I'm helping a family member find local dental care. Dr Randhawa's office no longer accepts Alameda Alliance. When I asked for a reason they wouldn't give me an answer. What reason can they possibly give? Those patients have co-pays the same as everyone else. The dentist is paid the same amount. So what is the reason? It's the same classism that appears in so many ways these days. Social hierarchy at its most shameful. When it comes to health care, dental care or anything else, the elderly should not be treated as lower-class citizens. read more

I think what really stuck out to me was the gentle and caring method of cleaning my teeth. I am a very, very, very sensitive person, especially when it comes to my mouth. They handled my reactions and expressions to my sensitivity to cleaning my teeth extremely well. The whole team, including the front desk staff reflected the same kindness and I approached them with and that was so important for me. I have a hard time with going to the dentist, because I have a lot of allergies, health conditions, and a lot of anxiety around going to the dentist. This office has been extremely accommodating to me and my unique disabilities, especially the front desk staff. They are always so nice to me! I trust the dentist I see here, I don't feel like she's trying to max out my insurance and give me stuff I don't need. She understands and believes me when I tell her things. I'm also currently getting Invisalign treatment and I'm happy with my results so far. **Avoid at all costs** This office is the worst office in Alameda, please check out ANY other dentists in Alameda, and then go there. This place has zero customer service, and is only about making money. They will try to quickly see you for a consultation, but then when you try to schedule an appointment, they will put on the WAAAAY back list. I went there for a consultation, and was told my previous dentist's treatment needed to be redone, and so then I was told the first available appointment was not until like 3 months later. No referral to another provider, no contact with me as a client. So, it wasn't that big of a deal, so naive me, was like ok, not so important, so I can wait. Well now that the appointment is coming close, I get a call that they no longer accept my insurance, and will have to cancel my appointment! Really?? After waiting for 2 months! Super shady dental practice. First, they change my appointment time EVERY SINGLE TIME. When I showed up 15 minutes early to my appointment today, the RBF receptionist told me she'd have to see if they could still see me. She said my appointment was 15 before then. Nope. Second, they charged my credit card, then billed my insurance. Fine, but they never reimbursed me for any over charges, which there were. Shady. Third, the receptionist. Just plain rude. I really can't stand it when someone tells you that you didn't do something, and then doesn't take any responsibility or make an apology when the learn that you actually did, just like you said. She told me I never emailed previous records, and when I showed her the sent email from my phone, she continued to find flaw with my email. Again, I showed her the email and exactly what she had asked for. No apology. Nothing. There's no reason to go to this place to get treated this way. Steer clear! read more

