INCOMPETENT staff from the top to the bottom. My actual date of service was on January 8, 2013. Tell me why on March 28, 2014 was the first time I got a WHIFF of any charge. OVER a YEAR?!!? Who does that? Unscrupulous folk do. Let's back up. I went to Rowe early last year to test out the waters with a dentist in my area. I relocated years ago and still am traveling 25 mins to see my dentist. I was having horrible tooth pain, I searched on Yelp and found Rowe, great reviews and called them immediately. Appointment was easy to come by and staff were a breeze. I even enjoyed the warm and well dressed dental assistant, super old school, but I felt coddled, made me feel safe and secure. The entire appointment lasted about 45 minutes, the doc spent over 25 mins of that time with me, explaining and pointing, providing me with brochures and answering EVERY question I had. Unheard of. I spend 5 mins MAX with my current dentist, the only time I spend any more than that is when I am getting a root canal or a crown. WOW, I thought, I feel really cared for. And the cool photo technology was impressive. The doc pointed out from the photo, the pink line traveling through my molar was a CAVITY and that was the reason for my pain. He said it with confidence and several times, always referring back to the photo technology. ALL of this was a SCREEN for CRAP diagnoses. A few days after the appointment, I was still having pain, it was excruciating, to the point I could not function at work or sleep. My intuition told me this was not just a simple cavity. I decided to get a second opinion from my dentist. Just one simple x-ray, not a fancy color photo technology told my dentist within 3 mins the source of the pain was a FRACTURED molar. I was completely shocked. I wanted to call Dr. Rowe to let him know of his wrong diagnosis. His practice directly connected me to him and I let him know about the fracture. I could hear the hesitation and immediately after, he said, "I said it was a fracture." WHAT?!?! I was shaking. The point of the call was to let him know of his error, not report him. I just wanted him to be aware. In no way was I trying to avoid payment. Just informational, so he can be more careful in what he tells his patients. After I received the notice in March from my insurance, I called them immediately and I was told the following happened: 1) Rowe's office billed my insurance 10/2013, NINE months after my service 2) Got declined, my benefits were maxed out 3) They continued to bill a couple more times through 2013, to no avail 4) March 2014 they tried again and it was declined, as the service was over a YEAR 5) June 2014 they tried again and was declined June 6, 2014, Rowe's office finally decided to bill me personally. This was the FIRST time in SEVENTEEN months I received ANY attempt to collect the $125 for the January 8, 2013 service. I called their office after I received the notice and let them know my displeasure of getting billed so late. Reception explained they were trying to do ME a favor by dealing with my insurance and finally when they exhausted EVERYTHING they had to bill me. She didn't have a response to WHY it took NINE months for their office to bill my insurance in the first place. I KNOW WHY. The doc KNEW I was not satisfied and confrontational. When a patient's insurance is billed, a statement of benefits is sent to the patient. He didn't want to fan the fire. He was hoping the flame would go out. NO, I still remember your abhorrent ethics. Check is in the mail for my balance due. Enjoy!!! No matter how great your technology is and how much time you spend with your patients, it doesn't negate incompetency and then a lack of honesty. Dr. Rowe is a great dentist and overall human being. I came to him with concern over some previous dental work I had. He thoughtfully listened as I explained to him my experiences with my last dentist. I told him that I had returned to my former dentist multiple times concerning a filling she had done and then re-done. I told him that I no longer had dental insurance, but a new found fear dentists in general. Dr. Rowe listed and really took care of me. He was thorough with his examination and did an excellent job of fixing my filling. He and his staff were able to work with my budget and calmed my fear of dentists. He went so far as to call me days after my new filling to check in on my recovery. Dr. Rowe uses state of the art technology in order to do his best work and it pays off. I had just posted this under Andrew C. Rowe, DDS. Here it is again under Andrew Rowe, DDS. I use to be afraid of dentists simply because I had the worse possible experience as a child. I come here not just because it is close to home, but the staff, the professionalism and dentistry is excellent. I have never had a bad experience here and makes it a joy (yes, a joy) to visit the dentist. If I need a referral for like a root canal or periodontal work, Dr. Rowe has referred excellent people to me. I hear horror stories about root canals and periodontal work...I'm very fortunate to not have any negative experience (and I am not exagerating). The dental hygenist is also excellent and thorough and super nice and is gentle on the gums...unless real deep cleaning is done...but that's not her fault. How adorable is this place? I love coming to see Dr. Rowe because you are met with so many friendly faces. Dr. Rowe's entire staff love to talk to patients, even when your mouth is wide open and spit is drooling down your chin. The dental hygeinist, aka Dr. Rowe's wife, is a big fan of doing this. She's so cute because she'll give you all sorts of samples. One time she discovered that I'm a smoker and was so frankly appalled by my disgusting habit that she gave me a 1-800-NO-BUTTS card. I left that in my bag of freebies and never once made a phone call, but I digress. I highly recommend coming to Dr. Rowe to make your teeth happy because everyone makes you forget where you really are. read more

