Great personal dental care. I feel like it's such a refreshing experience every single time, and I never feel bad no matter how much my teeth suck. They're always really nice and help me schedule my appointments at a time convenient to me, truly a sweet family. And, the waiting room is usually warm and cosy read more

If all you need are regular cleanings and maybe some fillings, this dentist is okay. But if you need any restoration, you can't trust this dentist to tell you what's best. I had lost two front teeth in a traumatic childhood accident, and the bridge that I had didn't match my natural teeth. I asked Dr. Bagus whether I could get a new bridge, and he said yes. He never told me what all of my options were. He put in a four-unit bridge, and it looked fine, but came loose less than two years later. I went back to him in a panic. He just gave me his cell number and said "call me when it falls out." The loose bridge broke one of the supporting teeth and then fell out within the two weeks. Now I was missing two front teeth, and needed a third front tooth extracted. I'm a teacher, so this means I can't work. I saw several dentists who told me that Dr. Bagus never should have made a bridge like that because it wouldn't last. I went back to Dr. Bagus and told him what the other dentists said, and he said that he agreed, but was "trying to be conservative." Wasn't it his ethical responsibility to tell me what my options were, and to tell me what would and would not last? Did he decide that a teacher couldn't afford anything better than that crappy bridge? My insurance wouldn't cover any replacement because the bridge that I got from Dr. Bagus was supposed to last at least five years. I demanded my money back, about $3000. Dr. Bagus gave me $500. I felt re-traumatized. Over the next 18 months, I had extractions, bone grafts, implants, and finally a new bridge, which totaled about $20,000 out of pocket. I'm glad that Dr. Bagus didn't get a penny of that. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Bagus for years now and I don't know why I am just writing my review now actually I know why because I have had such incredible care and thoughtfulness from this whole family of dental office here in Alameda that I just want to make sure that everyone goes there and feels the love I feel I just dealt with an emergency dental issue and I felt like everyone made it as much of an issue as it was for me I felt very heard and taken care of andlike my issues were real and I would highly recommend anyone go here. They always remember me they asked me about my family. They remember a little things about me the level of care it's great and the referrals they've given me have also always been really good. read more

I was lucky to find the window when Dr. Bagus was accepting new patients.. and have not been disappointed. Went in today to have a filling redone, which is probably pretty simple. And, it was. I just want to point out that something as simple and easy as that, which can still cause a bit of anxiety about needles & drilling, was alleviated by Dr. Bagus, his assistant (his wonderfully friendly wife) and the staff. If you have the chance, Dr. Bagus is who you want. read more

My first visit to the dentist in 1 1/2 years (since Covid started). I switched dentists - I wanted a dentist closer to home & Dr Bagus is in the perfect location for me. My first visit: Dr. Bagus examined my teeth, I had x-rays taken. Then the hygienist gave my teeth a good cleaning (very gentle and kind person). Every part of my visit was handled professionally and with great care. I do not have insurance (which is a concern for me), but yet I was able to handle the expense without a problem. Although I did not need any major dental work done, I still would highly recommend this dental office to anyone who has fears about going to the dentist. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it feels to have my teeth cleaned again!! From the moment I arrived there to the time I left, everyone that I interacted with in the office was extremely kind. It was an overall great experience - if one can actually say that about a dentist office visit. read more

