I made a phone call and spoke with Patty, who gave me a few options of times for our ride. We had a group of three-two adults and a teenager. (On the day of the ride, we we met another group of three that joined us.) She gave me instructions on where to go on the day of our ride, and sent them again via text with GPS coordinates so we could easily meet our guide. Mike, our guide, was fantastic. He was friendly, took some time up front to give us a quick orientation and then asked each of us about our horse riding experience so he could match us up with an appropriate horse. He was patient with us, as some of us had very little experience. The trail itself was not all the way flat, but not so challenging that a novice rider would struggle. There are a few areas where we went up hill and then a few where we went down. Mike advised us on proper posture to make it easier on the horse as we navigated some of that hilly terrain. At one point, he recognized that the teen in the group was getting a little frustrated with his horse. He gave him some instruction and then engaged him in conversation about music-something they had in common. I appreciated that Mike was able to include everyone in the group in some way. He's a good dude. After the ride, we were given some carrots to feed our horses. I loved that part! I think the horses appreciated it too. This may not be an activity that we will do every time we visit St. George, but it will definitely be on that we remember forever and bring along some friends to show them the beauty of Snow Canyon from a different perspective.

As a gold member I was offered no water bottles during my stead and instead had to pay 7.00 per bottle. 2. I was out of toothpaste and they didn't have any at the front desk nor the small shop to purchase. 3. My room had a large potato chip laying in the floor from the previous guest. 4. The bar and restaurant has a staff meeting while customers are there waiting for service. The most important part of servicing your customer is the part where you service the customer. 5. The staff is constantly chatting to one another and not expecting any needs of their guest.. front desk is often on their cell phone. 6. The fries at the bar are okay - but they have so much garlic that they need to be served with an aioli or mayo based sauce instead of ketchup. You can tell this place is poorly managed and lacks structure and procedures it could be great and charming but it's just okay.

They asked me how I liked Sagestone Spa, and cheerily said, "Good news, we have an amazing spa with a lot of the same staff." I said, "It's not the same. It's not the same at all." I hated Black Desert. I hate what they're doing to Ivins. It's vulgar and crass and not at all the reason I have been going out to the desert for a visit for the past 27 years. Black Desert is the place for golf bros, not for people like me. It's just like Palm Springs now. They had a singer at a bar in the lobby and the Golf Bro swagger is not for me. They're absolutely going to ruin Red Mountain, too. They're going to litter up Snow Canyon. I like the views best at Red Mountain. I have visited that spot many times over the past 27 years. I loved how it was walkable to the entrance of Snow Canyon and had unobstructed views of the red sand cliffs and a lava field with a trail. It was so peaceful sitting in my room with the door open, overlooking the lava field. Or lying in a hammock while watching the sunset colors on the red cliffs, or the moonrise, or a storm roll in. Losing my peaceful place to this overblown and overpriced "perfection is not for me." So, ultimately, they lost a customer. Also, it's the desert, and I just don't see how golf in the desert is sustainable with there already being a ton of golf. Everyone else can enjoy this, but I'm going to cry over the peace that was. 1 star because the staff were really nice and listened to me being upset about Red Mountain Resort being destroyed by the company they work for. But only 1 star because none of them have a deep understanding of what I loved about Red Mountain Resort with its funky older buildings, peace, and quiet. On Saturday, we came back to the room in the early afternoon to grab some water and things and then head back out. As we were walking into our room, we noticed the housekeepers were there, and it was very odd to see a purse, a tablet, and a plastic bag with stuff in it outside of our room. Housekeepers are not supposed to have personal belongings on their shift. We didn't think anything of it at the time, they ended up leaving before we did. Hours later, we come back and realize that our luggage had been touched. My luggage was unzipped and on the ground before I left. I come back to see that my stuff was put in my luggage. It was zipped up and standing up on its wheels. Which was very odd as I have never experienced that. My mom also went to her luggage and noticed the same thing that both of her luggage's were zipped up, which we thought was very odd since housekeeping should not be touching our personal belongings. I go into the bathroom to the side cabinet and notice my jewelry box was zipped up. I told my mom and she went to go check her jewelry box that was in her luggage that was zipped up and sadly she opens it to realize that a vintage ring, that's 25 years old, and a necklace from her best friend who passed away, was missing. We immediately called the front desk as we wanted to file a report. We later went to the front desk and spoke to a gentleman who then had his security manager come and filed the report. We told them how we thought it was very odd that housekeeping should be bringing their personal belongings on their shift and we also told them how violated we felt with them touching our personal belongings. We were told that HR would be involved, and housekeeping management would be involved as well. The next steps were the housekeepers would be spoken to, security footage would be reviewed, and someone would be in contact with my mom. It has been over three weeks and no one has contacted my mom. Last week I reached out to a gentleman who is a founding partner of Black Desert resort and explained the situation and asked for help. I also asked that the least they can do is refund my mom for this trouble and the poor communication. I have asked three times now for them to refund my mom due to the lack of communication and urgency of this incident. Other hotels and resorts have refunded customers for way less and I shouldn't have to ask multiple times due to this unfortunate inconvenience. I'm hoping this will be handled soon. I will not be recommending this place to family or friends.