I sat in chair for 2-1/2 hours to get fixed for crown. after completion of crown, dentist cancelled my next appointment for another crown to be fitted for then after rescheduling, i called receptionist to talk about a payment plan and she was very rude and said i am not a fit for them any longer. Update 7/19/23 **I made an appointment to address the dip mentioned below with the doctor who worked on my teeth after completing Invisalign, hoping to find a solution to fix the issue. Not only the doctor, Dr Randhawa, was super defective not providing any clear explanation which made sense to me, he raised his voice at me when I only looked over to see a picture of my teeth so I can understand his explanation. But according to him, I wasn't showing "respect" during our conversation. And he demanded that I had to look at him every second when we conversed. And of course, he denied any responsibility for messing up my teeth. I agree with some other reviews that had mentioned he's extremely selfish and arrogant. 100%. During this entire conversation, there were 3 other staff standing in the same office including Sherry, the main front desk person. She stepped in a few times to back up the doctor and showed no customer service to the client (me). Now, I understand why she has been working in this office for so long. Her boss' puppy. Very disappointing. This experience really left a bad taste in my mouth and I'll be looking for a new dental office asap. I have been putting up with this place for years and it's time to move on and stop being too nice. ** I have been going to this dental office for years started in the location in Alameda. The services provided have been decent though not outstanding. I find the workers are not competent enough to answer questions at times. Sherry has always been helpful over the years. I recently completed Invisalign work there and went into the office to smooth out the unevenness of my lower 4 front teeth with an electric filer. And now I have a dip on two of my teeth. The two teeth were overly done that my teeth are now more uneven than before. Since I have started coming to this office, this office also have often upsell products to me that are extremely expensive. I'm in the process of getting a tooth implant. I'm being charged costs with a specialist which is 50% more expense. Even with insurance, my out of pocket expense for the tooth implant for one tooth is over $3,000. The cost is over $7,000 including insurance which is much higher than what my friends have paid with their dentists. I'm aware that this is not an uncommon procedure that in-house dentists can not perform. Also be aware when you are being told that you have cavity. Please read other reviews. After a horrible experience at Alameda Landing Dentistry (please read my review on their Yelp! page), I had a completely pleasant and insightful visit at Randhawa Dentistry. I was treated with high quality customer care from the waiting room, exam chair, final procedure chair, and on my way out the door. Their staff is friendly, very knowledgeable, patient, and e eat of all, trustworthy! While my teeth were being examined, the dental assistant explained each step thoroughly. I never felt shamed about my long absence since my last dental cleaning about 5 years ago. Instead, they just told me what I needed and got to work without offering me unnecessary treatments. Ever since I switched to Randawha Dental I have had far healthier teeth and gums. My experience here has been phenomenal. The staff are AMAZING! Mariam is extremely helpful with scheduling (and rescheduling) appointments. She's always easy to talk to and easy to reach. Milana, who is one of the dental hygienists) is sweet, kind and bubbly, which makes the experience fun and feel very safe. Mimi is also a dental hygienist who is very kind, and safe feeling. I was referred to this dentist when moving to the bay specifically by my insurance and the reviews they had of them. I was tired of offices that were not nice and tried to get me in and out like a robot and it was time for a change. I have been overwhelmed with the amount of kindness and flexibility of Randhawa Dentistry. I have needed to change my appointment several times on multiple occasions due to my job and this office, specifically the front of house associate Mariam has always made it happen! She reached out to me via email once when I gave her the wrong phone number just to confirm my appointment. She has tried to always fit me in for my Invisalign issues and goes out of her way to ensure she knows who all guests are when they come in for appointments! Thank you Mariam for your hard work in being efficient and transparent and always so accommodating in finding me an appointment that works for ME! I got my first Invisalign ever done at Randhawa Dentistry. It was put on wonderfully with no pain by the wonderful Thu! From the moment I went in not expecting what would be the process she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and explained the process to me. I was not sure how to handle the care and changes of having Invisalign and she made sure I knew the do's and don'ts very clearly and answered every question I had before leaving. Honestly her smile and can do attitude are contagious and I'm so glad to have had her for my first Invisalign appointment. Thank you Thu! After one of my attachments fell off I called Mariam and asked what I'm supposed to do! She told me to come in the next day and she would take care of it. I arrived at 08:15 on the next day and a wonderful professional named Andrea took me under her wing. I told her about my concern about one of the attachments feeling sharp on my lip when the liner was not on and maybe missing one or two and she told me not to worry that it was normal and she would take good care of it! She did in a jiffy and gave me some mini mouthwash and toothpaste for my new routine. I am a Pilot and these will 10000% come in handy when packing for trips. Thankful for Andrea and her promptness as well as her wonderful care! Lastly when trying to make sure I am settled up at the front desk, Sherry came through for me in making sure that my insurance was taking care of whatever they possibly could all while making the transaction for Invisalign simple and seamless. She didn't lead me down any rabbit hole and confuse me. She just made it make sense and I am thankful for her honesty and integrity in providing me with the most details and tools to make the great decision for Invisalign. This is a great office and just by naming 4 of their employees I've had the pleasure of working with I am happy with my selection for them as my primary dental office. I got my Invisalign here and I can't regret more. My back teeth weren't and aren't biting properly after treatment done. Dr. randhawa told me that was just because you were on aligners and when you started wearing retainers just for night time for a while your back teeth would come to bite again. But nope, they aren't biting and what's supporting my jar now is the front teeth and that's not what it's supposed to be! And I now am spending more money to get my biting fixed with another dentist. And why did I rather spend more money and go to another dentist than go back to Dr. Randhawa? Please keep reading... I had issue with retainers that after I started wearing the retainer my front teeth gap got opened up again, so I needed to go back to aligners but then after the second round of aligners done, I had issue with the new retainers (again), I explained the retainers weren't the right set and I felt my back teeth weren't biting but I guess Dr. Randhawa was tired of seeing me (that might not be the fact but that's how I felt) and he sat down and started asking me what I actually wanted. I was speechless and since I had thrown my aligners and had no proof and felt so uncomfortable the way he sat there talking to me like a negotiator and I gave up. The story above was just one of the many episodes what I was upset about. There are also some other episodeS!!. (A short version of one of those episodes would be: one day I went in thinking I was just to grab my new aligners then could leave but instead, I was asked to lie down because there are some filing need to be done (another round of filing that I didn't know about!! Shouldn't they let me know and discuss with the patient beforehand?) In short, you could find someone else that's way better, more responsible, more passionate about fixing your teeth than getting your money then getting you out of their way. My treatment was done about 7-8months ago and I thought I could let go but now I came back to write this comment to hope you don't make the same mistake like I did. read more

