I had my Hollow body electric worked on - the cable connector had unscrewed and fell inside the guitar. I had trained on You Tube videos and I had tried for a month to fix it myself - almost an impossible task on this thin body guitar. I really wasn't sure of the cost of fixing it. The owner - salesman - guitar tech was there - repairing Guitars is his Super Power! He fixed it handed it back " no charge " I almost passed out I had spent an inordinate amount of time trying to repair that guitar and he hands it back like it was nothing. Man thank God for this guy! I shopped for bout 15 minutes- new strings some cables, a product for refreshing my fingerboard - D'Addario Hydrate - and some Dunlop 65 guitar polish/ cleaner ( amazing stuff) and plucked on a six string banjo tuned like a guitar - never seen one - funfun! I could make those sounds on Neil Young's Song Old Man - very cool! Well Local shops are the best! You Tube and Amazon was absolutely no help with my Washburn. I would like to suggest two things to the folks at Andrew's Music. 1) On your Facebook page, not make fun of students and parents who bring you an instrument they think needs repair. 2) Not call out local band teachers' names on Facebook in a negative way. They are the ones whose students and parents bring you business. You should strive to honor their teachers' requests to the best of your ability, for the best possible success of the students involved. After all, they are their teacher, and you are not. Also, take to heart the review from Aaron B. (I do not know him) I read on here that you used to be in the classroom. Did your concert bands make straight Ones at UIL Concert & Sightreading? Perhaps, if you would like to call out band directors for their equipment recommendations, you should be in the classroom teaching day-to-day, all the amazing, enthusiastic students who come through the door wanting to learn and be good at something musical. When your students come in with an awful mouthpiece and they are unable to make a good sound, match the other players, play in tune (despite a perfect embouchure), perhaps you wouldn't care. I don't know. In the best interest of each student, good teachers care. So should good music suppliers. From the video I saw, and the language you used, it seems like you could not care less about student success. read more

Total joke. Lower end gear nothing in the upper tear guitar/bass/drums wise. What they do have is almost 100% markup . Went to buy a pack of strings that cost 5$ at Texas music emporium, guitar center, and best buy and they are selling for 8.25. I even said dude that's almost a 100% markup and his response was " well you save gas by not driving over there". Imagine how much they mark up everything else. Andrew's Music needs a negative star rating of horrible hack job! NEVER take ANY instrument to get repadded by this "shop"! The owner ripped me off by not standing by his work. My Yamaha Custom was repadded with cheap, inferior pads, no tone boosters, attached with rivets, and leaking like crazy. I took the horn back a few times to get the instrument repadded again. The owner said that it needed a few minor adjustments at $30 each. I told him that I wanted a FULL REFUND for my tenor and my alto sax. I also wanted to sue this establishment that screwed up both of my horns that I make a living with. Realizing that small claims court would take too long and I would have to leave the tenor sax in its state of DISREPAIR. I ended up having to take my tenor sax to Fleming's Music Repair and pay for a REAL repad by Steven Rodriguez. I will make sure to tell anyone that wants instrument repairs done to stay far away from Andrew's Music in Porter, TX. THIS GUY IS NOT A GOOD REPAIRMAN! read more

We've been going to Andrews for the last 6 months for repairs and restringing and can't recommend them enough. They are a gem to have on this side of town. They have taken the time to work through and help us resolve multiple issues on multiple instruments but especially my sons bass guitar. We were convinced he needed new pick ups but when we described the issue they said it could be an issue with a switch. They opened the guitar on the spot and checked the connections. It actually was just dirty and after a quick cleaning it was good as new. $5.41 cents later we were on our way. We also had an issue with a bridge on the same bass and they called Fender on our behalf and told them of the issue and got them to send a new bridge to the store free of charge since our guitar was less than a year old. We didn't even buy the guitar at Andrews and they still helped us. Looking forward to a long term relationship with this store. Howie and Andrew have done a great job with our repairs and sometimes can even fix our issues on the spot! i can't recommend getting your repairs done at Andrews Music because of my personal experience. I brought in a guitar that was in pieces and stated I wanted them installe, and wired u. one of the arts being a floating floyed rose bridge. I asked to have the guitar be strung and tuned after the work, and what I got was a floyed rose bridge that had not had the intonation adjusted on. all saddles were fully flush in furthest back position causing terrible intonation. some of the parts were missing and work was not done and they charged me $350 as it was complete and ready to play. when I called and talked to the tech. he got defensive with me and told me he did exactly what was on the ticket and that if I wantedso els I should have told them. well I didn't appreciate the fact that they "forgot" to do some of the work and that I have to tell a suppose seasoned tech. that if you install a bridge on a guitar and have to tune the guitar a setup is customary and intonation being set is a process that must be done. if I have to tell a tech. to do all the steps and how to do there job, I wou hate to see what they are doing to the customers that don't know the technical side of there guitars. now I had to do my own set up and install the parts they didn't install I asked for on the repair order.$325 is nearly half the pric of the guitar brand new. i will say that the young man and lady behind the counter are very nice and helpful but you will pay a hefty markup and that I understand. if you want to run your own business you should be able to markup your items and make a profit. don't go there for repairs read more

Steer clear. They do not listen to the area music directors' (college-degreed professionals) recommendations for quality music instruments and will sell your students cheap, low quality instruments just to make a sale. Cheaply made instruments are the biggest reason that students can't progress like they should, leading many to give up music after a short while, but these guys have no problem selling those cheaply made instruments with no regard to what's in the best musical interest of the student. read more

I'm not a musician, but my kids are. They have everything for band students, and if they need to order it---you won't wait long. My oldest took guitar lessons from Andrew's and really enjoyed it. I used to love Andrew's music.. For years I have supported this business unquestionably. Nowadays they are more concerned on making a profit than they are genuinely helping their community of musicians. Everything is overpriced everything is low quality and sadly this establishment is no longer worth supporting. Beware to those who know nothing about music gear or instruments, you will be exploited in this establishment for your $$$, then discarded. The staff is friendly, and they have basic wind instrument supplies. However, I don't recommend them for high quality instrument repair. I brought my Buffet R-13 in for a repair and was told they "would figure it out." No way I am letting them experiment on my clarinet. They also recently messed up my husband's Bach Stardivarius during a chemical clean. One of the valves has stuck ever since, and it had no issues before this. read more

The guy with gray hair behind the counter always speaks to me in a condescending tone or makes sexist jokes to my boyfriend about woman being in foul moods if I don't laugh at the jokes he directs at me when I come in. Last time I was there (alone) he was all chummy with the male customers but when I asked him for special version of sheet music, he pulled up an easy version telling me it was only true version. When I explained more about the version I needed he got an attitude and pulled up a video saying he had played it before. When I showed him a video of the special version I needed, he stopped acting like such an ass about it... but then very rudely "man-splained" to me IN DETAIL how to send a message on YouTube to ask the person where they got their sheet music. Won't be going here EVER again. And gray haired dude, if you ever read this: Its 2016. You need to have more respect for women. No one cares for your sexist jokes. Obviously you were wrong about your version being the only one out there. Maybe you were having an ego crisis or a bad day, but you don't need to speak down to people like they're morons just bc they know something you don't. Humble yourself. read more