I was glad when I had a crown emergency, Dr Bagus was able to take me in to make temp crown and the final crown. His office does have the digital computer x-ray images and do not tell me I have cavities every time. They have good later time of the day appointments which is good for my schedule. Teeth cleaning done by hygienists, is alright, not very thorough and messy. Dr Bagus's skill, I am not sure. I had him do a night guard, and he adjusted by grinding/sanding the guard. He kept doing it and made it so thin, it broke. He just left it and did not mention. It was not a good guard. I had been going to him for a few years and just recently, I stopped. It was after he said my tooth cracked, he helping me to re-do a filling. I agreed because I can feel it scratch my tongue. Doing filling is not new to me, so I did not really care too much. I just let him do it, but after the filling, my tooth became sensitive. It was weird when chewing. Then morning brush teeth was super bad with cold water. I went back and Dr Bagus checked and he kept saying everything is fine. Then after two times, they kept charging to my dental insurance but still could not fix my tooth. He then sent me away to this endodontist. That endodontist they refer to is another story (i did not go). Anyways, I went to a specialist, they told me my nerve was damaged in the works of the filling. WTH! They do not want to say anything more, but I knew it was not done well that is why a simple filling became a nightmare. I had to do root canal (nerve damaged) and do a crown. That is SO much money from one simple mistake by this dentist. Everyone telling me to go back to Dr Bagus to claim money back, but I just let it go. I will just not go back to Dr Bagus anymore after this incident. It was not a pleasant experience. Convenient appointment times is good, just do basic teeth cleaning. If it is other work, go some place else. read more

Been going to this dental office for years now. The service, care and how personable he is makes the dental visit to the dentist office that much better. It has never been a dread to go to the dentist with Dr. Bagus. Thorough care is provided, and he's willing to respond to any concerns or questions you have on how to better care for your teeth, gums, and even making sure your nodes around your jaws are good without any infection. read more

Dr. Bagus is a great man, my family has been going to his office, for around 8 years now. We really enjoy his family office, and the service he provides. He has given a great amount of dental work to my wife, and she is satisfied as I am. Both of my children see him too. Recommended! read more

I saw Dr. Bagus last year as a new patient for a teeth cleaning and checkup. I actually ended up needing a filling, but they were great about it. Everyone in the office was nice and I thought the Dr. was great, though maybe a bit "old school." Fast forward to 6 months later.. got my reminder card in the mail and immediately tried to book an appointment, no answer though I called during business hours. Tried again later, no answer so I left a message. No call back. Tried again and again and again to schedule an appointment. I must have called the office 15 times over the next few months and was never able to get anyone on the phone, nor did I ever receive a call back even though I left many messages. I don't have time for that. It is entirely unprofessional. Thus, I've scheduled an appointment with another dentist. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in probably 20 years. No matter! Dr. Bagus and his office took me later in the day after work (he's open well into the evening!) and was great the whole time. The front office staff called my insurance company, etc. beforehand so I didn't have to deal with that headache. It's easy to find and there's ample parking. read more

I for one am not a big fan of going to the dentist - I've always had the fear of dental work for many years, until I started coming to Dr. Rene Bagus. I have been a patient over 4+ years now, and each visit has been a pleasant one. He is very patient and friendly, which helps with my nervousness. I can tell he loves what he does and actually cares for his patients. The office staff is very helpful, I would highly recommend Dr. Bagus to everyone! read more

I've been going to Dr Rene Bagus for almost 10 years. This is a family dentistry practice and usually his wife and adult children help out with reception and appointments. Dr Bagus is an adept dentist and has a professional and comforting technique (for those of you with anxiety about going to dentists). He also teaches dentistry at University of the Pacific so he knows his stuff very well. I believe his wife is also an orthodontic nurse and one of his children may be following in his footsteps to continue the family business. Additionally he's open for evening appointments on certain weekdays so you don't have to take time off work to get your teeth cleaned. read more

Dr Bagus kicks ass!! How many times have I gone into a dental farm only to have them tell me I need my whole face replaced?? Dr Bagus sees the forest -- a long-term client relationship - not just the $$ trees. He's honest and helpful, well willing to work with you on your insurance plans, and not inclined to take you to the cleaners. Plus, a great hand with the kids, as I saw first-hand with my six year old girl, who'd been dentalphobic but now has no worries. He's great! JC read more

What an incredible dentist and family. They recently removed a wisdom tooth and filled a cavity very safely and with minimal pain. I trust that Dr. Bagus performs ethical, evidence based care. I love that it is truly a family business with his children working in the front desk. Dr Bagus explains what he is doing and really cares about what he is doing. My husband and I are happy with our care and can't wait to bring our 1 year old son for his first check up. read more