Dr. Rowe & his staff are awesome. Admittedly, I had not been to the dentist for a while, so I had some anxiety about becoming established again. Dr. Rowe came highly recommended by a coworker. Dr. Rowe removed my wisdom teeth & it was a breeze. He made sure I understood exactly what the procedure involved and that I was completely comfortable throughout. It was so quick & painless I couldn't believe it. Tonight he even called me at home to see how I was feeling! Nobody does that nowadays. I'm happy that I found this office. I had the GREAT opportunity to be a part of Dr. Rowe's dental staff as one of his dental hygienists for 10 years before moving to NM 6 years ago. His office held the bar HIGH for quality dentistry and a true TEAM office of wonderfully caring staff front AND back. Everyone loves working there and I would STILL be there if I hadn't moved. Going to the dentist has never been my favorite thing to do but Dr. Rowe and his staff make the experience so much more bearable. They are the nicest group of people who are both professional and fun at the same time! Doctor Rowe truly cares about his patients and has helped me through the worse pain ever - One time, I had a really bad cavity and needed an extraction, root canal and a new crown. It hurt so bad I wanted to tear my gums out. Doctor Rowe made sure I was comfortable by giving me tons of Novocaine and painkillers. He even called me at home after hours to see how I was feeling. This review has been long over due! After having a bad dentist experience else where, I found Dr. Rowe by the reviews below. And I am so glad I did! A previous dentist had quoted me $1600 for all this unnecessary dentist work. It was Dr. Rowe's second opinion I seeked and he confirmed that most of the dentist work was not necessary. My total bill from him was only a few hundred dollars (quite a difference). My second visit with him was great - no cavities, just a normal cleaning! I trust him 100%. His wife, the hygienist is also really nice. You can tell they are really genuine people who love what they do and aren't out there to get your money. They love talking about their family too, which is great. Never had a problem with the receptionist either, she's very friendly. If only they were an optometry office too, I would go to them for that as well! The only reason I stopped going here was because I had a different insurance that they didn't accept. But once I'm back to my original insurance, you bet I'm going back to Dr. Rowe! They don't have the newest dental office, but they do have a parking lot in the back (I hate finding parking) and knowing that I can go in there and not have to worry that I'm being cheated means a lot to me!! We moved to Alameda in 2011 and my husband first found Dr. Rowe & his staff. I just started seeing them last month. Wonderful resource....professional, friendly, warm, ask all the right questions about your medical history, don't overwhelm you with pricy recommendations you don't really need, use digital imaging so they can show you your mouth (ewwwww) in real time on a flat screen TV. Basically, I dislike dentists because I've had so much work done since I was a kid that involved *pain.* I like Dr. Rowe & his staff. Incredible surprise to me! Unlike a lot of dentists who are stuck in whatever era they attended dental school, Dr. Rowe frequently attends seminars and keeps up with the dental state of the art, making me confident that we'll get the latest & best in treatment. I love this dental office. Everyone is so genuinely kind. They accommodate your schedule and work with you on getting great prices for the work they do. I used to have both my regular cleanings and other dental work done here. I also had eight fillings replaced here. They did a great job. I especially enjoy their receptionist Lillia. Dr. Rowe is very friendly and kind. He has a fabulous staff. I really trust him more than other dentists I've been to over the years. I like that he shows you on the camera exactly what is going on with your teeth and what needs to be done. You don't just have to take his word for it that you have a cavity, or five cavities (although I would take his word for it); he shows you on a big monitor. I'd give 5 stars if they hadn't stopped taking our insurance. read more

I went to Dr. Rowe to get my teeth filled and cleaned. These people are very nice and accommodating. The receptionists are very cool too. On several occasions, I saw kids walking out of dental office happy. What do they feed the kids?! Anyway, the hygienist needs to improve though. She's a little slow. read more

Just some genuinely nice and caring folks. As far as Dr Rowe is concerned I have never had a more pleasant and caring dentist. He is always concerned and trying to do what is in the patients best interest. After any major procedure he has NEVER failed to call me at home just to say "how ya doin, ya OK?" We began seeing Dr. Rowe after my youngest son had a series of traumatic experiences with other dentists and had developed a severe fear of going to the dentist. I was told that Dr. Rowe is wonderful with dealing with children and adults fears and it is definitely true. He has a gentle and kind manner and we just love him! I have been coming to Dr Rowe for over 20 years, since I was a little kid. The service has always been fantastic. The staff at the front desk is very friendly, asks about your family, etc. Due to my ever-changing work schedule I have had to reschedule my regular cleanings more than once unfortunately, but they are always accommodating. The hygienists are fantastic; very knowledgeable and friendly, and they get the job done. Dr. Rowe himself is a fantastic guy, will always listen to what you have to say, and is very funny, which will put you at ease. AGAIN, Dr. Rowe is THE BEST. My 28 yr. old son fell face down on the pavement and broke 3 of his front teeth. Dr. Rowe answered my call within 30 min. on a Sunday evening and he worked him in at 8:30 a.m. on a busy Monday Dec 23rd. Dr. Rowe took special training for fitting night guards ( needed for those of us who grind their teeth during sleep) ! Mine is very comfortable. The office feels like family, especially when his wife is there. She's a part-time hygienist whose very warm and cheerful. In fact, all the people who work close to your mouth are cheerful. Dr. Rowe can project a large image of your teeth on a screen if you are experiencing problems, which is interesting to see and understand why they are working in your mouth! read more