This review is regarding an appointment my daughter had with Randhawa Dentistry, mainly regarding cost of services. My daughter initially went in for a cleaning and was told that she had 2 fillings that had cracked and needed 2 additional fillings. All was great and she made an appointment for a few weeks after her vacation. The day before her second appointment, she shared her treatment plan with me. The plan was pretty straight forward but a bit expense for a young person with dental insurance. I asked if they had explained her options regarding the plan. My daughter said they just showed it to her and she left. So here we are looking into benefit costs the night before her appointment. Turns out the material used for the fillings is the higher priced option. But when she went into the office and requested the lesser cost, they told her that they didn't offer that option. Unless things have changed, shouldn't she have an option? The fillings were not in front, so not visible. Ok, going forward my daughter requested a letter for her insurance stating that the office didn't offer the lesser cost material to which they replied that they could but that the insurance would tell her that she could go to another dentist. True, the insurance may say that but shouldn't we at least have the option to try?! Seems like the office staff were all kind and helpful until you question cost and ask for a letter stating they don't offer another option. They were even bothered that she had asked for a receipt. I have called a few dental offices asking if they'd have given my daughter a letter if she had been their patient. They said "of course they would have" and that they do it all the time. So, Dr Randhawa why won't your office staff supply us with a letter? We will continue to address this with the office and our insurance. read more

Halfway through my Invisalign, and things are getting uncomfortable. I'm trying to be patient, but have a lot of questions. At my recent check, Dr. Randhawa patiently answered my many questions, showed me the timeline of expected results, and even emailed my "what's going to happen" beginning-to-end video to me so I could have that for my file. I went here about a year ago. I was waiting to write this review because I wasn't sure if they were legitimate or not, though I got the vibe that they weren't. The hygienist was really thorough with the cleaning, which I appreciated. The dentist came in for 1 minute, barely looked at my teeth and said I had a number of cavities. She built 0 rapport with me, which was fine, but you want to trust someone when they make a recommendation. I also take excellent care of my teeth, so I was skeptical. I ignored their advice to come back to get cavities filled, and a year later I went to a dentist on Yelp that actually had a great rating. They performed an excellent cleaning, and guess what? Zero cavities. So Randhawa dentistry literally lied to me and planned to drill holes in my teeth to make a buck. I despise this place now. That's some dirty dirty stuff. I wonder if they can sleep at night, but I guess they can given that they have multiple offices. Congrats on drilling people's healthy teeth for dollars. I wish I was making this up! Guess what Randhawa Dentistry? If you provide a better, honest service you'll get better reviews, and you'll be doing the humane thing. And news flash, in turn, you'll make more money! I just got bamboozled by this office! I went in on a Groupon deal for x-rays/cleaning/exam and was told by the dentist who examined me that I had a very large cavity under an existing filling that needed a crown ASAP. She was shocked that it was giving me no pain and was adamant that it needed to be taken care of sooner rather than later. She mentioned that it also may need a root canal once they got in there to see what they were dealing with. Once done, a price of $1280 was quoted to me. She also told me I had another cavity on a different tooth. When I got home, I put a call in to my dentist of 10 years in Southern California just to get an idea of prices on dental procedures without dental insurance. They told me that they charged $975 for crowns. I made an appointment to get it taken care of there since I was going to be making a trip anyways. So I called the Alameda office and asked them to email me my x-rays, which they did. When I got there, my dentist looked at the x-rays and told me there was no need for a crown. In fact, there was no cavities on any of my teeth. He pulled up my x-rays from 6 years ago to compare them to the recent ones and showed me that there were two shaded areas that were caused by different features of my teeth, but since they had not grown obviously they were not cavities. NO CROWN NEEDED! I was so confused because I know that while in the Alameda office, the dentist was pointing to the picture of a tooth with a large cavity under a filling which was why I was so alarmed. So I am thinking they were showing me an x-ray that was not mine! My old dentist told me that I should steer clear of these corporate dental offices that are cropping up all over the place because they often times do not have the patient's best interests in mind. Using this dentist was a huge mistake. There were limited reviews on Yelp so I went on the status that Gurjit S. Randhawa was an Elite Provider at Invisalign. At a high-level, I had so many issues at this practice I had to switch dentists in the middle of my Invisalign treatment even though I knew it would cost me extra money and time - it was that frustrating. They also made some mistakes during a route teeth cleaning that are now turning out to be extremely costly for me (estimated bill right now is $1,000+). More details are below: Major cleaning issues - I went in for my 3-4 month teeth cleaning and the hygienist took out part of my gum. I called and asked them to look at the issue (when I got home and noticed) and when I went back to the practice they tried to tell me the problem was always there and I just noticed it. I was not sure (and very unhappy with gap) so I went to an independant professional to give a second review. He confirmed there was "trauma" caused by this cleaning. ( I also have pictures from my Invisalign updates that proved my gum line was there a few months earlier.) Invisalign - After a year of Invisalign (two different sets of liners) I felt like I had a number of spaces and other minor issues that I still needed to fix. Principally, I had one front tooth sticking out a tiny bit further than the other one. When I asked him why, he told me one tooth was thicker than the other. After speaking to my current dentist on these issues (for the reasons above) he assured me these issues can be fixed. I am in my third set of trays, with another dentist, to fix the mistakes of this practice. Inaccurate diagnosis - I got an estimate for ~$900 for a diagnosis that ended up being incorrect. The dentist at this practice said I had a number of cavities, but when I got a second opinion the other dentist said I had nothing there to fix. Customer Service - I tried to get X- rays e-mailed and it took 5 calls for me to get them e-mailed. To be fair, I was leaving the practice anyway, but I was extremely frustrated at that point anyway and it only emphasized how badly this practice is run. As you can see from my review I could not recommend this practice for cleaning or Invisalign. read more

