quit because of them breaching the verbal contract that they had with me. If I wanted I could have got my lawyer involved but this srubby company was not worth my time or effort because they have already wasted 4 months of my time. I was an owner operator for 8yrs or so and driving over 23yrs total so I know a thing or two about contracts wheather they be written or verbal and I write down anything that is offered to me at the beginning of any employment to have a record because many companies lie. So far I was the only driver in my orientation that had the balls enough to quit or had money in the bank to cover any down time in my employment to cover my bills. This company is for newbies or for desperate drivers looking for a job. The fact is that there are many, many, many other companies that pay much higher than Andrus and I would stay far away from them unless ou like the long hours, low pay and being lied to. Even the cabazon run which was the best run was only paying drivers $216 dollars GROSS, for a minimum of 12 hrs per day and that was before taxes. There are so many other bad things about this company, that I dont have time here to tell you about them all such as Cameras in the trucks that record the driver, being told where to get fuel, asking to do extra work which is a mission to get paid for, hunting for an empty trailer in the morning for up to 2hrs and thats even before you start your run, drivers fighting over empty trailers ECT!!!...... Dont waste your time and stay away from Andrus and go with a better company. read more