I had an extremely easy and fast experience here with the Bagus team, I had a large filling put in and have a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist based on past not-so-great experiences, but this filling went by super fast and was completely painless after only having one Novocaine shot (previously at other dentistries I would often need 4-5 shots for one filling)!! I was in and out within 40 minutes. All the staff was very helpful and friendly as well. When I got my x-rays done and a cleaning a few weeks prior, the doctor who cleaned my teeth up was very sweet and friendly, they definitely made me feel comfortable here! read more

It's two years later and I still say Dr. Bagus is the best ever. I just saw him today because an old crown from another dentist cracked and has to be replaced. He was quick, painless, bada-bing bada-boom, temporary crown in place and good to go. In two weeks I'll go back for my permanent crown and get my teeth cleaned while I'm there. I tend to get bad reactions to local anesthesia, which sometimes freaks me out a bit, but Dr. Bagus has been immensely patient with me. He has helped me to feel less nervous about it. I feel safe and comfortable with him. Also, I love going to a family business where everyone from the doctor to the receptionist is friendly, compassionate, and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Bagus. read more

I have been going to Dr. Bagus for over 6 years now. I could not be more pleased with my experience each and every time. Dr. Bagus is a perfectionist when it comes to my oral health and the fantastic service he provides. He is a clear communicator and explains options, gives me suggestions and we decide from there. He has done beautiful work on my teeth both preventative and cosmetic. A true "Artist" in the work he does. His office atmosphere is always enjoyable and friendly. His staff have exceptional training, kindness, and professionalism and know how to make each visit an extremely pleasant experience. Dr. Bagus has helped me in several urgent procedures and has gone out of his way to be available and ensure all was remedied. I am extremely grateful to have such a sincere, quality dentist in Dr. Bagus and his wonderful family that makes his practice such a success. David M. Alameda, CA read more

Dr. Rene Bagus and his amazing team are the epitomai of professionalism and customer service. It is always a pleasure to visit their office. My family dentist in Saratoga retired, and I have been searching for years to find Dr. Fox's replacement. Dr. Rene outshines all others. Dr. Rene, Jinky, Anntonette, Erica, RJ, and all the staff make me feel at home! Thank you all so much! read more

Oh man, where do I start, I am a person who has had horrible experiences with dentist in the past, so much so that I didn't go for years. When I was recommend to Dr. Baugus I was a bit wary, considering my history. I came in and had an emergency tooth extraction, and Dr. Bagus its the sweetest / funniest guy. He explains everything he is going do and tells you what to do if you feel anything what so ever. His main goal is to make sure that he can do everything in his power to make sure you are comfortable and that he can take care of whatever issues you are having with your teeth. I am not as afraid of going to the dentist to get the work I need now. I have plenty of issues that Dr. Bagus is helping me correct, and I could not be happier that I landed the best dentist around. If you are looking for a dentist that you want to be comfortable with, to be able to get straight forward answers on what kind of work you need, then this is the place to go! read more

The office staff at this dentist office is reprehensible. The staff failed to obtain my dental records from a previous dentist after me asking and again reminding them to do so before my visit. They made no effort to obtain my records, and tried to tell me I should just get my xrays redone, even though i had already told them my insurance would not cover another set of xrays. I told them i would give them another week to get it together and I would come back. They basically begged me to stay and apologized, and said that because they had not done their job, the doctor would give me a free "consultation" and would not be contacting my insurance company. I did not need a consultation, I needed a deep cleaning, but I agreed to see the doctor basically just to introduce myself. He spent about five minutes poking around in my mouth, apologized that his staff had wasted my time, and sent me on my way with an appointment for the next week. I call the day before my next appointment and still no one had made any effort to obtain my records. I had to remind them AGAIN to call about my xrays. Records are finally obtained. I get my teeth cleaned. Dr. Bagus was a nice enough guy. They tell me they will call me in a few days to tell me my deductible, Weird, but whatever, I'm ready to get out of there. Today, I call the office and find out that they in fact billed my insurance company for both visits (my insurance only covered one for teeth cleaning), thus making my total balance much, much higher than my original copay. I try reasoning with the woman who handles the insurance, who keeps telling me "not to worry, it's fine" when I tell her she had no right to file my first visit with my insurance after their failure to do their job, and their subsequent apology and offer for a "free consultation". Finally, I loose my temper, call the receptionist "hunny" and tell her I will be contacting my insurance company to dispute the charges for the first visit, and the receptionist, ANTOINETTE? ANTONIA? tells me that she will just drop all of my charges and that i will have to find a new dentist because i am not allowed back into the office (WTF?). I don't know how she thinks she can just snap her fingers and make all those fees/deductibles/copays/whatever just disappear from my insurance statement, and I'm not sure why she thinks she has the authority to ban patients from the dentist office for disputing unethical business practices, but i am COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY SURE that I will be finding a new dentist. WORST DENTIST EXPERIENCE. read more

