Was sent liability paperwork and apt which listed the incorrect trial lesson. Called 2x asking about it prior and if we needed to reschedule to the correct lesson and also about the paperwork which kept setting to parent versus minor. Also emailed twice. No response to any of the 4 efforts and when the apt came and went, nothing from the school, teacher, or staff. It's a bummer, it seemed like this could have been a really great option for our family but after 2 vms and 2 emails still no response over a week later.

My…read moreinitial interest in Kingwood music school was to learn from an experienced teachers who was stable in their field. Meaning I didn't have to worry about switching teachers due to them returning to school or taking on fulltime employment elsewhere. I would come to regret this!!! Kingwood music school is a two story building with multiple teachers. Sometimes it has an odd smell, like spoiled milk or something. The women in the front desk are friendly and helpful. They provided good information and are responsive to questions. The teacher and student population are diverse in age and race. My biggest drawback was the teacher. As I mentioned I took violin here after taking lessons 8 months elsewhere. Prior to starting at Kingwood music school, I enjoyed learning and the challenge of the violin. However, I decided to leave after feeling more frustration and annoyed with the teacher. She is so meticulous and tedious about everything , we spent months going over the same thing. She could not remember where we left off the previous week and just felt disconnected. She never asked why I wanted to learn, whether I played before or my goals. My goal was for self enjoyment, not the symphony orchestra, so the snap behavior was not necessary. I began to regret going to lessons with her. When I terminated sessions they (front desk or teacher) never asked why. Which tells me either they don't care or it's normal to them. Either way stay clear of interested in violin!!!

I think it's important to share that The Kingwood Music School has caring and talented teachers,…read morehowever the business side is very money driven. My experience is not a reflection of our teacher, she has been wonderful! She had to reschedule a few times due to personal reasons and had a substitute. These changes were during our first month few months there. We attend once a week for an hour long session. I was very understanding of all the changes made from the school's side. When we did have a make up session, we arrived to discover the class was running 15 min late. I scheduled these lessons around my other children's activities. I had to leave the "make up session" 15 min early in order to pick my son up from his activity because the building he is at closes at 7 pm. He would be in the parking waiting. I am completely understanding of "emergency/ personal things." However my problem arises when my daughter had to leave school early due to strep throat and I called in to let the school know she would not make that evening's lesson.I was notified, It is in their "policy" they do NOT have to excuse you for an "urgent care or doctor's note." The office manager would "make a note." It should be okay, but their policy states they can still charge you." It is $295 per month for 4 sessions. Since beginning there, we had 1 make up session, 1 substitute session and the make up session was running 15 min behind. I was understanding of of the school's changes but when it was our turn to "reschedule" because my 7 year old had fever and strep throat "It is in their policy they can still charge you for the lesson." I said "okay" went on to explain we had fall-break and would be out of town on vacation the following week. They do not care if you tell them a month in advance. The school will charge you for not attending lessons. Their only solution is a "virtual" make up lesson during same week as the scheduled lesson. We would be out of town in an Air bnb, without a piano. I attached the email they sent explaining the policy to clarify before signing up for a monthly draft that you can not take vacation with out being charged, regardless of how long in advance you let the school know. The school can cancel and reschedule on you but they do not have to excuse your absence even with documentation from a medical facility. I did reschedule my daughter's session for the following day, after being on antibiotics for 24 hours to avoided being charged. whether she feels great or not she will not be contagious after a 24 hour period. From my understanding they will charge you $295 with no exceptions unless their staff has a medical, family or personal reason. Again, I understand my teachers reasoning and more than happy to work with her on rescheduling, the problem arises when it is our turn to have an issue and rescheduling/ cancelling isn't an option with a doctors note and discovering that even with more than a week's notice I will still be charged for missing piano during our vacation. The school itself is very money driven with zero customer service. I do not believe the teacher we have would run the same business in this manner. She is a wonderful and talented woman.

I want to start by saying that we had a great experience with the instructors at this school. They…read morewere skilled, professional, and respectful, and the programs themselves seemed well organized. My kids enjoyed their lessons and the teaching quality was solid. Unfortunately, my experience with the owner/manager within the first two weeks was disappointing. I enrolled two of my three daughters--one in guitar and one in piano. Scenario 1: On the day of our first lesson, my oldest daughter (the guitar student) had just been to the doctor and received multiple shots in her arm. She was in pain and physically unable to hold or play a guitar. I called ahead to ask about rescheduling and was reminded of their strict 24-hour cancellation policy. The only alternative offered was a Zoom lesson, which didn't address the issue since she couldn't play at all. I brought both kids in anyway and spoke directly with the owner/manager (Caroline). She reiterated that the policy exists to ensure instructors are paid for reserved time. When I asked if there were any exceptions for situations like medical issues, she said no and added that she has run the business for 20 years and that other parents are fine with the policy. I asked a hypothetical question--if we were in a car accident on the way to a lesson, would the policy still apply? She confirmed that it would and the money paid for the spot will not be refunded nor the lesson rescheduled as a make up. I used the car accident e.g. because we were involved in one about 3 months ago. Scenario 2: The following week, I brought all three of my daughters because I didn't have childcare for my 5-year-old. While I was finishing paperwork, my youngest followed her sister into the guitar lesson room. As I went to sit in on the lesson, Caroline stopped me and explained that it was against policy for an unregistered student to be in the room. I clarified that my 5-year-old would simply sit quietly on my lap and not participate. Despite this, Caroline maintained that it wasn't allowed due to "insurance reasons." She confirmed that I could sit in on the lesson--but my 5-year-old (an "unregistered student" as she referred to her) could not be in the room. That left me with the choice of either leaving my child unattended in the lobby or standing outside the room. We ended up standing in the hallway and watching through the glass. As a parent, I prefer to be present during lessons so I can better support my kids' progress at home. This situation made that difficult. Outcome: The day after scenario 2 occurred, I received a call from Caroline informing me that both of my daughters were being disenrolled because I seemed unhappy with their policies. To be clear, my concern wasn't just the policies themselves--it was the lack of situational awareness and the unwillingness to have a reasonable, human conversation - life happens. The repeated emphasis on "policy" without any attempt at understanding the circumstances made the experience frustrating. The irony of this all is that I had sorted out an arrangement for my 5yr so I don't have to take her with me to subsequent lessons per the "Almighty Policy". While the instructors were excellent, the customer service experience literally drove us out.

Taking my children to Bach to Rock is nothing but a wonderful experience every single time for kids…read moreand parents alike. We found this gem amid the pandemic and my children have attended toddler classes, school age private lessons as well as many rock band camps during school vacations or the summer. At the camps, us parents get to enjoy a live show and get a recording from their band at the end of the week. My son even did his birthday party there and everyone got a professional recording of their performance too. They even help with goodie bags! They always want to come back to the "young and fun" staff (their words, not mine) and Caroline runs all the programs so well and is so kind. They even performed at a neighborhood festival for free and gave out prizes to the kids, everyone in our neighborhood loved it! I will continue to take my kids here as they get older, especially since there's so many different programs that they can try. You can even have a free initial trial so you don't need to sign up for something your kids won't want to do. Highly recommend for all parents who want to introduce music in a fun refreshing way!