Best dental experience to date! I got the invisalign groupon deal from a year ago. It has been smooth sailing. They get you in and out. No long waits. I was told my teeth were so crowded that I would need braces, 4 teeth extracted, and headgear. Definitely recommend! I am new to the area and don't have dental insurance. I got a Groupon for a cleaning/exam/x-rays.It is seriously hard to find a good dentist but this was one of the best dental experiences I've had, which is saying a lot because I spent most of my childhood in a dentist chair and always have cavities no matter what. The staff were all excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The hygienist gave me some numbing cream during the exam because my gums are sensitive which was so helpful! Thankfully, it wore off right as I was leaving because I couldn't feel my lips either. The dentist I saw (I think her name is Dr. Patel) was SUPER nice and made recommendations for a couple fillings (which I expected) and wisdom tooth extractions. She wasn't at all pushy, which was nice. The receptionist gave me an out of pocket quote which actually didn't seem that unreasonable. (If you don't have insurance, FYI, their out of pocket cost for a routine exam/cleaning is $120.) The best part is my teeth look so clean/white!! I also got a free toothbrush, dental floss and toothpaste. My last few dentists never gave me goodies. Oh, they have ample parking which is good too. I am shopping for dental insurance and definitely want to find a plan that Dr. Gurjit's office accepts. read more

I'm new in town and I wanted to find a local dentist. I decided to redeem my yearly cleaning through Aetna, and serendipitously, I chose Dr. Randhawa's office. From the moment I walked in the office, I felt like I had been a patient here for years. I was cordially greeted by the front office ladies and quickly brought to the room for routine teeth cleaning and X-rays. The dental hygienist didn't over or under use the saliva ejector and assiduously polished every tooth until they were clean! Dr. Patel did a great job on a small filling. It was a quick, painless and simple procedure. I have already eaten a whole bag of taffy and the filling is still there! In all seriousness, I highly recommend this practice for your dental needs. Wow. I had a a really annoying gap in my front teeth that just drove me nuts. I went to Dr. Randhawa after learning about invisalign. Now it's 8 months after starting the treatment and my teeth are fricking perfect!! As someone who was tormented with old-style braces as a teenager, I knew I wouldn't dare go through with it again, but invisalign was a completely, completely different experience. I think I was the first patient at his new office in San Francisco. It's right on Union Square, so you've got a great view while sitting in the dental chair. The people are nice, no visit took more than about 30 minutes (it's crazy how fast it goes) and the invisalign retainers are practically invisible, and you get used to them after a week or two.. All in all, I'm really thrilled by this new treatment. They use a 3D printer to custom fit the aligners to your teeth, which is also cool.. extremely next generation. I just wish I had these when I was 14, rather than braces. Hope that invisalign spares countless kids the torment of old world metal-mouth torment. :) Super highly recommended sincere 5 star review! read more

I'm updating this review as of 2/12/16. I've been a patient at this office for several years since I was in high school and was always treated very well. However, as of today, I am a bit frustrated that I was called by Dr. Randhawa's staff indicating my scheduled appointment was cancelled for reasons I don't know. I can only come in on Saturday's and for them to call me the day before my appointment to tell me it's been cancelled was a bit frustrating. For the sake of my relationship with the practice, I'm going to keep my rating at a 4 but I really hope the Doctor addresses this issue. read more

Dr. Randhawa and his team are amazing. I went in for an Invisalign consult and after a few xrays, realized that I had 2-3 deep cavities. The female dentist who works there took her time to go over the x-rays with me and explain the procedure to me as well. One of the cavities was really deep and she did an amazing job with it. I barely felt the numbing injection and she managed to fill the deep cavity without having to do a crown. I have now started my Invisalign treatment.