Dr. Bagus has a great sense of humor! Probably not people's first priority when looking for a dentist but who doesn't want a dentist they like & gets the job done? Just had my third visit for a regular cleaning and very happy with my sister's recommendation. Embarrassing, but I was a 24 yr. old still going to a children's dentistry & realized I needed to find a new dentist one day when I was sitting in a waiting room with 7-10 yrs olds. I also had been delaying getting my wisdom teeth pulled out and needed to go somewhere that could possibly remove them. It really couldn't have been better timing that not only was I looking for a new dentist but for a dentist who could also remove my wisdom teeth without having to be put under. & since my sister had just gone with Dr. Bagus to get her wisdom teeth pulled out and had a great experience I was hoping he would be able to do the same for me. On my first visit he took x-rays of my teeth and said he wouldn't be able to remove my wisdom teeth because even though they had erupted they were impacted. But quickly referred me to an oral surgeon that could get the job done. Which was also an experience that went really well; I was really happy with the recommendation. A big thumbs up for Dr. Bagus!! I've had nothing but great service & experience so far. Dr. Bagus does the initial checking of my teeth, glands, saliva and tongue to make sure everything looks good. Tells me I need to keep up the flossing! lol Then a dental assistant does the cleaning which they do a very thorough & good job. They are also really nice to talk to afterwards. I'm in & out of the dental office in less than 35mins. Overall, I'm happy with his dental office & so are my teeth! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

I have been going to Dr. Bagus for about 3 years now. He is a great dentist...gentle, caring and very knowledgeable about his field. His office has very flexible hours, they have late afternoon and early evening appointments. He is also on the cutting edge of dentistry, using new and improved inlays and onlays, which last twice as long as crowns, look better and cost about the same. 5 stars, and 2 thumbs up! read more

I went to Dr. Bagus for a consultation on a tooth I have that may need an implant at some point. Dr. Bagus evaluated the tooth and helped guide me through some options. He also gave me a referral for a surgeon for the implant. His office was relaxed and friendly. Dr. Bagus himself was generous with his time and advice. I felt he listened to my concerns and needs so he could give me relevant advice and referrals. Oh! When I went to his referral for the implant, she was fantastic as well. Dr. Bagus made the experience time saving on top of everything since I didn't have to hunt for a surgeon. My mother-in-law started seeing him as well and he has been great with her. He treats her like family and she loves going there. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Bagus & Team! Super friendly, very thorough and flexible appointment times.

First time today going to see Dr. Bagus, and was very blessed by the family run environment and relaxed pace. I've feared going to the dentist in the past, whether from the scraping of plague and how my body goes into stress mode as the work on each tooth, dentist who have given bad fillings where I've had to get them redone, or "over-diagnosis" from one dentist who told me I had mouth cancer! (which turned out not to be true thankfully). Anyway, Dr. Bagus does a great job and is super-friendly. Also has weekend and evening hours that work schedule-wise. Glad to find a new local dentist, and thanks for fellow yelpers who recommended him! read more

One of my fillings fell out while I was visiting the bay. I looked up Dr. Bagus and reluctantly went in for another painful visit to the dentist. Boy was I wrong! I have never, ever, gone to a dentist and left without being tortured before. I was given a couple shots and my teeth were drilled and all that but it was painless! He was very nice and very thorough with his work. I wont be seeing another dentist as long as I'm in the bay area. read more

I've been coming here for a couple years now. Dr Bagus is gentle, kind and EXTREMELY easy to work with. His assistants ALWAYS work me into the schedule during an emergency. I started coming here when I had insurance. I don't have it anymore, but the prices are extremely fair. I'm ALWAYS pleased when I leave his office. He's performed some ABSOLUTELY incredible work on my teeth! I couldn't recommend anyone else more highly! It's ALWAYS a pleasure coming here. I'd give more stars if I could! read more

He is the best dentist I have ever had. I was sad to move from Alameda. He is sincere, gentle, kind and personable. Most dentists push teeth whitening or anything else they can to get money from you. Not him. I have never met a dentist who I can say loves his job. This man really does. He is proud of his work and tells stories about other patients who are scared of dentists and come to him. I believe him after the work I've had him do. He does all the work, even cleanings himself. Sometimes, he is hard to reach by phone, but when you are in his office chair, his attention is on you. read more

We have been patients of Dr. Bagus for about 2 years, and have nothing but praise for his office. After bad experiences in Oakland and Berkeley, we found Dr. Bagus in Alameda and never looked back. His office staff are all very kind (and sometimes we'd get the added bonus of getting to say hi to Biggie the dog on our way to the back); you never had to wait, and we really enjoyed the fact that the doctor did his own cleanings. It meant you spent more time with the doctor and could ask questions. When I had a recurrent gum problem that sent me to the dentist 3 times in a month, Dr. Bagus patiently tried a variety of different treatments and then sent me to a periodontist right near my home! His hours were also convenient for my husband who works odd hours. I would recommend Dr. B. to anyone in the Oakland/Berkeley/Alameda area :) read more

Best Dental office I've ever been to, Rene and his team are professionals and really do care about your teeth and comfort! , not like other dentist who might just might take your money and pull your tooth out haha. I have recently found Dr. Bagus after my insurance no longer provided coverage for my last dentist, and I am glad I did. Dr. Bagus does his own cleanings and is very thorough and gentle. Nice and kind employees as well as Doctor. He fairly treated us like special guest. Thank you Dr.

Dr. Bagus is wonderful!! I had a couple of BAD experiences with dentists and Dr. Bagus was so understanding. I hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years because of my fear...but horrible pain drove me to finally face the dentist...and I am soooo happy it was Dr. Bagus that i found!! Dr. Bagus found the root of my pain and it wasn't major as I feared...and probably other dentists would have taken advantage of my pain...not Dr. Bagus...the solutions he proposed were minor and doable! He did not try to rake me over the coals!! He was very thorough in his exam and extremely considerate of my many concerns! His office is clean and modern. As for the dog someone else talked about...what is the problem??? The pup was cute as a button and clean and behaved!! His staff is sweet and they are family...The office has a very warm family feeling. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Bagus and his staff/family...my cleaning was thorough and my mouth feels great today!!! Thanks Dr. Bagus...see ya in 6 mos!! read more

Dr. Bagus is a nice man and has convenient night and weekend hours. However, my dental experiences with his office have not been good. I had a couple of fillings done a couple months ago and days after, they were still hurting. I returned to Dr. Bagus because of the pain. He did some more drilling, but I still had pain the following day. I had to go to another dentist to have my fillings completely replaced. The office falls short of being professional. The front office is run by their teenage daughter and there are constantly friends and other young teenagers hanging around and laughing loudly. And worse of all, THEY HAVE A LITTLE DOG RUNNING FREELY AROUND THE OFFICE. And I have seen it standing up on the counter. This has to violate some sort of sanitary standard. If you just need to get a cleaning done, then you should be safe. And it is extremely affordable. However, anything needed beyond a simple cleaning I would strongly recommend elsewhere. read more
